Only shortcoming in transition was that residents' orientation was not detailed, relied on new resident reading handbook prior to move in. Also, initial review was during chaotic period of actual move, details of packing, unpacking, etc. Might have benefitted by follow-up formal re-orientation 7-10 days after move in. Residents, manager and staff of facility were very helpful in answering questions as they occurred. All other items rated at 5. Chef was particular helpful in determining special dietary needs. There is effort to provide various ethnic options and there is an always available menu of soup, omelets, individual pizzas, salads and sandwiches. There is weekly special menu of soup, salad, sandwich and entrees in addition to weekly menu. Cleanliness and friendliness of staff were top notch. Residents were very helpful in welcoming new residents and encouraging participation in scheduled activities. Number of residents is small enough to make it feel like "family" environment. While facility is "independent living" facility, it would be helpful to have transport options at a fee for medical appointments. There are occasions when residents are unable to drive or have family drive them. Not expected that this would be a free service but Uber or Lyft are exorbitant cost, wish there was option to schedule transportation for appts and pay a reasonable fee. Some residents have insurance that would help cover costs. Finally, value for cost is definitely rated 5 when compared to other facilities and cost in area.... Read more

I would say it's a very nice residence and the apartment is new and fresh. It's a small community with a family feeling. My mother felt comfortable there that's why we chose it.

Friendliness of the staff - specially residence manager and chef. Quality of Care - Not applicable for independent living Meals/Dining 5, wide variety of entrees, soups and desserts and flexible options to substitute for entrée, if desired. Activities - special interest programs relative to cyber security, medical alert systems, evaluation of risk of falling, etc provided; monthly lunch outing, monthly entertainment, weekly bingo; wish there were more choices for exercise in physical fitness room and Silver Sneakers program. In past, not enough people fit Silver Sneakers in building, there is program on campus but no transportation to other building, must have car. Overall excellent facility and programs; just wish there was transportation to Y or other facility further more extensive exercise program. Staff are excellent, very considerate and caring.

It's a wonderful place that I have told everyone I know about in the hopes that they will use it for their own parents. Large apartments well equipped with full kitchens. Facility is just the right size- small enough for personalized service. Chef cooks comfort food and will make whatever you want. Staff are very helpful with the move in process and able to personalize the apartments. Thorough cleaning of apartment every 2 weeks. My parents wish they would have moved in sooner!!! We looked at several facilities and this was the best option for pricing and amenities!

We had the pleasure of my Mother spending her last 6 1/2 years at Rosecrest. The staff treated my mother like their own. They always provided personal care and every patient was cared for in their own unique way. It is not a "old folks home" it really enriches their life and keeps them active all day long. The facility is always clean and is just perfect. The rooms allow personal furniture and items to make the transition easy and keeps that at home feel always fresh in their minds. I can't say enough great things about he staff and the facility.

Beware what the sales person tells you when you sign up does not match with what the nursing staff actually say happens. Beautiful new facility but the staff needs more training and your loved one gets very little personal attention If they stay in their room and do not participate in the activities. The most difficult thing for me was their billing practices. Again what the salesperson told me does not match up with what the actual billing was. It's a beautiful new building but I hope That the actual care and billing procedures improve quickly. I was charged for services that my mother never got. There are some really good people there. But the staff needs better training.

A Place for Mom has scored St John Community, a CCRC 8.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
