The factors that made us choose Neville Place as a good fit for our mom continue to be the factors that bring satisfaction: the setting-direct access to the walking trails around Fresh Pond; the openness to respecting the residents' apartments as their own with freedom to welcome overnight guests. The one area that continues to be problematic is inconsistency with the administration of eye drops in the self-administered drug program. In my mother's case, missing eye drops occasionally is not life-threatening but for residents for whom adherence to consistent meds is vital, this might be a significant problem. Many activities take place on the level below the lobby, which residents reach via an elevator. If a resident is not comfortable using an elevator independently (which is a challenge for my mother who is legally blind and not at ease in elevators) this is a bit of an obstacle. In general I do not think staff is prepared to make sufficient accommodations for residents with little or no vision. I think they are better prepared and able to accommodate residents with mobility issues (wheelchairs, walkers)... Read more

It was a dream come true when my eighty-five year old mom was accepted to Neville & she arrived on [date removed], which is the day that I gave permission for her to get the COVID shot, which I gave her ASAP when it was available & she lived with me. She was recovering from becoming dehydrated at an Assisted Living Residence on the South Shore, Windrose at Weymouth, her first serious physical setback (even a stroke didn't stop her & she danced & was more physically fit than the staff at ALR) & was wheelchair bound for the first time in her life. I was impressed at the physical & occupational therapy. It was only after she tested positive for COVID on [date removed] that I was told that Neville never gave her the COVID shot! Apparently they were waiting for 4 more people to get it. Well Mom is dying & as far as I know, she gets to suffer by herself & 4 more people aren't coming with her. Apparently residents aren't required to get the shot, which is why COVID is running through the place. If your fami

The grounds, which connect to fresh pond reservoir provide wonderful daily walking opportunities for my mom for whom being outdoors and moving through the world is of huge importance. City living would be anathema to her so finding an assisted living center in this woods-water-walking trails environment in urban Cambridge, just 10 minutes from my home was a great fit for us. Director and staff are friendly and atmosphere is non-institutional. They describe their approach as "apartments with services ". Guests are welcome to stay overnight in residents' apartments. All these things were important to us.

Searching for an assisted living home for your loved one(s) can be daunting. Neville Place at Fresh Pond in Cambridge MA felt right from day one to today, six years later. The level of care has been consistently excellent. The staff’s daily commitment to help residents, including my sister, is real. Sherry W

The person who showed us round didn't seem to want to sell the place rather to share what it had to offer openly. Lovely location next to a reservation, great staff, food looks good, quite a few activities each day. Downside was you have to organize nurse/doctor, there are limits to care they can provide (which may mean another move) and that the place doesn't cater for any other faith than Christians. This is in our short-list.

After looking at several senior living homes, we found Neville Place to be the best for our needs and peace of mind knowing that our relative would be cared for in a respectful and caring way. I look forward to our visits and hearing how happy she is and how much she loves the activities and the food. She loves the building is and is only in her apartment to sleep. After living alone for many years and being independent, she has finally found a true sense of "home" with her new friends. And her family can rest assured that she's not alone anymore and is receiving wonderful care along with all the amenities of a family setting.

My loved ones have only been here a short time, but so far we're very pleased with how things are going at Neville Place! The staff here does a great job in general, the nurses are wonderful and the activities directors also do a great job! I really appreciate how experienced and knowledgeable they are when it comes to dealing with Alzheimer's Disease. They understand the issues that will come up, and how best to handle them, without simply resorting to more medication.

she was very nice & was able to answer all of our questions. Was pleasantly surprised that the inside of the building was very bright and cheery didn't get that feeling from the outside of the building. Loved the whole program on diet and activites including the art room. The compass program was why went there and was impressed with that whole side, so far the best memory care unit we have seen.

A Place for Mom has scored Neville Place 6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
