Prestige was wonderful. He stayed in the memory unit for less than 6 months. I could not have asked for a better environment for him to spend his last days. It was very sad to lose him, but I think he was just done with the struggle. He stopped eating, was on hospice for 10 days and was gone. From my perspective i would give Prestige a 5 on everything. A 5+ on friendliness of staff and quality of care. [name removed] would disagree with that assessment im sure, of course he didn't want to be there. I was with him every day for most of the day. I was able to observe staff caring for all of the patients and never ever saw an eye roll or heard any comments from staff about some of the challenges that they faced.... Read more

I would rate all of them as a 5. My father really enjoyed his time there. Even up to the end when he passed away, the care they provided was incredible. This facility has exceptional staff. They cared and encouraged his participation in daily activities. I loved that they would communicate with him in Spanish when he didn't remember that he could speak English.

Response from Prestige Assisted Living at Chico
October 4, 2024Hello Maria! I am ever so grateful that we were blessed with the opportunity to welcome your father into our community; and just as important, exceeded your expectations. Our Core Values are Respect, Integrity, Commitment, and Trust; and we are honored you and your family trusted Prestige to care for your family member.
Unfortunately Dad moved into Prestige on [date removed] and passed exactly one month later. I will say that in that one month the level of care/service went downhill quickly. The staff was great but it was severely understaffed so the quality was not what I was expecting. Nothing but good to say about the care givers... management just cut the hours severely.

September 5, 2024Hello Doug. I am sorry your experience with Prestige Assisted Living was not an exceptional one. Please reach out to me directly so we can address your concerns and ensure our Community Relations Director is sharing accurate information when touring our facility to future residents. (530) 899-0814. chicoed@prestigecare.com
Beware. Due to its corporate nature, this facility is under a mandate to treat your loved one like a liability, rather than an individual with unique abilities and challenges. The sales team will tell you things that get directly contradicted by leadership. Management seeks to optimize profit and reduces residents to profit/risk ratio, while keeping you in the dark about their process. They have more training in risk management than in compassion and problem solving, and it shows. I expect this kind of behavior from a shady insurance company, not a home dedicated to warmth and care. If you're looking for somewhere that will treat your loved with dignity and not as a walking dollar sign, I would look elsewhere.

Response from Prestige Assisted Living at Chico
September 4, 2024Hello John. I am sorry to learn your experience with Prestige was not a positive one. As part of our responsibility as a potential service provider, we must assess potential residents for appropriateness of placement and whether we can meet your loved one's needs. Regretfully, we must decline acceptance when your loved one's needs exceed our capabilities to provide exceptional care, or when a condition presented exceeds what our licensing agency allows us to accept into our care. It would truly be a disservice to all parties involved to accept a resident, only to then have to demit due to their needs exceeding what can be provided in Assisted Living. Please reach out to me directly if you have further questions about our decision.
My Aunt needed to have more care , a place where you have evenings with someone there if needed. Prestige is a beautiful place. My Aunt likes the daily menu they offer for all 3 meals. They are very accommodating & you don’t see anything on the menu they will make you whatever you like. Her room is spacious. She has a living room with guest bathroom, bedroom & master bathroom. It’s very clean . Three large windows for light . They allow her pet a small dog, which is very important to her. The ladies employed are friendly, helpful,

It's never easy to put someone in home but [name removed] from a place for mom was very helpful, patient and understanding. The staff at Prestige is great and the place is clean and doesn't have a feeling of despair that most facilities do.

April 17, 2024Hi Doug, thank you for this great review! We're glad our community has been a positive experience for your family. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance!
My loved one was previously a resident at Prestige Assisted Living at Chico. Initially this facility was good, except that the front doors didn't work. Within one month, however, the staff was reduced which directly affected the care of the residents. Also, upon moving in, my loved one didn't have a working telephone for three weeks. The meals were fair/good. I believe that we were sold a 'bill of goods ' in the sales pitch. We were semi pressured as a ' short time availability' when really, there were multiple apartments empty. Most of the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful, but extremely under staffed for the care that was needed. At this time, I would not recommend Prestige Assisted Living at Chico until they are properly staffed.

The facility is clean, the staff is friendly. My dad receives good care there. They provide a variety of food that my dad enjoys. They also provide a variety of activities. As for value for cost, I compared and it is good.

I am easily able to give each of the above categories a '5'. The last 3 categories might be a lower score, but I considered: meals...they are cooking for a large facility so are not going to always satisfy all appetites, but always have sandwiches to offer as an alternative. Activities... My loved one is not interested in group activities. They offer a wide variety of activities that many residents seem to enjoy. Value for cost...He is in a single person room, which is of course more expensive than sharing a room. I knew that this move was going to be difficult for him, and couldn't imagine him having to deal with a roommate too. I would feel comfortable recommending Prestige to anyone searching for a memory care facility. I spend hours a day with [name removed] almost every day. I feel like part of the family. I want to be called if [he] is upset or they are not able to redirect him. They don't call often, but I appreciate when they do. Most of the time he is able to settle down just talking to me. When I was trying to make a decision about placement, I visited every memory care facility that had a vacancy. I was having a hard time deciding between Prestige and another place but am satisfied that I made the right decision for [him]. The other location also offers a great facility but it was mentioned more than once that 'we don't want people in their rooms, we have several activities every day and we work hard to make sure that every resident participates' I know that [he] does not want to sit and make macaroni necklaces or paint a flower pot. At Prestige he is allowed to say no and his decision is respected. When I was looking at facilities, I had so many questions. Now, I can hardly remember my concerns. Something I found important for [him] - the advice I've read and many people I've talked to recommend having the room set up to make it resemble home. After [he] moved, when I arrived to visit he had all personal items, pictures and toiletries plus his clothes packed in the dirty clothes hamper. I finally realized that he didn't want the room to seem like home. He started off thinking that he was on vacation at a time share. So... I encourage people to trust their instincts and don't expect that their loved one will fit into a mold.

I would tell others that this is a very nice place to live. The facility is very nice and well maintained. The staff and administration are very nice to work with. The staff communication with the family is very good. I am always able to speak to someone about anything that I need to.

Our family had an in person tour and that community was a dump, there was no activity going on, and the residents there looked like they just wanted to wither away.
You should look into the community and do more research. The community looks nice and the outside looks great. The staff are helpful. The staff are friendly and helpful for the family and residents.

The community has yoga classes available for residents to participate in. This is just one of the activities available for the residents to choose from. My mom has her own room. This feels like a great place for your loved one. I'm disappointed in the point system to determine the cost of care.

Such an amazing community, we are so thankful that we had our Mom move in. The staff are all so kind and genuine. Many of the caregivers have been at the community for many years, which speaks volumes about the company. My Mom loves her new friends that she has met and the activities that she now participates in. I cannot emphasize enough how happy she is!

Very friendly, staff knew names of residents. Residents looked happy. Many levels of care. Very disappointed in the amount the price has increased because of demand. A lot of amenities are included in the cost which helps. Definitely a possibility.

Crystal and other staff members at Prestige went above and beyond in assisting our family with finding the right place for Mom to live. As it turns out, Mom came to live with me in Colorado so she never actually moved into Prestige. We had several visits to the Prestige Chico facility, and I would give them a six star rating if I could.

The experience with Prestige Assisted Living at Chico has been very good, with the exception of the fact that my mother in law has been sick and in and out of the hospital. The staff there though have really been great. She does sometimes have trouble pulling on the ringer/buzzer to get help. I am not sure if something could be done about that. They check on the residents regularly, but despite that she has fallen a couple of times. So things are not perfect, but overall they have been very good.
