Not for profit so not as expensive as others. Only saw elderly women in wheel chairs. Services are good.

The Sanctuary 3 years ago was a wonderful Place. I felt so fortunate to get my mother in there for rehab and the assisted living after breaking her femur. Approximately 2 years ago without any notification to family the day to day operations were turned over to "AHF" a non profit. What a disaster. The quality of food dropped to a zero, Staffing was cut dramatically and the wonderful staff they had there left. The new staff was anything but sub par. The doctor for the facility was totally inaccessible and never spoke to me, a family, member, nor gave me a face to face assessment of my mothers health. Requests to have pertinent information passed on from am staff to pm staff usually was non existent. Their emergency call system was from the dark ages. It consists of a long cord with a button to push at the end for help. Help sometimes took ages to arrive. In the bathroom which was totally not visible from the hall there was a string with a push button to pull and it was attached next to the toilet. The last year of her life she fell on the floor an average of once a week and I shudder to think of those times she fell to the floor and was there invisible to all for long periods of time. On October 15,2017 my mother had her lower leg turn purple and blue, cold and no pulse. All this at 5am on a Sunday. Only the day nurse called me at 1000am to tell me the doctor ordered a doppler whose arrival was unknown because it was a Sunday and they were busy. My husband and I rushed over and immediately had to tell the nurse to call 911. When queried as to why an ambulance was not called early in the morning her reply was"She has a DNR" In other words because of the DNR whatever was going to happen was ok and evidently not urgent. My mother passed on Oct. 22 after much pain and suffering. It was heartbreaking to watch! Please don't send your loved ones there, there are better places unless you just don;t care..In my opinion the oversight is non existent and IMMEDIATE correction and monitoring should be forced by the state.

We chose this smaller community because it would not be so overwhelming for my mom. My mom had been independent for so many years it has been a difficult transition for her to acclimate to this new structured lifestyle. It is one of the cleaner places that I have toured. The general atmosphere is warm and inviting. The staff that they have are friendly, it just seems that they are understaffed and overwhelmed at times. The management is trying to remedy the situation by hiring more staff. My mom thinks the food is good. The social director does try to get her involved in the activities. They bring in good entertainment, animals, and fun things for the residents to do. There is a nice courtyard nicely landscaped for the residents to either sit or walk around to enjoy the fresh air.
