Overall the feedback I would have to give is not favorable. The frontline staff do a good job but the administration leaves a lot to be desired. We never had monthly care team meetings, only phone calls when there was an issue. They were not always quick to return calls and their business office person never did respond to repeated voice mails and emails. My aunt died on [date removed] and to my knowledge no one from their administration has called or sent a card to express their sympathy. Would I recommend Brookdale to a friend as a possible long-term care option for their loved one? No I would not. Always found the facility to be clean. No major issues. Felt that overall, the staff were friendly. Whether it was the receptionist or those on the memory care unit. I am not sure I can adequately speak to the care services because Brookdale never held monthly care meetings. They only contacted us when there was a problem. To me, that was a problem. My aunt never complained about the food but she had Alzheimer's and don't know that she would have. I think this was an area where they seemed to do well early on. They used to send regular pictures of my aunt engaging in various activities. Compared to other facilities Brookdale does seem to be a lot less money and probably a decent value for the cost.

We chose Brookdale Dover for our mother's care when she could no longer live alone. From touring the facility to moving her in, to taking care of her needs was flawless. The care she received was exceptional, especially the aides that cared for her on a daily basis. Dementia patients can be challenging and no matter what my mother's mood was on a particular day, the aides knew how to care for her. During her last days prior to her passing, the entire staff was accommodating, checking on her constantly, talking to her, and ensuring the family members had privacy during the visits.

There are no words that can express our gratitude and appreciation for the many acts of kindness bestowed upon our Mom at Brookdale Dover. After viewing many assisted living facilities nearby our new relocation in DE a few years ago, we found Brookdale Dover to be a most caring, friendly family-like home which would provide the best services for our Mom from health care to socialization. Nursing director goes above and beyond with the wellness staff to ensure her hearing aids are functional with new batteries every 5 days, and all her medications are properly administered as necessary. I am contacted when need be for any concerns or health matters. The food is so good that there are times Mom prefers to eat in rather than go to a restaurant. Brookdale Dover is not just an assisted living facility. It is a caring, kind, considerate, friendly, helpful, thoughtful community home away from home.

Has been a great experience from the beginning. My wife and I have been treated as if we were old friends. All support staff from sales to nurses to receptionists have ALL been highly professional but extremely friendly. Icannot say enough positive things about Brookdale.

Mom, has adjusted very well to Brookdale and has made friends with some of the clients. The staff treat her very well and with respect. We wish the furniture was in better shape(it is shabby) and that there was more room and furniture for the clients to hang out in. The front section of Brookdale is much nicer

The management staff ([name removed], [name removed] nursing coordinator, and others) are very competent and truly care for the residents and the facility. Their commitment is reflected throughout their entire staff. The facility is older and a bit dated. It is more expensive than a few others that we visited, but we were impressed with the smaller size of the facility and the more personalized care.

The facility and staff were clean, nice, and accommodating. Still working through final bill and credit 4 months after my father left the facility. The ability to contact management and get a response is terrible.

Brookdale staff has been very helpful in helping me find an appropriate place for my Mother to receive the care she needs. Taking care of a family member with dementia is a very difficult thing to do. The staff are there for the family as well as the client and in reassuring, you have made the best decision for your family. Having a primary doctor on staff and a podiatrist are a great plus. Safety, medical, nutritional, emotional and behavioral issues along with others are addressed.

I can't believe is going to be 2 years since my mother is in Brookdale, every time I visited , she always make comments the staff and nurses are very kind and helpful . I know the language is difficult for her,she understands but she can't talk. But the staff finds the ways to communicate with her. And she is happy with that. Half english and half spanish. Again thank you to everyone in Brookdale for taking care my mom.

They are doing a great job with my loved one. They are doing well with, keeping my loved one engaged and stimulated. They could do better with communication. They don't have visiting hours in the evening, which makes it a bit of a challenge to visit our loved one more often. They should be more accomodating.

You need to be your best patient advocate for your loved one. Stay on top of daily service to ensure the staff complies with what you believe is to be provided. I give this advice first so that you know every place is different, and it's only as good as you ensure that it is. Very happy with all staff and services.

Their communication is very good. They call me with any updates I would need to know. They're very protective of their residents and have their best interest and well-being in mind. They also have a good security set-up. The doors lock, and they really watch who is coming and going. They are a little understaffed. I think they need at least one more person in memory care. But I would recommend them to anybody looking for memory care.
