Lack of patient care

One for all categories. Park Vista has served cold food, raw food and mom has pictures of a mouse along with plastic melted on her pancakes. They're supposed to get their morning meds at 9am and are lucky if they get them by noon. They're charging her around $[removed]a month for rent!

Only if desperate

Bad Experience. The elevators often don't work. They don't do preventative maintenance because they're so busy trying to fix things as they break down. The rent is astronomical compared to other places in the area. I moved out June 30, have a beautiful new apartment for $800/month LESS. [name removed] thinks it's her job to be people's Mommy & that it's her responsibility to make everyone happy. I tried to tell her that it's up to each of to make ourselves happy! I can no longer recommend the place. I was surprised how many problems Park Vista has, elevators too old, can't get parts, windows that don't open/close "water intrusion" from collapsed roof (recent) tolerating people smoking in a building that claims to be a smoke free facility. The grounds are sadly neglected and loaded with trash. No one cared my dog picked up someone's old bloody gauze bandage. Then I found some crack cocaine outside the elevator @ lobby level, that's when I knew I had to go.

Not recommend

Manager takes a lot of time off. Hard to talk to her to get things done. Hallways and elevators not cleaned often enough. Trash is supposed to be emptied daily, instead about every 3- 4 days. Had to ask someone to get it emptied. The few staff I've met have been very nice. Meals are terrible. I joined the meal delivery service thinking it would be convenient, healthy, with regular meal times. Not convenient, I still have to fix my own meals because the I can't or won't eat the meals. Not healthy or balanced. Served under cooked, unseasoned, and very dry macaroni and cheese with a side of stewed tomatoes. Or a dry roast beef sandwich with no sides. Vegetable's are mush. I had left several messages for the dietician to let her know my food restrictions, never returned my calls. I haven't joined the activities, most of what I've seen, require a fee. The movies they show are 40's movies. Nothing current. I don't feel value. I don't like it here. When I moved in, I was missing a bathroom door and closet door. They were fixed right away and management seemed surprised, that the apartment was not set up. This area is very noisy, sirens, car alarms, road traffic, which makes it hard to sleep well. I have a balcony that I was looking forward to using, but I don't feel it's safe. Manager says a safety study was performed a few months ago after some rain, but the balcony roof had so much water damage, the ceiling is bowed, and the plaster has fallen off. Maintenance was going to check the balcony roof of the apartment below me for damage, but has never come back to me with information. So, I don't use my balcony. A rain storm hit last week, flooded my dining room. Water seeped in through the baseboard heaters. Maintenance came to look, has not come back to repair. The rent is average for the area, but with the food and activity fees, it can be higher.

Building in disrepair

If I could give them a 0 I would for all categories. We've seen trash piled up for days, paint and wallpaper peeling from walls and ceiling. Patients not receiving meds on time or at all. If we could afford to move her someplace else we would. No continuity of care and a very high turnover rate.

More caring

I would like to have the nurses and aides take better care of the patients, by answering call buttons in a more timely manner, Stop leaving them in their wheelchairs so long this can causes their skin to break down and causes circulation problems. I have a loved one at Park Vista. I watch the nurses and aides when I visit. Park Vista is clean and I hope they retain the aides. it's frustrating for the patient if they have to wait hours to be taken out of wheelchair, or to press the call button and no one shows up. Patient care needs to improve.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Our facility works hard to provide quality, exceptional service to all our residents, and we're eager to show you this level of care and dedication in the future. Home Sweet Ohio

It is with great respect and pride that I write this letter of strong recommendation and support for Park Vista in Ohio. I toured many facilities. PV was the only place I trusted for mom as they were organized and kind and treated us as a person and not as a number. The PV Director patiently walked me through the process of what to do (app, fin. records,) and who to contact (everyone from the electric to cable company) in a step by step fashion. Once arrived, the PV Staff bent over backwards to help mom feel at home, remove boxes, check on us daily and help in any they can. Having lived there a month, my mom is happier than I have seen her in a long time with all the social activities/store bus trips etc. I am grateful/blessed that the PV team treats my mom with respect and care. I would give PV the highest rec for anyone who wants exceptional care for their loved one. It is truly a home away from home and everyone on staff treats my mom like their mom. Blessings to PV!

Great Place for Mom

After my father died 16 years ago, we looked at various Senior Living option in the area. We decided to choose Park Vista. We choose Park Vista because of Location, Safety, Activities and its Overall Communal Feel. I am convinced that my mothers quality of life has improved living at Park Vista. She is a VERY social animal and always tells me she has 2 families, her nuclear family and her Park Vista family. I believe her Park Vista experience prolonged her life! I would have given PV a 5 star review but for the Parking Issues that they’ve had for the past year.

My experience here has been very good. All the staff have been at one time of service, polite, helpful. Their tops in my books. Some residents need to smooth up-they think they know it all and are too bossy and arrogant and [unreadable] to others, they should start reading the Bible.

You truly have to be independent to be in the independent living. The community led us to believe they would be doing housekeeping and medication checks, and this didn't happen when my loved one was here. Park Vista also said they would check on residents if they didn't see open doors by 1 pm and this didn't happen either. There was hardly any taste to the food and small portions.

I had my brother and sister-in-law admitted during the pandemic, because their care was too much for me at home. I was very pleased how caring and compassionate all the staff was ,not only my family, but to myself. They went beyond to make sure i could bring their donuts, daily, staff assisted with the cell phone, so i could speak with them everyday, and give them the care they needed. Thank you to all the staff in Assisted Living!

Do not send loved ones here. zero communication.

Anybody but the activities department is extremely unresponsive for 1-5 days. The director of the facility is absolutely clueless. He fired people making money and hired lower wage workers. Lower pay means lower quality of care in some instances. My grandmother had an untreated c diff infection, minimal physical therapy, missed outpatient doctor's appointments, and was largely left alone in a fragile and weak state. I understand it's a pandemic and staff may be short. But to not speak with a nurse for 3 minutes on a shift or to speak with a therapy director for week(s), to missing crucial appointments. Absolutely inexcusable treatment. Ombudsman were contacted, the Ohio Department of Health was contacted. Do not send loved ones to this facility.

Used to be better

I am disappointed in the new owners of this property. I know that this is a trying time, during the CoVid pandemic but I believe they could be doing better. Before moving my Mom into Park Vista, we had heard many good things from residents who all seemed to love the place. Now the current residents are complaining about how good it used to be. A cleaning person is supposed to do Mom's apartment every other Monday. After not showing up for 5 weeks, they now come but miss days with no warning and then show up unannounced on a different day and rush through the job as quickly as possible. This week she was there 15 minutes. How good a job can you do in 15 minutes? The dining room is closed because of the virus so they are delivering meals to the apartment. That has been very sporadic with meals arriving somewhere within a 2 hour window. Food has been left in the hallway with barely a knock on the door. Containers have been spilled and the residents say the food is not as good as it used to be. We are trying to work with management to get these issues resolved. They are always agreeable but we have not seen much improvement.

I do not recommend this nursing care facility!

Please keep looking if you thinking of putting your loved one into this nursing care facility! Very understaffed which means that your loved one will be ignored. My 94 yr.old mother that was totally helpless was neglected on a daily basis. I had to be there everyday just to make sure she had water in reach, not to mention that her call button was usually on the floor where she could not possibly reach! The atmosphere was oppressive and sad. I moved her out of Park Vista after 2 mos. and she is very well cared for & happy at another facility, and I might add at the same cost.

Dangerously understaffed, physical therapy is a joke

The nurses aids are terrific human beings, but they are severely overworked. The nursing staff is sparse such that it can take 5 hours after requesting an ibuprofen tablet (for pain) to receive it. The physical therapy sessions are supposed to be 1-2 hours per day. What happens is that they take you down to PT, work with you for 15 min and then you sit there for the rest of the hour. The PT services are at best minimal and at worst a Medicare scam. I was told that there would be physicians available electronically, which did not turn out to be true. My mother's UTI went untreated for more than a week. This is not a place to be if you don't have an advocate fighting for access to minimal care.

The activates are great here. I think that the professional staff is wonderful and very helpful. The aides are not so well and we are working on that. The nutritionist is great and mom enjoys the food. I feel that they can use more staff to be able to handle all the residents on any shift.
