#1 - not great. My loved one hates it. Most tenants tolerate it because it's all they can afford. # 2 NOT clean. Smells of urine and rotten trash in certain parts of the hallway. Trash area always stinks. My loved one has had an ongoing problem with roaches. Had an infestation of bed bugs. House keepers have sub standard cleaning supplies and products. #3. Most tenants are friendly. The new Chef is NOT FRIENDLY and rude to tenants. (I speak for many of them). The new manager is [name removed]. My experience with him has been very pleasant. He's motivated to make changes, but he's working against stronger forces. #4 quality of care, there's only house keeping and again they are limited. Suboptimal cleaning materials and supplies and cleaning products. There's only 1 maintenance person for the WHOLE 100 bed facility. #5- FOOD IS HORRIBLE! Not heart healthy, not conscious towards diabetes. Many things are frozen/thawed. Cold sandwiches. #6 NO ACTIVITIES Bingo, puzzles, occasional chair aerobics. No field trips. No nursing staff or active coordinators #7 They just raised the rent. The food and house keeping costs more than my moms rent. Broken pipes, stained carpet, never ANY hot water. Only 1 hot water heater for the entire place. Also, there had a BIG population of pot smokers. NO CAMERAS, NO SECURITY. MANY BREAK INs.
My loved one enjoyed living at Pinewood Glen Retirement. When the Chef changed, he didn't care for the food as much. No one there seemed to have kept good track of residents not showing up for meals and do a courtesy check on anyone who didn't show up. Upon having to take care of his apartment on a day the housekeeper didn't show up due to holiday, his rooms and bathroom didn't look like it got cleaned very well when it does happen. I know cleaning was once a week, but things were dusty. I personally wouldn't want to live there and would have loved to be able to put him somewhere nicer. However, finances limit people's ability to choose what is best for their loved ones.

This has been a perfect fit for our loved one and based on the experience we have had so far we would recommend them to other families. The staff members are incredibly friendly and the community is always very clean. The meals and dining service is great and overall the value for the cost is excellent.

My loved ones' neighbors, have been very helpful. They offer a lot of activities but my loved one does not participate. The staff will bring my loved ones food, if they don't make it down to eat. It would be nice if they could make the food less spicy, and offer more food options for residents who are diabetic. Sometimes the food is too spicy for my loved one.

Overall it is a nice facility and the people are all friendly. [name removed] has been wonderful and always keeps me posted and updated on my mom. The carpets that are in the apartments and hallways are stained, but they are slowly trying to change all of the flooring to laminate. I think they could use more fresh foods and serve things more than sandwiches for dinner. I also think they could have more alternatives on the menu. The meals are on a schedule, breakfast is too early for her so she skips that a lot. It would be great if they have 2 breakfast times, 2 lunch times, and 2 dinner times that way those who can not make it have other options. A lot of the residents here smoke and there is not a good area for them to do that that is covered from the weather, so that is another thing they could consider as well.

The food is terrible at this community. They are delivering the food to us in our rooms. It is the same meals every week and it is all fried. The room is alright and comfortable. The residents and staff are very friendly.

The staff play certain rules for certain residents. The cleaning wasn't isn't good. Some of the fire alarms in individual rooms are not hooked up. The food is not good quality, They are supposed to get there meals at designated times and they do not during COVID.

BEWARE!!! Our father was in this facility for just under one year. Everything was 'great' (it's a bit old and run down) but this past September, we found out he had to vacate his place due to bedbugs. He never said anything to us but when my sister took him home and helped him to shower, his back was COVERED with bites. He never goes anywhere to have picked these things up in order to bring them in. He lived with my sister for a full month before moving into the facility and she had and still has NO bedbugs. The only places he's been since the move is to her house and to the doctor's office for various appointments. After the place was exterminated and everything deloused TWICE (over the course of 3 weeks), he was able to move back in at the beginning of October. Mid November, the woman who cleans his place each week informed us that there were bedbugs again. He went into the hospital end of November and per his doctor, is not allowed to go back as they feel he needs more supervision. Now Pinewood Glenn is insisting we pay for the month of December (even tho you don't need to give 30 days notice when it is for medical reasons) even though they still have to spray a second time and can't even rent it out until that is done. They are saying he is the one who brought the bedbugs into the facility. It's now under new management (prior manager was let go due to sleeping with maintenance staff) and they obviously aren't aware of other residents having the same problem (bedbugs). Place appears friendly, nice and VERY AFFORDABLE but, in the end, you get what you pay for :(

My father moved here recently and he likes it so far. He has all of his modern comforts and it adjusting well. The activities director is great and really encourages him to get involved. He said the food has it's ups and downs. he did mention the food is much better this week. It's nice of them two because he takes his insulin shots every morning and misses breakfast and they always make sure to have a plate ready for him in his room so he can eat. We chose pinewood because they had availability when we were looking in a time of need and they were more affordable than other options in the area.

I believe my friend is happy and she likes the environment here. The people are fine and she is settling in well. The food is good but she says the portions seem smaller and at times other people have larger portions. It is not top of the line but is seems to be clean enough and they recently sprayed the apartments for pest. Her apartmetn has enough room. The maintenance guy has been helpful to her

This is a fine community, it just wasn't the right fit for my mother. Everybody was wonderful and really tried their best to help. I have made a few suggestions to the director. This is not a community for people with dementia. It would be a nice community for someone who needs light assistance. The facility is good, it just wasn't the place for my mother.
