Great staff & well kept facility with minimal issues during our time there

My mom was only there for about 3-4 months. She wasn't happy being there and wanted to be with family so my brother bought a house so she could live with him. Her daily needs were met such as meds and food but nobody encouraged or assisted her to shower and there were a few occasions where she ran out of clean clothes because her laundry wasn't being done per their laundry schedule and I had to call and ask if they could do it. The facility was very nice and well kept but she just didn't really fit in or relate to the other residents so we thought it was silly to pay nearly 5K a month for her to be unhappy/uncomfortable. Her time there was uneventful and I don't have anything bad to say except she just didn't care for it too much.

Home-like atmosphere and Care

It's been great so far. They need a bit more coverage but it's been alright. Great environment and atmosphere. Very homelike. Good level of care, but could consider additional staff for L4 L5 care.

Would not recommend.

Staff are mostly friendly and helpful. They need to Hire a new chef. Also, two activities directors have quit or be fired in the five months I have been there.

This place is not for my mom, she is an active person and the activity is geared towards walkers and wheelchairs. We had a very hard time trying to get her meds to her at the times she was used to. I really did not have much interaction with the staff.

Feels like home

The staff is caring and compassionate, always willing to help each other for the common goal which is what is best for the residents. Making them feel as comfortable and at home as possible. The facility is beautiful. The courtyard is a perfect area for residents to safely enjoy some sunshine and fresh air. An absolute wonderful place.

Terrible

My husband was in memory care fell broke hip went to hospital for surgery. Upon returning to sonata received no therapy was left to lay in bed for a week. Evidently, food was brought to his bedside and he was unable to eat him self. Food was taken away untouched Therefore, he was brought back to the hospital diagnosis was failure to thrive. I brought him home with hospice critical care where he survived . Never take you loved one to this place.

I thought Sonata at Coconut Creek was really nice - the facility was nice, and they seemed to have good activities. The rooms were a little bit smaller though. We visited another Sonata location in the area and had a similar impression.

Our experience

We chose Sonota at Coconut Creek because of the convenience of my friends family to that location. She was also able to get her own room and bathroom which was important. I think the meals are chef prepared, she doesn't complain about that at all. When we first checked this facility out there was some misinformation about the insurance and a few things came up so we had to make some different adjustments.

Do not recommend, horrible experience

The nursing care at Sonata at Coconut Creek sucks and they do not care about the residents at all. I would never recommend them to others looking for memory care, it was a horrible experience.

Pleased with our experience

Sonata at Coconut Creek stood out to us because the rooms are bigger than another one we looked into, it was super clean, and it just looked really warm and inviting when you walk into the lobby area, it also smelled great. If my mom ever needs anything, they are right there to help her. She speaks mainly Spanish and they have a lot staff members that are bi-lingual which is great. I would recommend to others looking.

Our Tour Experience

The person that I was supposed to see for the tour wasn’t there that day. So someone else assisted me. The tour was good overall. They answered all of my questions. Their facility set-up was a little different. The living areas were more open. As far as I could tell, they didn’t have bedroom doors that lock, so the residents could amble in and out.

We Don't Suggest Sonata

I would tell others that the way the place gets managed is okay. The rest of the community and staff isn't as good. The lady at the front desk is charming. The manager is fine. The caregivers weren't good to work with.

Yucky, do not go here

I would want others to know that my mother was here for 2 months before we pulled her out. She was not getting her medications properly no matter how many times we spoke to them about it. The dosages and timing were always wrong or they just did not give it to her. The food was not good at all, they served the same things all the time so my mom was not eating and we had to bring her food. They were all processed meals and very poor quality. We also learned after she got here that they only make a meal once a day for lunch, and then dinner everyone is brought a sandwich to their room. It is a pretty facility that is very clean, but unless you can take care of yourself, I would not recommend.

Would recommend this community

Prior to COVID they had weekly cocktail hour, pet therapy, bingo, as well as puzzles. They had religious services and entertainments groupd, they also had special holiday parties. The food at this community was usually okay sometimes it was a hit or miss. Sonata community has very inviting feeling to it, the rooms are very comfortable. It was a very modern look to it, very bright, as well as pretty decor.

The staff is very friendly. During the Covid-19 pandemic, they have been sending us newsletters regularly about what they are doing and planning for the residents and their safety. The price at Sonata At Coconut Creek is a bit high. It is a pretty nice place and I have no complaints.

Good place for mom or dad

Mom has been at Sonata for almost 2 years. I live nearby so I'm always popping in to visit. The entire staff and management are always attentive and personal. I truly believe that they ALL care about the residents. The campus is lovely and well maintained. The floor plan is bright and open. Activities are stimulating and varied. I am comfortable knowing that my mom is in good hands. I strongly recommend Sonata Coconut Creek
