My sister were put in a dark corner room. She was not allowed to use her walker, as Peter's Creek had not assessed her ability with it. She was given a button on a cord to press for help. Even though we'd told them several times that because her hands are weak that she couldn't press the button (even one of their employees had difficulty with it), they provided no other means for her to ask for help. She could not get into the bathroom because the wheelchair couldn't get through the door. The closest assist bar was past the vanity and the toilet at the shower . A portable toilet with rails was placed over the toilet, as it had no assist bars. It would wobble with the pressure of the weight used for assistance efforts. A physical therapist from and outside company was quite distressed over the bathroom situation alone. My sister couldn't get out of the room as she couldn't reach the self-closing door from the wheelchair in the narrow hall. They blamed her for her lack of care.

Response from Peters Creek Retirement and Assisted Living
November 12, 2024Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns about your sister's experience at Peters Creek. We are deeply sorry to hear about the challenges she encountered and appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve our services. We strive to provide a safe and supportive environment for all our residents, and it's concerning that your sister's specific needs with mobility and call buttons weren't met. We will be thoroughly reviewing these issues with our care team to ensure that appropriate assessments are conducted promptly and that suitable accommodations, such as assistive devices, are consistently available. Your insights into the bathroom layout and access challenges are very valuable. We will take immediate steps to reassess these areas and explore ways to improve accessibility in all resident rooms, as well as to make sure that our team is better equipped to respond to similar needs in the future. If you're open to it, please feel free to reach out to us directly so we can further address these concerns and make improvements that would benefit current and future residents. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.
The staff is wonderful. I definitely recommend Peters Creek.

Response from Peters Creek Retirement and Assisted Living
November 12, 2024Thank you so much for your kind words and recommendation! We’re delighted to hear that our staff has made a positive impact on your experience at Peters Creek. Our team takes great pride in providing compassionate care, especially in our Memory Care community. If there’s ever anything more we can do for your loved one, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you again for sharing your feedback!
My dad was previously a resident at Peters Creek Retirement and Assisted Living. The activities staff and front desk are great (a couple real gems actually, but they have no authority). They let go a great RN who had too much ethics and a spine for one of the higher ups. They replaced her with someone whose business card had NO credentials noted. I couldn't find her under either RN or LPN in the State registry and she is 'Director of Nursing'. She is very meek. Also: after my dad had been gone for a month on holiday (for which they wouldn't coordinate getting his meds for when he was gone) I discovered they had not been giving my dad his heart medicine for over a month. They said because the pharmacy they work with didn't have an order for it.

In the beginning the then director made the whole process easy she was amazing with the overall transition process as well as had an open door policy where I could contact her with anything and she would frequently check on things see how things were. The direct care team in the unit my Grandpa was in I only got to know the crew in the morning, [names removed] were amazing with every person in that unit, the night team I didn’t get to know too well. My Grandpa was at Peter’s Creek a month before he fell again, this is where things started to go down hill, it was never clear to me how he fell but what he told me was he needed to use the restroom and was waiting a long time for help, no one came so he attempted to get up himself which resulted in him falling. I tried several times to figure out exactly what happened but I was ignored. After that he wasn’t allowed to come back on which I again was not given a straight answer why and kept getting the round about generic answer. In the time he was not physically there and was at the hospital they were charging him the full amount which was stated in his contract if he was not there for any doctor reason he would not be charged. I had to keep following up with the temp director to be refunded on which at that point they stopped taking my calls, it wasn’t until months later a check randomly showed up in the mail that I was given the amount back that was owed to us. After he was given the okay to be discharged from the hospital in that time frame I had to move his things out and find new senior living. Overall I was left really frustrated with how things were handled towards myself and my Grandpa and I know if he didn’t have anyone to advocate for him in this situation the outcome would have been extremely different.

My father is satisfied living there, the staff really care and he is safe there. He's in memory care. I picked this community, because it was a good trade off between care and cost.

I was able to have an in person tour with Peters Creek and I found the tour experience overall to be informative and pleasant and nice. However, this community could not accommodate my future needs which was why I did not select them.
It's not fancy, but it's a good place as far as I can tell. There has been shifting of staff at the top which is a warning flag for me. Housekeepers that do my loved one's room are pure gold! The overall experience is good except for the hideous medication policies, which I think are guided by the state.

I love the community. They are so kind and gentle with the residents. The staff try to keep the residents busy with activities and with new activities on a regular basis. The staff are happy. I couldn't be happier that my loved one is here. My loved one loves the meals that are provided. The staff will assist the residents that need assistance with feeding, or cutting the food. They are kind and gentle during this process. The communication with the staff is great, and they keep us updated anytime there are concerns about my loved one. The staff are very very comforting, caring, and gentle with the family.

This was our second choice. They did bad mouth other facilities which was a huge turn off for us.
This communities location was far out and there was nothing like shopping or anything close. This community was more good for scenic views and it was more expensive.
The staff are very friendly. [name removed] especially is very helpful. All staff is very caring and also user friendly as far as you want or need done. The rooms are a very nice size, if you want you are able to get one with a full kitchen. It is perfect size for one person. It is more of a personal community type interaction which is something we liked. I would absolutely recommend them to others.

So far so good. My friend has been quite pleased. The support has been excellent on all levels, not only in the original interaction with the marketing side that went really well, but also with the accounting side. Interaction with them has been great. They've been really good about calling back in a timely manner. And the front desk staff is also very pleasant and caring. My friend says the food is average, but she loves the activities.

Good community, not memory care only.
The location was very nice, and it was very clean. But the gal that was trying to show us around was very distracted and had a whole bunch of other stuff happening. It was a smaller facility than some of the others we looked at, which was nice. But we chose a place that some of our other family members had lived years back.
I like the staff and residents because they are friendly and helpful. The care team is diversified of men and women. My wife likes that a man can assist with my care needs. LOL! The food is tasty. The activities are enjoyable. The activities are interesting because they have topics I like, such as men's club and trivia.

This is a nice place to be. The staff feels like my family. If I need something they will talk to me and offer help. The food is really good. The kitchen offers special diet for me as I can only eat fish or chicken. I appreciate that.

The aids are on time, considerate and helpful. My room has a beautiful view of the trees. I like the times the meals are served and the special preparation. Activities are plentiful for each person's liking but I especially enjoy good old-fashioned classic Bingo. The residents are really nice at Peters Creek.
