This was a wonderful place when I first brought my mom here a few years ago. But the place has deteriorated and the staff is leaving for other jobs. A company called Frontier has taken over and it is clear they only care about money. They have allowed the place to become shabby and the staff is clearly demoralized

Response from Reserve at Braeswood
November 6, 2023Hello Karen, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience. Our team strives to provide a friendly and warm environment and your feedback helps us improve. If you are willing to discuss your concerns further, please reach out to us at ResidentExperience@frontiermgmt.com.
The Reserve at Braeswood was formerly known as Colonial Oaks Memory Care. The name change ensued for unknown reasons. The address is the same as Colonial Oaks Memory Care. The nursing director and Executive director may have changed if this is truly another facility with different management. The activity director and sales/marketing team are very professional and courteous. Residents received the COVID-19 vaccine quickly with family permission.

Our father, who Alzheimer's, recently moved into Colonial Oaks Braeswood from Florida. Our mother has passed away and we needed to quickly find a place for him to be near us in Houston. They were immediately accommodating. Answering all of us our questions, providing a virtual tour, and above all being understanding and thoughtful throughout the process of selecting the senior home that would be the best fit for our father. We are incredibly happy and thankful we made the decision to bring him to Colonial Oaks. The staff is knowledgeable, kind, caring. They engage with our father and have made him feel at home. We have peace of mind knowing he is safe and enjoy seeing him as well as the friendly staff when we visit.
Colonial Oaks Braeswood has been such a huge blessing to our family. We were struggling with finding the right fit/great place for Mom (after a not great experience elsewhere), and then Colonial Oaks Braeswood was recommended to us by several people. From our first meeting, [name removed] met me with warmth, understanding and kindness, and made such a stressful and hard time easier. [Name removed] and the amazing activities director [name removed], and staff have continued to be wonderful and caring to Mom (and me!!). The staff at Colonial Oaks provides the personal, individualized attention our loved ones need to thrive. Mom has actually improved incredibly with their attention and care. Highly recommend checking out Colonial Oaks Braeswood for your loved one.

We placed my husband’s stepmother in this facility. Every aspect has been so great and such a relief. The staff are caring and kind, the administration is listening, understanding and effective, and most of all my mother-in-law is happy. She loves most of the staff and they love her. The activities director offers a comprehensive set of stimulating activities that has simply made my mother-in-law come alive again. I am so grateful to Colonial Oaks Braeswood.

The community smelled and looked good. They take phone calls from the family all the time. The administrator has been responsive to the families needs. Moving my mom to this community has been a great positive change for her, compared to the prior community that she was at. The staff, including the night staff has been great. The staff has all been responsive and knowledgeable. They are quick to resolve any issues that my loved one and the family have. The food is enjoyed by my loved one, and provide snacks as well. The community allows virtual visits. There are opportunities with outside visits as well. Colonial Oaks is always providing activities that my mom enjoys.

We have been very pleased with our experience at Colonial Oaks. We chose this facility because he needed more care than his others facility could provide and they were able to provide it here. The rooms sizes here are on the smaller side but they are private rooms with private bathrooms which is nice. I would recommend to others looking.

We absolutely loved this community, they took such good care of our loved one. We really could not of been happier and we would recommend this community to anyone. The friendliness of the staff members would be a five plus, and i thought the food was very good and the chef really worked so hard. The activities were great, and the activity coordinator was incredible. The value of this community was wonderful as well.

We are glad to have found Colonial Oaks for our mom. Having her in another place that wasn't the right fit for her gives us a chance to understand what a wonderful place Colonial Oaks is. From the beginning, the staff and director made us feel comfortable knowing mom will be well taken care of. Our mom has only been there for three weeks and we have already received a call from a physical therapist and the doctor updating us on her improvements. This is directly related to the level of attention from the staff.

When a loved one needs memory care, it is a hard time for the family member making the decision. In the middle of a pandemic, it’s like making a decision completely in the dark. After my husband was poorly attended to in another memory care facility, I felt I had to move him. As a result of two strong referrals to Colonial Oaks at Braeswood, I made the decision to move him. My view is, if he’d gone to Colonial Oaks in the first place, he’d be doing better now because of the professional and kind care he is receiving there. The staff at Colonial Oaks seem intent on providing care designed to help those with memory loss have a happy and stimulating environment in a family-like atmosphere.

My experience in having my mother at Colonial Oaks Braeswood has been nothing but positive. The facility is clean and bright, and great care is taken to make the residents’ surroundings positive and upbeat. The limited size of the facility also guarantees that no one is overlooked and that everyone gets the one-on-one attention that he or she requires. The doctor and neuropsychologist treating her contacted me within the first weeks of her settling in to explain their evaluation of her condition and proposed plan of treatment, and I have also spoken with her nurse frequently. The executive director and community relations director are very involved and were available and particularly helpful in the first weeks, and they have continued to be extremely helpful. Most impressive is the degree of care and attention that the residents receive, not the least of which is a variety of daily activities that keep them mentally and physically engaged and provide group interaction.

I am so happy to have moved my mother to Colonial Oaks! After almost a year in another Memory Care home I have something to compare it to. The level of care my mother is receiving now at Colonial Oaks far exceeds our prior experience. Everyone I have encountered at Colonial Oaks, from the directors to the doctors, to the activity director, to the caregivers have shown that the health and well-being of the residents is their primary concern. The staff are friendly and accessible while providing a very high level of care. During my mom's first few weeks at Colonial Oaks I received a call from a nurse and then a call from a psychiatrist, both of whom spoke with me at-length about what they had observed in my mother as well as suggestions regarding her on-going care. I was deeply impressed with their concern for my mother's well-being, Their calls indicate to me that they see my mother as an individual and that they were intent on providing her with an individualized care plan, tailored to her specific needs. I am now confident that my mother will enjoy a quality of life at Colonial Oaks and a quality of care that we have been searching for. And I now have the piece of mind I have been searching for!

It is a great place that feels secure, safe, and very friendly. From the cooks to the cleaners, everyone was most welcoming and caring as well. I felt safe with her being there and I felt that they would take good care of her. I would definitely recommend this community to other families. We chose this community because the director and assistant director were so friendly and most helpful. They were were welcoming and all the staff added that personal touch.

Every time we were able to go before COVID, we found her to be clean, well taken care of , and well fed. The communication is great. When she does have any health issues, they call immediately They really try to be careful keeping everyone well. She seems to have adapted to living there very well. The community always looks clean and they are no unpleasant odors there. They keep the decor minimal so its safest for the residents.

Absolutely heaven! Thank you so much, Colonial Oaks for all your excellent loving care for my mother. She is doing so well and I am thankful I found this wonderful place for her. Everyone there is very attentive, gentle, caring and do their best for the residents. The building and grounds are well kept and clean. The staff is excellent and many have been there for years. The meals are well prepared, healthy, have proper nutrition and in generous portions. I can't say enough about how happy I am that my mother is in this excellent place.

This a pretty nice community, and my tour of it went well. Everyone was kind, and helpful. The staff was friendly, and informative. From what we saw they do a good job with the cleanliness around the facility. The experience went well, but I did find another community that suited our needs better.
