Move in was a bit crazy because they were switching the fob system. It took a while for us to get them. The food has been very good, but sometimes quantity is limited. My loved one is doing some of her own laundry and doesn't make it to breakfast and hardly ever both lunch and supper. I wish there was a way to compensate that price-wise, but we understand how it would be hard. Staff is responsive to our calls and texts. I would recommend this facility to others.... Read more

My mother not only got out of the memory care. She was also KT looked after and blown off. She got an infection so badly that was dismissed and have to have an amputation because of it. Feeling bad with ignoring it didn't cut it. We moved her a few months ago. Plus they never fixed broken blinds in her room from before even moving in. Bathroom was a mess and didn't fix that. Also having root beer floats is not an activity and the only kind. No stimulation or even walks. Bummer and how extreme they let my mom get and was brought to their attn with nurses several times. It wasn't until a Dr came in and aid she had to go to the ER in an ambulance NOW

Response from New Perspective Highland Park
September 9, 2024It is disappointing to hear about your mother’s experience, and we understand how upsetting this must have been for you. The care issues you mentioned, including your concerns about her health and the building environment, are not aligned with the standards we aim to uphold. We are always open to discussing situations like this in more detail, so please reach out to us at info@npseniorliving.com if you'd like to talk further.
Our family had a tour with [name removed] recently at the New Perspectives Highland Park location. This community is on the top of our list as we have a conversation about when to help our loved one move. This building may be older; however our priority is location, and the quality of care provided. They were welcoming from the start and took the time to understand what we were asking. We felt blessed to have options like this St. Paul. We could feel the warmth and hospitality of the staff, and residents we met along our tour. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them in the future. Moving somewhere new can be a tough conversation and we left at ease and confident about our options.

I would highly recommend New Perspective Senior Living Highland Park to others. The staff are very attentive and communicative: including the aides, nursing and operations staff. The move in process was well coordinated. The residents are friendly. The activities are well planned. The cleanliness and the value for cost are great. The food is good.

October 23, 2023Thank you for your kind review! We will gladly pass along your comments to the team here at New Perspective Highland Park. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us.
The pricing modules are very erratic and quite dramatic between levels of cares. We live in Arizona, and this facility is in Minnesota. I have only seen it the one time I was there delivering her to her new space. My sister-in-law lives close by and can tell you more about the place based on her visits. I would recommend this community for sure.

When it comes to the meals and dining service - the food is rarely served hot. An area the community could improve on would be staff retention. Staff retention would help a great deal to make things run smoother.

August 30, 2023Hi, Thank you for your kind review! We will gladly pass along your comments to the team here at New Perspective. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us.
My mother moved into the Assisted Living at New Perspective Highland Park and lived there for a few months before needing to move into Memory Care. Assisted living at New Perspective seems great - lots of interaction with other residents, a choice of good quality food, activities that are inclusive. That all changed in the Memory Care. No longer could she choose her meals but had to eat what was given her and it was often cold. I spoke to the director on several occasions about the food and was promised she would look into it. Nothing changed. I asked that something be done to the hinges on her door so it would close behind her because other residents were walking right into her apartment. She made a change which broke the trim around the door. Four months later that had not been repaired nor had the hinges been changed. My mother's name was never installed outside her door like other apartments. While some of the caregivers are excellent, there is a lack of respect and dignity in the Memory Care at New Perspective. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

Response from New Perspective Highland Park
September 6, 2023We appreciate your feedback and are genuinely disappointed that your experience does not align with the high standards we uphold for our communities. At our core, we prioritize inclusivity by striving to ensure that our memory care residents have the opportunity to savor the same featured menu options as those in assisted living and independent living. Nonetheless, should they desire something different, our extensive menu offers a range of choices. Regarding the absence of name plates on doors, we adhere to a policy of not installing these to circumvent potential HIPAA concerns. We believe it's best to entrust this decision to the families themselves. Such policies have played a crucial role in us achieving recognition such as the US News & World Report Best Assisted Living, Memory Care distinction, and being acknowledged as Minnesota's Best Memory Care provider by the Star Tribune. It's evident that we haven't met your expectations in this instance. We genuinely apologize for falling short. If you're open to it, we'd like to have a more in-depth conversation offline to better understand your perspective and implement any necessary improvements. Please don't hesitate to share your contact details with us at info@npseniorliving.com if you're interested in further discussing your experience.
The staff are nice and caring. There is a story about a homeless man asleep in the foyer. How New Perspective handled is shows that they not only care for their residents, but they care for the larger community as well. The main reason we chose this facility was based off of looks. It does not look or feel like an institution at all. I highly recommend A New Perspective as a safe, friendly place for your loved one. The setting and building reflect the warmth and friendliness of the staff.

August 2, 2023Dianne, thank you for your review! We are delighted to hear that your loved one is enjoying their time at New Perspective Highland Park.
The food was served cold. The care was substandard. I would not recommend the community to anyone. Anytime there was an issue it had to to the Executive Director, and nothing would change even though the Director promised. In fact sometimes it would get worse.
Response from New Perspective Highland Park
October 4, 2022Hi, thank you for your feedback. We appreciated receiving your comments as it helps us improve our operations. Still, we have questions regarding your review on which we would like to get additional clarification. For instance, given that you only toured this community, we are unsure of how you assessed the level of care we provide for our residents and how leadership managed difficult situations within the community. In fact, these claims contradict our recent survey findings that 3 out of 4 residents would recommend us to their friends and neighbors. Would you be interested in a further discussion offline so that we can better understand your perspective and take the steps to improve? If so, please reach out to feedback@npseniorliving.com with your name and contact information. We look forward to hearing from you.
For us, it was the only option we had. They have done a good job with my loved one. They were very accommodating, knowing that my loved one had significant health issues they needed to take on.

This was a big contender for my loved one. however, they wanted us to replace the flooring at our cost due to some issues we had with it and i did not think it should have been our cost. My mother needed a lift and it calls for a hard floor and we felt like the cost should be to them who was providing the services.
Response from New Perspective Highland Park
March 1, 2022Hi D, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. A representative from New Perspective will be reaching out to you soon to address your concerns. We look forward to hearing from you and thank you again.
Generally speaking New Perspective seems like a nice, warm place. They are currently looking for an activities director, and seem to have some activities for the residents. The response time for requests can take much longer than anticipated. In addition it can take a while to receive a call back after leaving a voicemail for staff. I wish I had known more about assisted living and known more on what to expect. Overall, my loved one is in a safe space and with qualified and some of whom seem to really care for the residents.

Our family had an in person tour and we really liked this community, however somehow we did get a sense that it was pretty expensive. It is much bigger then the other communities in the area we were looking into. They had a lot of nice activities and people just moving around out and about, however they just could not take our loved one at the time.

We chose this facility becuase of the location and they offered elderly waiver. My dad is in a studio and I feel like it is perfect for what he needs. I they have memory care and assisted living, so it is a low functioning community. There is not a whole lot of chatter and talk and get together, I think if they added independent that it would be more vibrant. Overall, I would absolutely recommend the community.

The staff at New Perspective were absolutely wonderful. The nursing staff were so fantastic. They were all helpful and friendly. We chose this community because they were able to offer a twelve month spend down and able to get my loved in quickly as he was be discharged from a rehab stay. We liked the care services that they offered and the staff seemed to really care about the residents. There was also longevity with the care staff and we liked that. However, the kitchen was going though turnover at the time, and my loved one wasn't crazy about the food.

I am writing a review for New Perspective Senior living of Highland Park based on my experience regarding my mom and my stepfather. Also, my dad was there in memory care. Making the decision to move my mom and stepfather to New Perspective was the best decision we ever made! Moving them from their home was hard. After a few weeks they were thriving. No more worrying if they were taking their meds, or wondering if they were eating well. The staff was amazing! They are always helpful and caring. They made friends, played cards, played bingo, went to church. The music they brought in was wonderful. Even if my parents got sick, they staff at New Perspective would call the doctors. If they had to be hospitalized, the staff was always in communication with family and doctors. They were welcomed like royalty when they came home from the hospital. My dad was at a different Senior Living. It was determined that he need memory care. His facility did not have memory care at the time. Knowing how much we loved New Perspective Highland Park, we moved him in. The first day a dear staff member came up to me and hugged me and said, "Don't worry, we'll take good care of him." And boy, did they ever! He was so well taken care of. During the 4 years at New Perspective there have been many times I had to deal with new medications, food restrictions, walkers, wheelchairs, sickness you name it. The staff was always so willing, caring and supportive. All three of my parents are gone now. They were able to stay in their cute little apartments until the end. I feel compelled to let others know that my parents all left this world with such love and dignity from the staff. I take great comfort knowing that they felt like they were home! When my parents first moved in to New Perspective, [name removed], the director said to me. "We are not perfect, we are people taking care of people". I think he was wrong. I think they are perfect!!!!

April 13, 2018Hi Susie, we are very happy to have provided you with such a positive experience! Your recommendation means so much to us and we're so happy to have earned it. Thank you again for taking the time to let the world know about your positive experience. Have a great day!
When we were looking for a place for my love one this location was actually my first choice. The facility was well run, it was sunny, and bright. However, I had to worry what my love one would be paying. Based on her income it was not a good fit unfortunately.
