This community is for people who are independent and no not need the extra care and attention. They have a really nice garden for the residents, just wasn't the right fit for my loved one.

Response from Oxford Springs Edmond
December 14, 2022Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback.
They were very short-staffed and did not deliver at all on any care that was promised.

We chose Brookdale Edmond because it was the closest and it seemed to be the most clean facility that we saw. When we walked in it did not smell like a nursing home at all. As her care increases so does the cost, so in the future we will most likely have to look at something else. We are happy with the experience so far and would recommend them to others.

The director and sales manager are professional friendly and transparent. Brookdale feels cozy and you can tell the staff love their jobs. The RN on staff is always available and helpful. Very personable and caring. Everyone on the staff is always patient and willing to help out with questions and concerns. They understand that making this transition is difficult emotionally and physically and they are always sympathetic and understanding.

Everyone at Brookdale Edmond Santa Fe tried to assist with my loved one. Some of our family's issue was understanding that ALL or MOST assisted living facilities utilize limited staff and with limited expertise. It is my understanding that this is because it is assumed that the residents can help themselves...it is just "assisted" living not long-term care. As such, they are not staffed well to handle any issue of significance that develops quickly...and are not really trained to know the signs of oncoming illnesses or changes, etc. These type facilities also tend not to check the residents very often during the day or night. And, the facility physician should probably not be used--he/she tends to make decisions from computer notes and does not necessarily come on-site. Brookdale Edmond Santa Fe was above average, but I would not, however, recommend using the Brookdale Home Health service. I would recommend using a standalone, outside vendor. Brookdale's Home Health Care level of expertise is suspect at best. Further, they do NOT understand or handle wound care with any expertise. So, if your loved one is diabetic, this will be a major issue.

My dad was in this community for about a month and I had to move him out. I just heard today that [Removed] has left Brookdale and I believe [Removed] has as well. The food was mediocre. They had a courtyard and it was locked down that helped with the memory care. What I hated about Brookdale were additional charges for everything including $47. For smokers. The facility was clean, the staff friendly enough, I did not like seeing my bill different from month to month.

I toured here when looking for a place for my mom but I wasn’t impressed. I was able to take a look at the rooms and overall, the facility just looks outdated. It doesn’t look like it was updated at all. It looked more like a motel than a senior community. The painting and the carpet looked like they needed to be updated. The atmosphere wasn’t welcoming, it looked cold and not at all warm or like a home. The facility is small but the hallways were wide enough for people to get through. Everything looked clean, though.

Our visit to Brookdale was fine. It was not too good of a fit for my loved one, in terms of the atmosphere. The atmosphere seemed quite dreary and it was not an especially comfortable place to be. It was fine, but not my favorite.

My tour of this community was a nice one. The community looked great, everything was nice and clean. This community is one level and the was convenient for my friend. The staff was very kind and welcoming. It was a bit expensive for our budget. Overall this is a nice community with kind people.

The Brookdale care and administration are friendly, professional and helpful in caring for my family member. The environment is attractive and home-like for the residents and visitors. Her room is maintained in a safe and clean manner conducive for assisted living. The reason for most of my frustration is a perceived lack of communication among staff members. Upon admission the family provides information regarding medical, social, personal and dietary concerns and basic care giving needs. I feel that the level of care presented upon admission is not what the resident may actually receive. Unless the family member is able to question the staff, certain aspects of care may not be given. As in many organizations, there may be a communication disconnect between management and the actual caregivers. Perhaps offer periodic team meetings with administration, nursing, care giving staff and family?

My loved one has only been here a short time, but so far our experience has been a good one! The people here seem friendly and caring, and the facility itself is well kept and clean. We've got no complaints!

A Place for Mom has scored Oxford Springs Edmond 7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
