My overall experience with Somerford has been very positive... although the amount of communication has great decreased (I suppose no news is good new)My bother has said the food is quite good. He does not, yet, participate in any activities, but those that I observed looked great. I am still a bit dismayed that I had to hire/pay a HUGE amount of money for a private nurse to assist with [name removed] getting acclimated, and then shortly after that, my brother's monthly level of care increased [fee removed] /month. Sadly, safe, locked, memory care facilities are expensive. Special thanks to A Place For Mom for all you did as I was searching for a place for my brother.

We chose Somerford House and Place Hagerstown because of the location of the facility, we liked their memory care unit, and the price of the facility compared to others that we looked at. I would recommend this facility to others.

The Somerford House and Place Hagerstown community is clean, and the staff are friendly.

They were very kind to both my parents. They were very helpful and caring. Facility was clean and staff were always happy to come see Dad. We had a couple minor hiccups, but that may just be par for the course. Theirs is a tough job for sure.

I highly recommend Somerford House and Place Hagerstown. It is a clean, happy place. The staff is incredible. My mother loves the exercise class every morning as well as the other activities. The move from rehab to Somerford was made easy by the staff; they even had her room painted before she moved in. I would say the only negative is the menu. I hear many of the residents complain about the food, although they can request something else. Any family considering a place for mom or dad should visit Somerford before making a selection. I know they will be impressed.

What has made Somerford House and Place Hagerstown such a great experience so far, is the staff members they have working there. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families.

My loved one was here. My husband told me that if he ever needed this kind of help, he would definitely be going to Somerford House and Place Hagerstown first. It is top of the list.

The Somerford House is always very clean and the staff members are very friendly and very attentive. The day to day workers that look after our loved one have been great. The overall quality of care is good - but always room for improvement. However the communication with the upper management could be better and their response times could be somewhat quicker.

It's a difficult decision to make, but my loved one is doing so well there. They're wonderful. Every time I talk to her she tells me how much she loves it there. Her room always looks sparkling. The people are all so nice. She has changed so much since she's been there, and I know it's due to the excellent care they've been giving to her. They've been feeding her and looking after her, and it's like she's a different person she's doing so much better. The staff are available and happy to help whenever she needs it. She tells me she likes the food, everything she's had there. They have plenty of activities, so much so that I make sure I check the calendar so I don't interrupt her schedule!

So far we're very pleased by how things have gone at Somerford House! It is a nice looking place, and the staff have all been very friendly and attentive. They've been very flexible and proactive when it comes to caring for my parents, and I appreciate that they're willing to make changes at a moments notice if it means they'll get better care. I would advise families to double check that Somerford House has been thorough with their assessment, my parents were admitted into their assisted living, but a few days later they were moved to the memory care unit.

Wonderful staff, beautiful setting and facilities that are structured to accommodate the needs of the residents make Somerford a perfect fit for my mother, who has dementia. My mother started out at Somerford House (Assisted Living) and now resides in Somerford Place (Alzheimer's/Dementia building) and at each residence she was treated with respect and given excellent care by the staff members. The activities director is superb and loves her job and it shows. There is plenty for the residents to do and visitors are welcomed. When my mother has fallen, I receive prompt phone calls and if necessary, transportation to the hospital for observation is readily available and organized efficiently by the staff. I go to sleep each night knowing that my mother is being taken care of and you cannot put a price on that.

Very nice facility. Aunt was very much impressed. She is ready to sign and move but we are checking into Diakon at Robinwood.

Warm, inviting place. We liked that they have made efforts to remove any feeling of a cold medical facility. Director met us and was enthusiastic and compassionate. "I just wanted to hug her!" Four stars instead of five because it doesn't include an independent living option. Otherwise, the place seems quite nice.

Nice clean facility as well as friendly staff. Director is great to work with! I've requested & quickly responded to additional questions asked.
