All was pretty well except management being unresponsive and a lot of turn over. Communication was the worst. I wouldn't recommend now that I see how nice [removed] is. No communication with director or caregiver management. The Caregivers were very good though and even gave their personal cell phone numbers.

November 1, 2024Though we appreciate all feedback. Scottsdale Village Square has no authority here. This review should be redirected to Oxford Health, as they provide the Skilled Nursing services at this location.

October 11, 2024Craig, thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a positive review, we’re so happy to hear you’ve had a great experience at Scottsdale Village Square.
If we could give them a 0 we would. Soon after my dad was admitted into SVS the executive Director had changed twice and soon after that, the Director of nursing and many others resigned the new Director of nursing often blamed us. There was a new business manager that I had to continually hound at the beginning to get forms filled out for my dad and for me to be reimbursed. eventually a new executive Director came and he was trying, but there was so much damage and so many people coming and going they were unsure of how to do or take care of my dad. They hired many caregivers that were not qualified and really were quite lazy. There were a handful that tried but soon they could not keep up or turn the tide. I do not recommend them and actually have the state looking into some of the problems that are there.

September 16, 2024We are always disappointed when people do not think highly of our resident care, but we need to clarify that this review should be directed at Oxford Health. Oxford Health is a separate company who manages the Skilled Nursing Unit for memory care. We will forward this to the staff at Oxford Health, but you should reach out to them for their input as to the quality of care being provided. Remember, due to privacy laws nothing can be discussed on social media platforms so we suggest that you do so in person or via the telephone.
They are very short staffed. The staff they do have are wonderful, but even with hospice, he's eating off of dirty dishes in his room unless I come and wash them. They aren't able to get him to shower so he and his room smell all the time. I'm very frustrated and believe he may need to be somewhere with total care.

September 16, 2024While we appreciate your positive comments about our staff, we are troubled over the concerns you raise here in this review. This could be a review that should be sent over to Oxford Health, it’s a separate company that handles the skilled nursing areas of our community. If this is the case, please stop by and speak with their executive director.
They have recently been bought by another owner and now have a new activity director and nurse coordinator (they didn't have one of their own for several months and were making errors). The quality of care has improved since then. My parents chose this one over several others because their front door opens to a green space; just like a regular condo or apartment and they've been allowed to make minor customizations to the interior and garden space in front of their apartment to feel like their home.

July 1, 2024Anonymous, thank you for taking the time to leave this positive review! We value your feedback and appreciate your kind words about Scottsdale Village Square.
I can’t really say much because my mom was only there a short time. I was frustrated when I need to get a hold of someone when I needed them to check on her. It also happened when we were moving out of her belongings we couldn’t get an employee to unlock gate for us. The few times we ate there the food was good. I feel like it’s a better place for a senior with more independence. Maybe not so much for someone with advanced Alzheimer’s as in my mom’s case.

June 24, 2024Hi Dianna, your feedback and high star rating mean a lot to us. Thank you for taking the time to leave this review for our community!
My parents have been at SVS since [Date Removed]. Nothing that they said has held true. There are no activities as promised. When I was shown the apartments there were so many great deals they were offering then when it. Amen to sign they disappeared. They could careless who is where as long as they get paid. Getting in contact with them was hard and not what you would expect for paying the money that you do. They did not tell us that the employee smoking area is right beside them which is also right beside a covered caged patio with screaming night and day. The food is blah and again activities are minimal. Pass this one by and save yourself the money and headache as moving out will be closer than you anticipate.

June 26, 2024We are always interested in hearing from new residents as it can take some time to adjust and get used to a new place. We know that you have had a productive conversation with the executive director who has reviewed the issues you mentioned. If you have any additional concerns, please feel free to contact David directly.
First, I was told that we could move in with no charges for the end of February which happened to be just two days but when I got the charges, they were charged, plus the entire bill had multiple mistakes. When I tried to speak to [name removed] in the billing department all I could do was leave voicemails and never could get her directly on the phone. I did send email with all the charged mistakes and I'm still waiting to hear back and I have been waiting to talk to them about the billing since the beginning of March. Secondly, when my dad and stepmom were moved in, they did not organize to get their prescriptions for at least a week. This caused my father to have to go into the hospital because he wasn't able to urinate. The nurse Jacquie while she's very nice, I think she's the only nurse for the whole facility , and she is not there on the weekends. There is no nursing care at all in the evenings or on weekends. Also the directors offered to move my father and stepmother into a two bedroom at no additional charge since the one bedroom was way too small for them and my father couldn't get through the door with his walker to go to the bathroom . It took about two months after they said it would only be a week to move them. The facility, especially Carl one of the directors, had offered to move them at no charge when it came time I ended up paying about $2000 to outside Movers and the facility charged me $500 for the move, which still to this day I don't know why. My father right now is on hospice and for three days now, the nurse told my father they would move his bed from a bedroom into the living room so he can be with his wife and his big TV and I'm still waiting for that to happen. Everything seems to take a long time and it's really impossible to get anyone on the phone.

May 21, 2024We understand the myriad of decisions that need to be made during the important move into a senior living community. And, as with any move, there are additional considerations such as bringing medications with you to allow time for physician orders/changes to be transferred. Much of this review is covered within our lease agreement, but due to privacy laws, we are not able to fully respond to care issues on a social media site. This includes some responsibilities that hospice may need to address. We want you to feel comfortable and welcome in our community, so please rest assured knowing that there is a licensed nurse present on campus and is always available to handle care staff questions. Of course, if a medical emergency should arise, we would call 911.
I would recommend Scottsdale Village Square to others. I think that it is well groomed and that the people are very nice and kind to my mother. Could there be better communication between the caretakers and the children taking care of parents? Yes. I think at least monthly phone calls should be made to update on if they're taking their showers, if they're going to meals, and things of that nature.

January 29, 2024Hi, thank you for leaving this detailed review about your experience with our community! We always strive to provide top quality service and are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your experience here at Scottsdale Village Square, A Pacifica Senior Living Community. Thank you again, we hope that you have a great day!
They've been good. They underwent a change in ownership a couple months ago and communications suffered during the transition, but has since improved. They have 2 busses for taking residents to activities and appointments and both were broken for a few months, but those are also fixed now. Everything else has been great

October 26, 2023We’re so happy to hear you’ve had a great experience at Scottsdale Village Square, A Pacifica Senior Living Community. We appreciate your feedback and are thankful that you took the time to leave us this positive review!
I marked down for some information given during interview turned out to be untrue. For example, I thought there was a pharmacy on site and had same day service. My mom waited 10 days for one of her meds. Also, Friday days out didn't happen for several months due to the fan's air conditioner being down. Should have rented a van. Apartment floor and sliding glass door and patio were not clean upon arrival. Outdoor spaces should be power-washed frequently due to dirt and bird doodles. People have been friendly to residents. My mom was very thankful for maintenance helping her with mounting things in her apartment often upon move-in. Mom says chicken is served too often for her liking. She was thankful that chef was willing to make her eggs benedict once a week. She is enjoying the Friday's out and is looking forward to the Halloween party. I am pleased that she is engaged in activities. While it is less expensive than many senior residences, it is still expensive. Garden Feel- Outdoor catwalks makes residence feel like a regular apartment building. Friendly staff, activities and good food. Recommend especially for the price.

October 26, 2023We want to thank you for the kind words about our staff and our community and it sounds as if your mother is happy in our community. That said, we read every review and use the constructive suggestions as teachable moments so we will share this information with our Activities Director, Food Services Director and Maintenance Manager. If you have any future issues with medications management, please reach out directly to the Resident Care Director or the Executive Director.
Right now I can say that my loved one is content being a resident at Scottsdale Village Square. My loved one does complain about the food being awful, but I think it looks pretty good. They are in a transition there with a new Director of Assisted Living. It is very difficult to discuss the business side of this as the director is usually unavailable. I've been looking at different places near us that can be more helpful with working with me so that there aren't constant mix ups concerning paperwork and billing. I do want to add that, as of the last few days, they have hired a new financial person that I just spoke with to clear up the issues we have had with over charges and late fees. Scottsdale Village Square is a good place with friendly staff, but make sure to check regularly with your loved one and the facility to be assured things are running smoothly.

October 3, 2023We appreciate that you took the time to offer insight of your experience at our community. We read all comments and use many as teachable moments. We are glad that you see improvement in the business office and hope that this continues. We agree, Scottsdale Village Square if a good place with friendly staff but it is always good advice to check regularly on your love one and the facility to ensure that things run smoothly.
We toured with Scottsdale Village Square and it was horrifying. They had prison bars keeping the people in memory care (interestingly not in their pictures on line) and very little indoor group space. Also there were lots of broken things and they wouldn't even let me see the skilled nursing area which was what we thought we originally needed. I felt so sad for those people there in memory care.
Response from Scottsdale Village Square, A Pacifica Senior Living Community
August 28, 2023We are very sorry that you had a visceral reaction to the skilled nursing area. Witnessing a memory decline in the ones we love is devastating for families and we try to be sensitive to people’s privacy. You reacted to the wrought ironwork, which admittedly needs painting. We anticipate that this should be done soon but we do not have a timeline. We are not sure about the broken things but have checked with the staff. You are right, we do not normally conduct tours of the skilled nursing area unless your loved one is a match for the service needs.
Every minute from the initial phone call to the day we moved in my mom, we have experienced nothing short of superior service, exceptional care and wonderful people. I cannot recommend Scottsdale Village Square high enough. If you are looking for a place for your loved one, contact. [name removed], Sales Director. She is so incredibly empathetic, understanding, caring and professional. From the day we met her we knew we were in great hands....but....we were blown away on move in day! In 100 degree weather, [name removed] met us with cold bottled waters, a moving cart and helped every step of the way moving my mom in. She made certain my mom was comfortable, that the staff met her immediately and that we were happy and felt comfortable as well. There is never a delay in communication and everyone there on staff is incredibly attentive! We have the utmost respect for [name removed], [name removed] the Assisted Living Care Manager and the staff. You and your loved will be in the best of care!

May 25, 2023Hi Carrilee, thank you for sharing this positive review about your experience with our community! Here at Scottsdale Village Square, A Pacifica Senior Living Community, we always strive for top-quality service and are glad we could provide it for you.
My mom and I recently toured Scottsdale Village Square with [name removed]. She was so welcoming, friendly and helpful, answering all our questions. She gave us a tour of the grounds which has a beautiful pool, jacuzzi, lots of mature trees and well maintained landscaping with paved walkways. The dining room where they provide 3 meals a day, is nicely decorated and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. Although we showed up well past lunchtime, they kindly provided us with homemade soup and sandwiches. We liked that they have lots of activities going on every day with different rooms and gathering places. [name removed] also showed us a couple of the rooms currently available - a studio and a semi-private room. Unfortunately, the 1 bedroom is out of our price range and my mom didn't like the idea of a semi-private so she didn't choose to live here. If money wasn't an issue, my mom really liked the place and ideally would have liked a 1 bedroom. I recommend checking it out.

May 8, 2023Thank you for sharing these kind words with us about our community. It means the world to our team at Scottsdale Village Square, A Pacifica Senior Living Community!
They were chosen because the rooms felt more apartment like. The grounds are pretty and the apartments open to the outdoors as opposed to a hotel or institutional feel. My biggest complaint is that no one, in either the financial or medical departments have ever, ever returned my phone calls. I placed a call initially with medical regarding questions having to do with coordinating medication since the pharmacy used did not provide everything. After many messages, I finally drove 3 hours to show up in their office. Info was exchanged and issues resolved...all of which could've simply been handled over the phone. an email (over a week's span of time). All have been ignored.

January 24, 2023Thank you for this positive recommendation! We are very proud of our team at Scottsdale Village Square and they will be thrilled to hear your feedback. Thank you!
Overall, it is a good place for our loved one. The staff are friendly. The food is good and he enjoys the dining hall. It's clean, the apartment is nice, and he is well cared for. The value seems about average. It would be cheaper for a person who did not require as much care. The caregivers themselves are great, but the communication and lack of staff have at times been an issue. When he first arrived, it seemed that there had been a large staff turnover. There was a new director for assisted living who did not stay long and the position was vacant for a while. There was a brief confusion about cleaning our loved one's room. All that has been sorted out. The medical care has been very good- and he came in with many medical issues. He does not participate in activities but does enjoy socializing in the dining hall.
