They mean well, staff are very nice. I think a certain personality of person would make a good fit to be a resident there. Think sometimes confusing for people that it is independent living, i.e., after 5pm no supervisor or management nor on call contact that answers. Yet they have some AL capabilities such as Bayada therapies and Sunrise a la carte services. I wish my Mom had stayed, she did not like the food at all.

I would recommend Seaton Voorhees to anybody in need of an independent living community. The staff are excellent - they're very helpful. The apartment is awesome. It was completely redone when we moved in, and they did an excellent job with it. It's a nice size for what she's paying, and she loves it. They just need to work on the food. It could use more variety, could be cooked with more flavor, and she wishes they offered more options, etc.

After being in her home for 64 years, she transitioned to the Voohees, NJ location. She was familiar with that particular location because her mother was there May years ago. The staff could. It have been more welcoming and accommodating. They were accessible and answered our countless questions

Everybody there is very friendly. But they are so understaffed and have so many vacancies. When we toured, they said they had routine bus service on a weekly basis to take people shopping and to appointments. But that is not the case currently. They are trying to making accommodations for doctor appointments. They're short on kitchen staff. I don't even think they have a general manager. The person I always meet with is the assistant general manager. The transition in ownership has caused huge problems. They don't have a maintenance man. It's just all very disappointing. A lot of people don't come out of their rooms for dinner. Seaton Voorhees charges extra to deliver food to the rooms to try to discourage that. But if you're looking for socialization, it's perhaps not the best situation. I think they could do a lot more to make the meals more enjoyable. The dining room is very basic. The overall facility looks a little rundown as far as furniture and décor and maintenance issues that aren't handled on a timely basis. My loved one's apartment is updated and is fine overall. He tells me he loves it. He also says the food is pretty good and the people are friendly. Right now they're just going through some transitional problems with the change in management. And shortage of staff and maintenance issues need improvement. So hopefully that will all improve as the new management gets more settled.

April 29, 2022Thank you for your review and voicing your concerns. Unfortunately during times of transition there can be times of turbulence. We appreciate you bearing with us. We are looking forward to positive change within our community and great leadership with Seaton Voorhees.
2 1/2 years ago we moved our mom in... the GM was amazing, the staff amazing. Once the GM left, the place was never the same. The food has declined from nutritious meals 3x a day to inedible food or sandwiches (hot dogs, bologna & cheese) -- but the rent continues to go up. Shuttle service for residents has been actually "available" maybe 6 months out of the 2 1/2 years my mom's been there. Nothing about the place is reliable... except for the rent going up every year.

Yardley Commons is an amazing senior living facility. I can't say enough good things from the staff to the food to the building and activities. I would recommend Yardley to any senior that needs to move from like my mother in law.

{Name removed} Great person sociable and caring. Does work diligently.
The staff is very accommodating and helpful. I would tell my family.
Yardley Commons did not have what we were looking for. They have no staff there from 7 at night until 7 in the morning, so if anything were to go wrong or you have an emergency, you have to call 911.

December 7, 2021Thank you for taking the time to share your comments. As our community is an independent living community, there is no requirement to have someone on premises 24 hours a day. Our community is an independent senior living community; however, our residents have the option of hiring third-party caregivers should they need them. Please feel free to reach out to our management team at Yardley Commons to discuss your concerns further. Thank you
I think the the place is very nice and immaculately clean. I think the staff do a very good job. And what they charge is reasonable compared to other places I looked at.

Our loved one really likes the food that they serve, and because of the pandemic they had to shut down all the activities. We enjoy the help that they give. The staff members go out of their way to help our loved one and we would recommend this community to others.

Before COVID i would of given this community a five out of five stars, but now given the circumstances i would have to give this community a one out of five stars. We had to pay for some aids to come and check on our loved one five times a day, which eventually we dropped it down to three times a day. They were supposed to check her insulin numbers and write it down in a book to keep track. Unfortunately some of the aids would forget to write those numbers down so they would have no idea where her levels were out when we would call to check in on her. The house keeping was great, the nursing staff was great, but the food services were a one out of five stars. Our loved has missed about 25 meals because they would forget to bring up her food to her. For breakfast every single day she would receive the same thing which was just a scrambled egg. If you were to sick to come down and get your food, you would have to let the staff know so they could bring up the food to your room, but at times they would forget and she would go hungry. Some activities they had before COVID were happy hours of Friday nights, flower arranging classes once a week. They would take the residents out on little outings, have game nights, live music as well as church services. the rooms are nice in size, and the community is well decorated.

The community gets along very well. The food and communication can be better. We did recently get a new General Manager. The activities director is the only person and when they are out sick, then there is no one to take over for them. I feel that the person in charge of the entertainment needs to go. Overall there is a lacking of communication between staff to staff. The lack of communication with the residents is lacking as well. I feel that the staff feels like they can get things over on the residents. [name removed] was top notch, [name removed] is a tremendous person and she goes above and beyond. The residents love [name removed]. Overall it is nice. I get along with the staff very well. I look out for the other residents as well. I would recommend this community if I had to. The food is bad, and I haven't eaten the food here in two-and-a-half months.

A Place for Mom has scored Seaton Voorhees 8.3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
