My dad has been at The Pines for about a month now. My mom and myself struggled with having to place dad and the staff knew how hard it was for us. All of them, especially [name removed] has been exceptional. They have been in contact with us multiple times letting us know how dad is doing as well as making sure we are ok. We are very blessed to have found a place for him that really cares about his well being and ours.

My memaw lived there for the last few years of her life. It was allways nice to visit for supper. For a little bit they had some construction going on but it ended up looking real pretty. Memaw was always smelling good and her room was clean. She seemed happy there.

After reading some of the other reviews I felt led to write one. This place is nothing like what others described. Maybe it is because they have new ownership and management. After going back and forth with the idea of putting my mom in a home we finally decided it was time. We looked at a couple of other places in the Athens area, but when we found The Pines we knew we were making the right decision. Trusting the staff there with Mom gives me and my family great peace of mind. They If you're looking for a place to put a loved one with dementia, I highly recommend giving them a chance!

This place has the service where it counts. When we drove up to the facility, my heart sank. It was weedy and industrial-looking and there was a dried-up fountain outside falling off its foundation. Still, other places had refused my mother-in-law and a few of the residents had very nice things to say about the place. It was also more affordable. We gave it a try. My MIL lived there for several weeks before being able to return home and our family had a very good experience. The building isn't fancy and there aren't activities, but the staff are both kind and attentive; we couldn't have asked for more from them. I could only give 2.5 stars for cleanliness because it is dusty and run down looking, yet the nurses and food service staff kept to good, safe cleanliness practices. My MIL appreciated the fenced-in outdoor area with shade and a gazebo. I brought my kindergartener to visit my MIL there and felt he had a good (non-scary) experience, which was important to our family. If things get bad for us again, I feel sure we'll bring my MIL back even through the drive is almost an hour each way for us.

We toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. We just weren't very impressed by what we saw here. It is an older building and it seems in need of some renovations and new coat of paint. It just feels very dated and gloomy inside. That being said, it is very inexpensive compared to other senior living places, and we've heard from friends who have loved ones here that the care staff are friendly and very kind.

This facility was old and not well maintained. Smelly and dim lighting.
