I contacted A Place For Mom to help me find an independent living facility because I was moving my mother from Pennsylvania to New Jersey so that we could be closer. [name removed] was very helpful and provided me with different facilities that matched what I was looking for. Seaton Voorhees was one of the facilities [name removed] recommended. After a tour and speaking with management, I was convinced that Seaton was "the place for mom". Mom has been there about 2 months and she is very happy. Great accommodations and meals along with numerous activities and entertainment for the residents. I highly recommend Seaton Voorhees to anyone looking for a home for their senior loved one.... They are allowing people that need assisted living in the site but not enough people to help them. They say you get towels well the towels are paper thin and you can only dry your face and head with them they need security cameras outside they give you alert buttons but you can’t contact anyone at night because if there is a problem there is nobody to help you they need more cleaning staff because the cleaning ladies serve breakfast then go do the job they are hired for they are not hiring enough help. Concern resident nobody listens

It's a smaller building so it has a homey environment. The staff are kind and caring. Problems that occur with regard to the building they address it as quickly as they can

Everyone has been welcoming. In fact, [name removed] and her husband came in on a Sunday to help connect my dad's TV because of how important it was to him. The community is close to shopping and medical services, such as dialysis. The place is clean and organized, with renovated apartments and delicious food options. I strongly recommend Seaton Voorhees to others.

They have cared so much about my mom and go above and beyond in truly caring and looking out for each other as a community. Seaton keeps getting better and better with updating the building and improving the quality of services

The entire staff made the transition for my uncle, so welcoming and stress free as possible. The apartments are clean and spacious. We chose this place because of cleanliness and value.

My loved one is currently a resident at Seaton Voorhees and overall her experience at this facility has been good. The friendliness is great. The cleanliness and staff are good. The activities and value for cost are okay. Communication with the family was good initially, but now they don't respond like they used to. My loved one thinks that the food is terrible.

Based on the experience with Seaton Voorhees community we have had so far, we definitely think the food could be improved. The service and the quality of the meals leaves a lot to be desired.

I am currently a resident at Seaton Voorhees. Moving into this facility is the second biggest mistake that I have made in my life. The facility cleanliness is good. The friendliness and care services here are okay. The activities are good. Overall, the value for cost is poor. The meals and dining are both terrible. The dining room here at this facility is a total disaster. Also, the Chef couldn't be a cook in an Army mess hall. I would go back to my previous facility tomorrow, if I could. I would not recommend Seaton Voorhees to others.

The tour the family had at Seaton Voorhees was wonderful. In fact after being at another community, the family decided to move our loved one to Seaton Voorhees.
been here over 2 months and still waiting for a decent key to my mailbox, had to struggle with it to open and close and now I can’t get it to close. still waiting for a shower sprayer and dowels for my blinds. The food was good for about 2 wks and we had 2 meal choices for dinner and lunch. and choices are not always healthy or edible. you can’t get a substitute for it either until everyone has gotten their food. Cleaning is poor. no bus as advertised!

I only have one thing to say and it’s about the voorhees yardly commons in the cafeteria I noticed that they keep the heat at 60 degrees without the residents in then when the residents come in to eat they turn it back up to 76 degrees well that defeats the purpose not only does it use more fuel but also puts a big strain on the heater check with the heater people

They mean well, staff are very nice. I think a certain personality of person would make a good fit to be a resident there. Think sometimes confusing for people that it is independent living, i.e., after 5pm no supervisor or management nor on call contact that answers. Yet they have some AL capabilities such as Bayada therapies and Sunrise a la carte services. I wish my Mom had stayed, she did not like the food at all.

I would recommend Seaton Voorhees to anybody in need of an independent living community. The staff are excellent - they're very helpful. The apartment is awesome. It was completely redone when we moved in, and they did an excellent job with it. It's a nice size for what she's paying, and she loves it. They just need to work on the food. It could use more variety, could be cooked with more flavor, and she wishes they offered more options, etc.

After being in her home for 64 years, she transitioned to the Voohees, NJ location. She was familiar with that particular location because her mother was there May years ago. The staff could. It have been more welcoming and accommodating. They were accessible and answered our countless questions

Everybody there is very friendly. But they are so understaffed and have so many vacancies. When we toured, they said they had routine bus service on a weekly basis to take people shopping and to appointments. But that is not the case currently. They are trying to making accommodations for doctor appointments. They're short on kitchen staff. I don't even think they have a general manager. The person I always meet with is the assistant general manager. The transition in ownership has caused huge problems. They don't have a maintenance man. It's just all very disappointing. A lot of people don't come out of their rooms for dinner. Seaton Voorhees charges extra to deliver food to the rooms to try to discourage that. But if you're looking for socialization, it's perhaps not the best situation. I think they could do a lot more to make the meals more enjoyable. The dining room is very basic. The overall facility looks a little rundown as far as furniture and décor and maintenance issues that aren't handled on a timely basis. My loved one's apartment is updated and is fine overall. He tells me he loves it. He also says the food is pretty good and the people are friendly. Right now they're just going through some transitional problems with the change in management. And shortage of staff and maintenance issues need improvement. So hopefully that will all improve as the new management gets more settled.

Response from Seaton Voorhees
April 29, 2022Thank you for your review and voicing your concerns. Unfortunately during times of transition there can be times of turbulence. We appreciate you bearing with us. We are looking forward to positive change within our community and great leadership with Seaton Voorhees.
2 1/2 years ago we moved our mom in... the GM was amazing, the staff amazing. Once the GM left, the place was never the same. The food has declined from nutritious meals 3x a day to inedible food or sandwiches (hot dogs, bologna & cheese) -- but the rent continues to go up. Shuttle service for residents has been actually "available" maybe 6 months out of the 2 1/2 years my mom's been there. Nothing about the place is reliable... except for the rent going up every year.
