Response from Oakmont of East Sacramento
May 14, 2024Hi Anonymous, thank you for taking the time to leave a review for us at Oakmont of East Sacramento and bringing these points to our attention.
We chose Oakmont initially because its location. However, there was a huge gap between assisted living and memory care. We needed something in between. Also, there was not enough staff for the amount of residents. It was hard to find someone. Lastly the layout of the place makes one feel that you're alone. Ie. Long empty hallways. [name removed] moved out spring of last year so the rating is for the time she was there.

Response from Oakmont of East Sacramento
June 20, 2024Dear Anonymous, I regret to read that you are unsatisfied with parts of your experience. We appreciate your feedback as it gives us the opportunity to make improvements. Thank you.
Based on the experience we have had so far, there has still never been a fire drill. When the residents push their call pendants the time for response is way too long. Too much of the working staff team is too young and inexperienced.

Response from Oakmont of East Sacramento
November 1, 2023Hello, we appreciate your honest feedback, as we are always looking for ways to improve. We will look into the ways we can make improvements to the items you mentioned. Thank you for taking the time to let us know.
Our family had an in person tour with Oakmont of East Sacramento about 4ish times, they had lunch etc. It was a lovely facility with great staff and services and the food there was fantastic. We loved Oakmont and wanted our parents there. We felt it was by far in the nicest area.
We're generally pleased with Oakmont of East Sacramento. They could have done better with the onboarding process and what to expect etc. Their memory care director had started one month before our loved one moved in so there was definitely a hiccup there

My friend has had an average experience with the community. The staff they do have, have been kind, caring, and knowledgeable. The community needs more staff to care for the residents they do have. I would recommend to others, to make sure you ask about the staff to resident ratio to ensure your loved one will receive the care you want for your loved one. The residents are friendly. There are meals provided by the community. Overall, it is a community you should review to see if it meets all of your expectations for care for your loved one.

We picked Oakmont of East Sacramento because of the location, it is close and we love the area. It is newer and really nice, but because it is newer they are short staffed and just not quite a well oiled machine. We are hoping with time that improves.

Oakmont was very good. They did what needed to be done for their residents. They were good at interacting in a very positive way with the memory care patients. No matter how difficult the situation was, they seemed to be up for it.

We loved the community. There was a waiting list, and we needed something faster.
This community is clean modern, and nice. The staff doesn't have a lot of follow through, and there is no response to calls or emails from management. There is no ability to get to the right person. The medical technical room are very responsive. Some of the hiccups in the beginning could have been avoided if there was a care meeting in person at the beginning of my loved one's stay. The food is unappetizing for the residents and really bland. Overall the community is short on staffing, and the community knows it. Medication management, and bathing are a few of the care items the community is able to assist my loved one with. They do a good job. Changing of linens, the room, basic cable, housekeeping, all utilities, and three meals a day are included in the monthly rate. The activities director is amazing! The residents have lots of activities to choose from to participate in, if they would choose too.

I went to this community to see if this would help with my loved one and her care. When we first got there it was a good property and the assessment was done on a point system. My loved one was assessed on a level that stated that she would need two people for her care needs. I was asked to bring in all of my loved ones items that she needed for her room and to stock up everything that she would need. During intake we went through everything and the expectations for them as well as me. Once my loved one moved in whenever she would need something her roommate would have to go let them know that she needed something and it just did not sit right me. My loved ones doctor came in and found her on the floor with everyone around her and they had to go to the hospital. My loved one was in a chair and fell out and we were told that they could not use seat belts on the patients. The people were not engaging and I feel like they were overworked. This could be a really good community but this was just not a good experience. I removed my mother and brought her home and things are changing. If something looks good on the outside be sure to make sure that it is just as good on the inside.
We had a pretty good tour at Oakmont, although we ended up going with a different community. The emphasis at Oakmont was a lot on the frills. And for us, that wasn’t what we were really interested in. It was a beautiful facility, very clean, with lots of amenities. It would have been good for the right people, but just wasn't the right fit for my loved one. At another place, we saw people smiling, chatting, and really engaging with us, and that really helped us make our decision.
Oakmont is a nice facility and everyone was very friendly. You do not get a nursing home feeling from them at all. It was pricier and we felt that our loved one would not fit in with the crowd.
We toured with Oakmont of East Sacramento, and it is a beautiful facility. The only reason we did not choose this facility was because there was a waiting list at the time we were needing to place my loved one.
Make sure to ask questions. Be sure to ask important questions like: How many staff per resident? How many staff are on staff at night? If a resident needs hospice, how does that work? How do their fees work and what are they for the different services? I wish more of the management and administration team would have shown more care towards the family and loved one during the transition of my loved one. There are limited staff members on the floor at night and staff members during the day. There was a high turnover of staff due to management issues. [Name] was wonderful to work with. She made sure my loved one and I were taken care of during this difficult time. The food is tough and has no taste. They give plenty of servings of food to the residents though. I wouldn't recommend this community to others.

They just opened, and having some growing pains. The residents have had to be in lock down due to quarantine. The food that has been delivered to the residents has been cold. Some of their staff has quit. Staff and residents have had their vaccines.
BE VERY AWARE OF SIGNING A CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY! We were planning to move my dad into this campus last year but due to COVID it couldn't open and we had to find another place. I would have positive things to say about Oakmont if it weren't for the fact that they owe me my refundable deposit of several thousand dollars and refuse to return it to me. I have reached out repeatedly with absolutely 0 response. I am obviously upset that my money has gone missing, but in addition, if this is how this company manages money I would NEVER trust being in a long-term financial relationship with them. Please take this into consideration, if you have enough money to afford this place maybe you are not worried about unfair financial practices, but really who knows what else might be mismanaged. I'm not sure if it is just simply oversight or if I'm being downright scammed, but either way it's inexcusable that my multiple calls and e-mails have been completely ignored.
