I have lived in this community for 3 1/2 years, and have only positive things to say! My building is clean, quiet, secure, and the management and residents have been extra-ordinarily kind and helpful. I've read the negative reviews of this community, and they have all been placed in the years before I lived here. I can state quite emphatically that none of those bad reviews apply to what I have exepereinced. This community is quiet, clean, well kept, and the maintenance is exemplary. I would highly recommend Portofino to anyone. In fact, I have! The grounds are well kept. I've never seen a cockroach or any other insect in the 3+ years I've been here. The laundry rooms are clean and well-functioning. The pool and jacuzzi are always clean.... Read more

This place should be renamed to Portocrapo the smoking comes through the vents and your apt reeks, construction dirt, noise is nonstop. Rats, mice, you will notice front of each bldg. there are rat boxes, you will hear them in the walls and see them at night. The trash rooms/chutes are filthy w/garbage, and there was no stairway lights for years, pitch dark to go down with the endless fire alarms. Your laundry will be filthy from the gray water and filthy laundry rooms which you pay rolls and rolls of quarters for. It's actually ludicrous, better off to use a bucket in your apt for laundry. Rats float in the swimming pool some mornings, and pool is not heated, freezing cold, but who would use it anyway with the cigarette smoking blowing onto the pool. 'management' is ridiculous, inept, rude, nasty. Roof leaks over 90 yr olds' beds in apts, mgt. brings a bucket. Slumlord gouges disabled seniors on fixed incomes. You would be better off living in a tent than this tiny dump. Parking area is so dark at night you can't even see to put a key in the car door lock, so unsafe for disabled 70, 80 yr olds! Half the time you can't even get your mail, they lock the bldg. Sat/Sun's & whenever they want to go somewhere. If you enjoy huge rent raises for absolutely nothing along with mice, this is a great choice.

I have lived here a year and enjoy it. It is quiet and the management does everything they can to make things nice. I have been happy with the recent improvements

It smells a lot like smoke when you go in. All the rooms open into the indoor hallway, and so it's not getting aired out enough, other than that it's kept pretty clean. The staff is really nice, but the other residents are not really very friendly. So far everything is going okay, and I think they are a pretty good place.

This place is a dump! What has happened is that the complex has been taken over by new ownership and improvements have been made to the grounds and the clubhouse. The underlying problems still remain; no housekeeping to speak of, sloppy maintenance, tiny apartments and employees who don't care one whit about guests except for the squeakiest wheels. On several occasions, maintenance staff have been caught sleeping on couches in the lobby areas. I am a resident and this place feels more like a dorm room rather than an apartment. Requests have been made to fix the cabinetry in my kitchen and bath and both have been ignored. There are no washers or dryers in the apartments and the ones on each floor are in disrepair We have been told by the acting manager that new appliances would be installed at least 10 days ago and we still wait..... a good friend of mine had a stove replaced 3 weeks after requesting same, but it was a cheap unit with no self cleaning function. They expect a disabled senior to clean her own oven?? The pool is nearly always filthy, floors are often covered in grime, and many of the doors do not lock. Very recently there was an assault on one of the tenants because of the doors. We get homeless coming in and sleeping on couches in the lobbies and in the washrooms because of the non existent security, During the month of August 2014, we were advised that the rent would be increased significantly, in my case, over ten percent. THESE APARTMENTS DO NOT WARRANT SUCH AN INCREASE. It is my intent to consult with legal counsel to see if the level of egregious behavior demonstrated by the ownership and employees rise to the level of a breach of the implied covenant of fair dealing and/or bad faith. If so, legal action will commence immediately thereafter. I am not one those grumpy old men who complain just for the sake of it. I am 56 years old, and pay my rent early every month.
