A New Normal

My mother has only been a resident at North Pointe of Asheboro for a few weeks, but it has been a blessing! She needed a facility where her medications would be provided as scheduled and where meals would be prepared. Mild cognitive impairment requires reminders and support. They also check on her throughout the day. The staff has always been engaged with her for physical as well as emotional needs and she has the sweetest neighbors who have taken her under their wing. Her laundry is done on a weekly schedule or as needed and she receives help with bathing. She has her hair fixed weekly as she has been accustom to for many years. Activities are available for fun, exercise, entertainment, and religious interest. Transportation to doctors is provided and outings are planned for those who wish to partipate. The decor is beautiful and is updated for seasons and holidays. I feel free to talk to any staff member when I have questions or problems and I feel comfortable about moms care. Please don't send your loved ones there

This place is a joke. They don't care about the people. As far as activity goes they're lucky to go to the Dollar tree. Someone I love was there and come to find out she hadn't had a bath for 3 weeks and when the director was approached she flat out lied about it apparently state board has been called multiple times on this facility to no avail. If you truly love your loved ones don't send them there they will do nothing but go downhill.

I would not recommend

The 1st shift or rotation of staff working in the day really needs to go back and get more training. The 2nd rotation of staff is more friendly, and could handle elderly care better, but during our loved one stays we did not feel they were well cared for, there were times they sat in wet clothes without being checked on and it was just not what we were expecting.

My mom has been at North Pointe approximately 18 months. She has gone downhill ever since she's been there. The administrator [name removed] acts like she's better than anyone there or that comes to visit family members there. She acts like she hates family members who try to show concern for family members. I will not be recommending North Pointe to anyone from what I've seen there. She shows no empathy for the residents or family . She's in the wrong profession. She's like a prison warden with family and residents alike. Family and friends are people who residents look forward to seeing and they need to be respected by all who work there especially the administrator!

Northe Point of Asheboro, Randleman Location

North Pointe of Asheboro, NC, located in Randleman is a nice clean facility. However, the service is not as it should be. They are often short handed with staff, putting the residents behind in medications and attention they need. I have often called the main office and no one answers. Several of the workers are rude to residents. The cafeteria also has rude workers, telling residents if they don't eat what is on their plate then they do not get any more food unless it is a bowl of soup, even if the resident tells them they are still hungry. Medications are often given to residents when they are walking down the hall with their walkers making it awkward for the residents. I do not recommend this facility.

Please Help...

I gave a good review on North Pointe a few months ago when it started to look like things was going well, but began to notice when the new director came on board, North Pointe started to go downhill fast. I had a terrible issue with my dad not getting the medicine render to him after the doctor had put in the order on a Wednesday after looking at his x-ray and making a diagnose. After continuing to check with North Pointe to see why my dad was not being treated for his illness. I contacted the doctor personally and was told again an order was issued. I had to take a day off work on Friday and go to North Pointe to see what was going on, and this is when I found out that Corporate Management was there and fired the director and several employees. No one there at this time could inform me who dropped the ball getting my dad his medication. I was told by the doctor that someone at North Pointe did not follow through and they was personally going to call them self to find out why. I was very upset at this point and demanded that someone there get to the bottom of what happen and get my dad his medicine that was order on Wednesday. My dad has gout in his right hand and arm and it is swollen hugely and he can not use it. He is right handed and walks with a cane using his right hand. I am afraid he was going to fall. The lady from corporate was able to get my dads medicine after after a few hours and started him on it right away after waiting almost three days after being ordered. I then notice a resident there in the cafeteria telling me she did not get breakfast and was hungry. At this time it was way pass breakfast hour. This lady's mind is very sharp and I wonder then if other resident may not have had the chance to eat. When my dad went to North Pointe a couple years ago, it was called an Assisted Care home, but myself and several other families that have love ones there are very concern because most of the residents there now seem to need skilled nursing assistant. They are walking around with wet clothes on and stool in their clothing. My husband had to go and get someone a week ago to get poop off the floor when you enter the front door of North Pointe after he stepped in it. There was a trail down the hall. My concern now is that I do not think that North Pointe has or have the skills to look after the residents in this shape. A lot of them do not have family that visit much and may not know this about their condition. This is very unfair for these residents to be kept there if they require more care. I am not only concern about my dad being there at this point but for the other residents also. I don't know the details about why the director and several staff members were fired, but do know that any interruption from the management on down should not be at the expense of the residents care, in which it did effect my dad and I know others there too. He is a Marine and still has his pride and dignity, he does however have some dementia, but still knows what is going on in the environment he resides in. There has been times in which I thought that most staff treated most residents like they did not know what was going on. I hated to witness this because after I befriended some of the residents I know they have a good mind but their bodies are fragile. Also, I was getting concerned about the food being served in the cafeteria. A lot of week nights they are served soup and half a sandwich. I have heard residents state to the people serving them that they could not eat what was served and was quickly told by the staff serving them that was all they had so eat it. A lot of times they were short handed in the kitchen and had to call in someone to come cook. I am concern also about the food being served because it does not seem to have any nutritional value. I went into the kitchen several times to see what was being served and saw many untouched plates being left by the residents. I am very concern about the grade the kitchen has posted of a 91. I am also worried at this point what may be come of North Pointe and the care that is suppose to be given to their residents. I hate to move my dad because he has made several wonderful friends there but worried about the care he may not be getting or may have not got in the pass. I am letting you know because I believe the more people involved hopefully things will improve at North Pointe. I just want my dad and the other residents there to get the care they need and is promised to them by North Pointe to stay healthy, safe, and happy. The situation at North Pointe is worrying me and starting to stress me out. I hope you can help.

A Special Place to Call Home

It has been five years this month since Mother chose to make North Pointe of Asheboro her home. I was impressed with the staff and facility on my first visit and have continued to value both even more over the years. An inviting atmosphere and home-like environment greets everyone at the door and extends throughout the building. More importantly, the dedicated and professional staff provides a wide spectrum of care to meet the individual needs of every resident. Someone is always available to offer an encouraging word, provide general assistance, host or supervise activities, administer prescribed medications, assist in case of emergency – the list goes on and on. Should a staff member ever notice any area of concern, there is contact with a family member to make them aware and/or keep them informed. North Pointe exemplifies the environment we expected in an assisted living community. I have a great time “going home” to visit mother knowing when I am not with her she is loved and cared for by a fantastic team of professionals.

My Mom has been at Northpointe for over 2 years. The staff is very good with my Mom. She always feels secure, and they make sure she is well taken care of daily. I don't worry about my Mom or her care at Northpointe. Cheryl does a great job as administrator, and I am thankful for all the nurses that help my mom with her medication. It is wonderful to know that our Mom is receiving great care daily, and we are very appreciate to all the staff at Northpointe for this!

New Phase of Life

My father has been a resident at North Pointe of Asheboro for almost two years. It was a difficult decision for him and family to make. He knew he could no longer keep up with managing his medication and day to day living skills so he chose to go to North Pointe on his own. It took him a little while to ajust, but now he is content and happy. We visit him quite often and love to see how the staff and my dad interacts with each other. I am thankful that the staff has been there for a while so the residents can build trust and a relationship with. The director has an open door policy to bring any concerns to and ready to address them. I can honestly say it is a true blessing to know when I lay my head down at night I know in my heart that my dad is safe, warm, happy, and being cared for during this new phase of his life. I am giving a 4 star rating only because there is always room to continue to grow. Thank you North Pointe keep growing..

Appreciation for North Pointe of Asheboro

North Pointe of Asheboro has been assisting my 90 year old Mom for seven years now. She needed a facility where her medications would be provided as scheduled or as needed and where meals would be prepared and served and where mild cognitive impairment could be acknowledged. Even when there have been staff changes, the staff has always been engaged with her for physical as well as emotional needs. Her laundry is done on a regular basis and she receives help with bathing and dressing. She has her hair fixed weekly, so she always looks pretty. Activities are available for fun, exercise entertainment, and spiritual interest. Transportation to doctors is provided and outings are planned for those who wish to partipate. The decor is pleasant and is updated for seasons and holidays. I feel free to talk to any staff member when I have questions or problems and I feel comfortable about her care. I don't believe any facility is perfect, but the pluses certainly outweigh any negatives at North Pointe of Asheboro! Thank you, North Pointe!

DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE

This place is a joke!! In the last year, my loved one has gone completely downhill because of this place! She used to be so independent and now has to use a wheelchair! They aren't staffed like they should be, they don't care how their residents are. They let the residents who need to be watched a little more than others sit in the parlor in their wheelchairs all slumped over. Have heard by some of the residents that they can't stand the food served and that it is gross. I highly recommend looking elsewhere if you care about your loved one's health.

Not a good fit

We toured North Pointe of Asheboro and I did not get a feeling of being welcomed by the director. I felt like they really didn't care whether we chose their community. I didn't think they offered a lot of variety in their meals.

Understaffed and constant turnover!

They offer an arrangement of activities to participate in. The cleaning staff keep everything fairly well. The Administration staff are friendly. There seemed to be miscommunication or lack of expectations among the staff and the care that they are supposed to provide. Staff ignore requests from residents like helping with care and medications. They line residents up against a wall to receive their medications. There is limited food offered and very rarely fresh. All of the vegetables are canned.

Seemed like a nice place!

I toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. The facility was well kept and clean, and all of the staff I met seemed friendly and professional. However, I don't think the care was the best match for what my loved one was needing at the time. Overall it seems like a nice place, and is definitely worth a look!

Friendly, open, welcoming staff!

We're very happy with North Pointe of Asheboro! It's a great looking, clean community, and it just has a pleasant atmosphere overall. From the moment you walk in you just get a warm and safe feeling. The staff were friendly, open, and welcoming, and we could tell they take great care of their residents.
