My experience with the lead sales manager was fantastic as our family was trying to find a place for Dad during a challenging time. She helped us navigate a tight timeline and even provided some basic furniture to help us in the transition. The head nurse at that time was also a solid resource for Dad's needs based on his medical condition and first 30-60 days. Dad would likely still be at State Street if it were not for my brothers' move out of state and their desire to have Dad close to them. He's currently in a skilled nursing facility and has been in hospice care since September.... Read more

Never received any follow up calls once we signed up with the sign up woman , one of the patients had a daughter who was a real trouble maker and I did warn them , but the longer my Mum was there , the more I understood the woman's complaints . They would call me your mother is out of this or that AFTER she was out of it , some things felt like they were used up far too quickly , but I never made a deal about it , one time when I was leaving an aide called out the door number. So she didn't have to get up ( how lazy is that ? ) and I found residents sleeping in my Mum's bed and using her bathroom , no one cleaned it afterwards how disgusting is that , the staff used my mum's refrigerator for their lunches and drinks , my mother's was was ALWAYs done incorrectly by that I mean at least 50% of the time my Mum wasn't wearing her own clothes and the bedding was not hers. She lost coats, and even an umbrella , little things like a container of new pens I kept in there with paper pads were gone , she had cards from people displayed on her desk that were not hers , her wash was piled up and smelly and her rug had junk all over it. I gave a watch that wasn't hers to the staff. Only two staff members a 3-11 person and an RN seemed kind and competent. I don't expect perfection , but the staff and their lazy attitudes and nothing was ever a big deal , my mum fell there and I never complained, I expect things like that. But the attitudes and all that money for smelly, dirty rooms was pretty disgusting. I wish I would have reported it to the state.

Kind and caring staff in the Memory Care area. Couldn't do enough for my father and we were so appreciative. [name removed] was absolutely amazing. Room sizes in memory care were good. 1 room bed/living combo with kitchenette and a bathroom. Perfect size!!!

What our family likes the most about State Street Assisted Living are the assisting staff, they were fantastic and based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families who are looking for a place for their loved ones.

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience with them. It's all about the money for them. No compassion whatsoever for their residents or the family. We felt the management was very money driven. The "sales" person would tell us one thing, but it reality it was very different. I do know 2 other people who lived there and they and their families seem to be happy with it. This was just our experience.

Overall it has been a good experience. It's a very lovely looking facility. The workers there all seem pleasant, and the guests seem happy with their situation. But a lot of things we were promised when we signed up don't seem to be happening.
We like the facility and the communication has been great. Staff are very helpful. They are so patient with the residents especially while they settle in during the transition process. I would recommend State Street to others and already have. We have been very happy with the experience.

They, State Street, have been outstanding. My mother is very happy there. They worked tirelessly to get mom a room...even a temp room while her permanent room was being painted. They have all been friendly and helpful. My mom did not want to go to assisted living but has totally changed her mind and is enjoying the freedom it has given her.

This community was a second choice for me. The distance was the biggest issue for this community and the room was small also
Hello, my husband and I met with [name removed], so friendly, bright and bubbly, also very informative. We weren’t able to do a walk through, but we did do a virtual tour with her and I did like what I saw. I would like to re-submit my review because it showed up as 2 stars and that was clearly an error. I give State Street Assisted Living 5 stars. [name removed] is great.

I would recommend this community to friends. I think for the general industry they do a pretty good job. The food is pretty good. The food has gone down due to COVID, and they are feeding the residents in their rooms. The community is doing the best they can. I think they are doing an excellent with COVID.

Extremely disorganized Medication management is a nightmare. Assistance in daily care (dressing, bathing) does not usually happen despite repeated requests. Concerns/questions from family members are often not addressed. Resident’s don’t appear happy. Several promises made by sales staff we later found out were not true. Recommend not sending your loved one(s) there!

Looks nice on the outside, but poor management. Staffing issues. Make sure your read the complaints filed with Health and Social Services before placing a loved one in this facility. Watch unannounced how medication is dispensed and the length of time residents stand in line for their medication. Many residents with memory issues roaming the halls not knowing where to go. Consumer beware. Poor return of care for the money paid.

Response from State Street Assisted Living
September 15, 2017We are excited that you found us in Dover! We are very proud of our community and the associates working there. We hope that you find this as a solution for your loved one.
This community seems to have a lot to offer. They have a lot of clubs for the residents to enjoy. The staff I met were friendly. This community looked nice and clean. The cost of this community was just a little out of our budget.

September 15, 2017Thank you for the feedback!
It was a rough transition for me with my move to this community, but now things have gotten better. This is a nice community with kind people. Everyone has been very welcoming, and helpful. They have a good staff, and they do a great job with the cleanliness around the community. I enjoy the meals, and they offer good activities. It is still an adjustment process, but overall I'am pleased with my move to this community.

Overall I am pleased with how things are going for my mother at this community. The staff have had some issues with communication but have been working with me to get all issues solved and answer any questions I have for them. The meals are what really impress me at this place, they are excellent with lots of variety and taste. I would defiantly recommend it to anyone interested.

A Place for Mom has scored State Street Assisted Living 6.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
