The nonprofit Sarah Daft Home in Salt Lake City, Utah, opened its doors over a hundred years ago with a mission that it carries through today: “to provide affordable quality care in a homelike setting.” Our founders envisioned a place for senior adults to have easy access to assisted living services where worries are few and friends are many. Care takes place within a gorgeous Colonial Revival building set up on a hillside overlooking the valley. As a nonprofit, we’re able to make decisions to improve the lives of the residents we see everyday, not to increase profits. The difference is evident in our compassionate staff, glowing reviews, and smiling residents.

The manager that showed us around on our tour was helpful. It felt very homey. But it was a very old building that needed updating. It just wasn’t the right fit for my mom.
It is a really great option for assisted living. I would highly recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The staff are friendly and engaging towards the residents and families. There is a different activity each day to engage the residents in. The food looks good, has a variety of options, and on the healthy side.

A close family friend is here. The pro of this placement is the activities. The activity department is proactive, compassionate, and always looking to get people involved. However, the health services department struggles significantly. They struggle to comply with the care plans and provide proper care. The CNAs claim they are understaffed or too overwhelmed when asked why multiple showers in a week are missed. Their supervisor is even less helpful when asked. Recently we were told “I don’t know” when we inquired about why her staff neglected to shower the family friend for the past week, despite it being included in the care plan. This is not the first encounter, in fact the family hasn’t gone more than two weeks without showers being ignored and missed by the health service department. The main goal of assisted livings is to preserve quality of life and health, something this location clearly doesn’t value under the current leadership team.
