Overall it was great experience, my mom made friends and the staff made her feel at home. She went to the daycare a few days a week then stayed for a respite stay of 10 days. I think they could have more activities but it is more like a boutique size which is nice as I feel they get more specialized care. It was at the top of my budget and I had to leave her in respite two days longer than planned as there was a virus going around. I didn't want to pull her out till I knew she wasn't contagious and I thought hat is why at the end of her stay the place didn't seem as clean as they were sequestered so I am sure the cleaners were kept at bay... My mom passed away a year ago. The overall experience At Serenades was awful. Mostly due to under staffing issues and under trained staff. End of life or near end of life care was abysmal. My main regret for my mom's last days is Serenades.

Response from Serenades at The Villages
June 12, 2024We sincerely apologize for any distress you and your mother experienced during her time with us. Your feedback is incredibly important, and we take it very seriously. We are committed to providing the best possible care and support to our residents and their families. Since your mother’s time with us, we have made several improvements to address staffing and training concerns. Our goal is to ensure that every resident receives compassionate, high-quality care, especially during such critical times. We would greatly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your concerns in more detail and learn how we can continue to improve. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at (352) 633-9017. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.
I have a lot of displeasure with the care, activity, medical attention, communication and general care. The industry in general, under perform their promises and continue to raise rates and fail in a lot of areas.

Response from Serenades at The Villages
June 12, 2024Thank you for your feedback. We take your concerns about care, activities, medical attention, communication, and overall service seriously. Please contact us at (352) 633-9017 so we can discuss your specific concerns and work towards a resolution. Your input is invaluable in helping us improve our services. Sincerely,
Do not let your loved one live here. It is woefully understaffed. There are some very nice people there trying very hard to do a good job, but they are overwhelmed. The place is not clean and once care gets near to end of life, they are at a complete loss on how to care for your loved one. Incorrectly medicating, not turning patients to prevent bed sores, poor communication, lack of training and bedside manner. I don't have nearly the space in this review to go over everything wrong with Serenades, but rest assured, you do not want anyone you love here. They will put your loved one onto Hospice almost immediately. Not to give better care, but to make more money for the facility. It is a for profit system and it shows. I wish the best for the staff who were caring and trying hard. I wish nothing but the worst for the Serenades management and the parent company of Serenades. There are plenty of other choices for care. Do not go here.

Good facility, friendly staff, good housekeeping, and good communication. They did not provide the cognitive therapy that we were expecting. The meals were average. I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

I wish I had chosen Serenades from the beginning. Management is hands-on. They are attentive to the residents and responsible to the caregivers. They do return calls. They provide me with alerts on the times when someone is coming to visit my person. They ask if I have any concerns. Meals are very good. I can't be there every moment, and I appreciate the care they provide to her and that they do what they say they're going to do. It’s definitely worth the cost.

I can't say enough good things about Serenades. Compared to the several facilities he's been in including Ohio and A Banyan, there is no comparison. Serenades has the most kind and caring Nurses and CNA's I have met. I hope this helps. This facility is awesome!!

Response from Serenades at The Villages
February 23, 2022Thank you for your review. I would love to hear more about your experience with our dining. Serenades' Bravo dining program is uniquely built to help stimulate the appetite of people with Alzheimer's and Dementia. If you would like to share more, please reach out to me at cdolan@sonatahc.com
I would advise to stay away from this community. If your loved one is at early stages of needing memory care and just needs a little bit of reminding this place may work. However anything beyond that they are not willing to help with it and require outside help. We were lied to, we moved our loved one from another area in Fl and i forwarded all information to make sure that there weren't any issues with insurance. They had the information and stated that she would be able to be seen by the doctor because she was in network. Once we got there she was never seen by a doctor and advised that her insurance was not covered. They could not manage her medication because of the doctor situation. When I moved my mother she was supposed to go by medical transport in a wheelchair and I was supposed to be called when she was picked up and I wasn't notified until after 1 hour later. It just wasn't run well and bad communication. The director of nursing left and no one was notified of it.

Our family had an in person tour and Serenades was beautiful, they did a great job explaining everything to us on the tour. They explained everything regarding insurance, and all the finances, but the location was just not going to work with our family.
Totally unsatisfied with the staff at Serenades. The sales person stressed the beautiful facility, but underplayed the staff. Not enough persons to take proper care of residents.I was told one thing by one person and another thing by a second person. Never got the full truth. The nurse shortened the hours of the aide I hired by two hours. My husband fell one hour after the aide left. I never had a valid explanation of how he fell and broke his hip. He had hospice service there, but when He was released from the hospital, Serenades refused to take him back even though my monthly rent was paid. I am still trying to get my refund.

Managerial staff completely incompetent. There’s a total lack of communication between the managerial staff and the clinical staff. Don’t let the beautiful facade fool you. If you Have a family member that can not advocate for themselves or do not have a medical professional in your family, I would not recommend this place unless you want your loved one to suffer like our family member and family did.

To whom it may concern: I was very impressed with the Serenades at the Villages in Lady Lake, FL. You walk in and it feels like home. Everyone is gracious and very helpful, especially your community relations personnel. It also impressed me how clean and bright the facility was. If a friend or a family member was needing a place live in the declining years I would highly recommend the Serenades at the Villages.

When we first moved our family member to Serenades it was outstanding and continued that way until September 2017. Since then the care staff was reduced. Followup from all staff is non existent. The lack of care has dwindled. Team [removed] is no longer involved with the activities. Some of the newer residents should be there as their needs/actions require a higher level of care. There are some very caring aides, unfortunately they are overworked. What was once outstanding, is now in a tailspin and needs corrections.
