What we like the most about Red Cedar Lodge is that it is handicapped accessible. Based on the experience we have had so far, yes we would recommend this community to others. They will negotiate price but the food is average, the rooms and facilities are nice. Not much for activities, the do take occasional trips. But I still like the building, it's clean. Doors are hard to open. That's a problem... Read more
Opening in the Fall of 2022, Red Cedar Lodge will offer residents in Lansing, Michigan, the unique opportunity to live in a state-of-the-art senior living community with amenities to rival the most luxurious hotels. The designers focused on the details to make this a uniquely ideal experience for Michigan residents, from the Michigan State University greens which abut the construction to the chosen colors for the interior design.
With 127 units becoming available, residents will have plenty of options for their housing. They can choose from studio apartments to spacious two-bedroom, two-bathroom living quarters. At least 16 of the units will be reserved for memory care. The exterior resembles a high-end hotel or luxury apartment building, with immaculately landscaped groups, walking trails, and gardens. Inside, residents will find multiple common areas with comfortable seating, fireplaces, and unique amenities like craft rooms, a fully equipped gym, and a chapel. A social club with a bar is an ideal spot to catch up with friends for a happy hour. While the apartments are distinctly comfortable, many residents will want to spend most of their time socializing in these common areas.
Staff members are fully vetted and trained to accommodate most needs, from mobility to...

Mother in law was moved in after 6 week at nursing home to receive rehab for congestive heart failure diagnosis….she was still weak and in need of assistance (24) hr care family members all took turns staying through the evening with her but that became overwhelming and difficult to navigate as we have children, jobs and home to take care of but when your mom goes thru this we all wanted her to be safe and in a home environment as she wasn’t well enough to be at home anymore…from the moment we all toured the facility and were able to discuss options with very informative staff we decided this would be a great fit… when we moved her in she was in independent living but her health continued to decline and she needed more one on one care she was having severe memory issues and was moved to memory care floor which was an awesome floor with polite and compassionate care givers who helped Fran and our family transition thru hospice where she in a short period of time went to meet the lord

This has been the best experience ever with any of my family members being in a senior living Environment the staff is exquisite, very attentive and caring!! The daily experience is unbelievable. The food is great. All staff upstairs on fifth floor are friendly and willing to help with anything. This has been the best place for my father.

There is a real problem with management, understanding, state regulations, implementing policies and procedures, and helping staff with schedules. We are always understaffed due to scheduling, call offs and failure to hire enough staff. The care staff here is wonderful, just not enough of them. My husband and I love living here, we just notice the stress on staff due to understaffing, which I understand is an industry wide issue.

It's been a great experience, even with the management upheaval and difficulty finding staff. They are open to resident suggestions and requests. I would definitely recommend it to others.

RCL is def a place for my mom to call home!!! She loves it there as do my siblings and I. My mom came from anther facility and RCL has met our expectations for taking care of my mom! We have been looking at different facilities and well, if I have a question RCL communicates with me within reason. Communication is probably one of our key factors along with the care that my mom has. And RCL truly goes above and beyond. One great thing that we notice is all the family interactions that come and see their loved ones there! Other facilities we did not notice that! Staff is great and personable. Move in process was easy and a smooth transition for my mom. Food is excellent! Kudos to the chef! I would definitely recommend RCL to others.

It is has a very homelike setting! Nice that you can be involved in things or just stay home. Feels like an apartment for her. Love the way they do their dining experience. And love that they have a bar.

It was head and shoulders above the other places I looked at - physical space and atmosphere. They are new. New and inexperienced. My concern was not addressed that my Mom had become delirious with a UTI and was able to leave the building unnoticed at 4 am consequently unable to get back in for an hour until the kitchen staff arrived. The only option we were given was to move her into memory care which was not appropriate for a temporary condition.

Response from Red Cedar Lodge Senior Living
October 11, 2023Thank you for visiting Red Cedar Lodge. I am sorry that we didn't have the type of room you were looking for at the time. Please give us a call at 517-348-0226 if you'd like to discuss other options that might meet your needs and desires. Thank you!
I love it here! I'm the happiest resident in the building. The value is wonderful and I have a lovely apartment. The chef is marvelous. They go above and beyond to personalize things for the residents. The staff are wonderful to work with. The community is super close to shopping and more. The residents are exceedingly friendly with each other. It truly feels like a family here! The community has transportation to take the residents on outings, shopping experiences, doctor appointments, and field trips. There is entertainment that comes in for the residents to enjoy. There is a salon, activity room, physical therapy, and more for the residents enjoy as well! I would recommend the community to others for themselves or family members. There are even couples in the community and this would be a great place to start your assisted living experience.

Everything is great here. This is an outstanding facility, with high standards and beautiful luxury. When all aggregate cost are considered, this is a very reasonable arrangement. Here at Red Cedar Lodge, we have great food, fun, friends, and custom care as needed. I have no words, other than praise for the staff, the facility, the care and everyone involved at Red Cedar Lodge. Worth your time in coming to take a tour and meet Director, [name removed], and marketing, [name removed]. I am very, very happy.

A Place for Mom has scored Red Cedar Lodge Senior Living 9.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
