Kudos to the folks at Poland Village Assisted living for hosting such a nice Thanksgiving gathering. The seasonal decorations looked so festive. Staff really went out of their way to provide family members with a chance to enjoy a Thanksgiving feast with their resident loved ones. I loved the pies. Instantly added to the late summer's Margaritaville party on our list of memories with Dad.... Read more

Overall, the family is happy with the care provided. They do need to hire STNA’s for each floor and shift who are able to help with personal care. The maintenance department may need a little more experience, it seems, because the repairs don’t seem to be done correctly. The women at the front desk are fabulous as are the majority of the current staff. It is, however, my experience that if there are incentives and rewards for employees, the care and production will be, by far, much better than average. The new owner seems to want to make improvements and this would be one big way to do that in addition to the building updates. Happy employees make happy residents and successful results. I’m excited to see the changes coming from the new administration because I’ve heard good things about them. I would recommend this facility to others because they do provide good care and I believe it will be even better in the near future. I believe there will be positive changes.

I liked Wickshire Poland on the tour. I went though all this paperwork to get my loved one moved in. I told them everything that was wrong with her. They evaluated her themselves, and they said they could take her. Then, when it came time to move her in, they said they couldn't take her because she had a wound on her leg that they had known about right from the start.
Our family had an in person tour and the tour was fine but it being two-stories we just did not think that was going to work out
I would recommend you look at the community. This is a nice place and it would be the right fit for the right person. There are choices for meals. The meal staff bend over backwards to assist the residents. The administration does a great job with the family.

The staff have gone above and beyond in helping my dad. They sit with him and listen to his stories and seem to really care about him.

Wickshire Poland is a very nice facility-for people who are self-sufficient and don't require special care. My father became bedridden after a fall at home and required a high level of care. Wickshire jumped through hoops to get us there but they don't seem to be a facility that is truly prepared for residents requiring a high level of care. Also-response times were slow.

This is a very nice place and when I was looking around this was the best place. It was 30 minutes away from me but it was still the best choice for me. They were able to provide care that I could not for my love one.

I really liked this facility. It has a fun, positive atmosphere and we went back for a second tour with mom. Unfortunately they do not take medicaid and the price I was originally quoted ended up being something like half of what what we would owe once they factored in mom's level of care (which, incidentally, was only level 1). Because of this, mom would have only been able to stay for a year or so before her money ran out and we'd have to move her...so we have opted to keep looking for better options.

Due to the covid restrictions our family could not really get passed the front doors to get to see the inside of the community. When it came to the meals sometimes they were okay, but they always seemed to be very accommodating to our loved ones dietary needs.

Our experience with the nursing home started out very good and then it was terrible. Our loved one went walking in all on her own, they had to test her for covid before entering the community and she tested negative. However we week later she tested positive with a bunch of residents and other staff members. The care she received from the aids and nurses we assumed was okay. We could see our loved one outside while following the rules and regulations, but their policies left a terrible taste in our mouth.

A Place for Mom has scored Poland Village Assisted Living 8.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
