Response from Morningside Place Memory Care
July 26, 2023Linda, thank you for your review! I am pleased to hear that your family has had a positive experience at Morningside Place. We strive daily to meet out mission to protect, engage and love our residents living with memory loss.
We chose Morningside Place Memory Care because the person I spoke with at A Place for Mom recommended it and said everyone she had placed there has had a good experience. It is also a facility that is focused solely on memory care and I thought that would be very helpful for my dad. They are pricey, but I feel like he is getting good care. I would recommend them to others.

The tour guide was great but the community was not what we were looking for for our loved one.
Good community not a good fit for my loved one.
The reason we picked this community was because we like the environment and the community and the interaction with the residents. My loved one is pretty young so this was important to us. We would recommend this community for your loved one.

The staff seemed super friendly, and the person who led the tour reached out several times afterward to make sure my loved one was okay, which was nice. But when I walked in, there was a pretty bad bathroom smell, which gave me a bad feeling about the facility overall. And they were pretty expensive too.
Some of the belongings of my loved one we didn't get back home them. The clothes belonged to someone else. The ability to keep track of things could be improved. They were easy to work with. The administrative team was helpful and friendly.

One thing they could improve on or that they need to work on is getting more face to face time with our loved one. Whether that is through zoom calls, face time or Skype during this time with covid.

They had a good variety of activities. The staff would try to have our loved one participate in the activities. This a great place, and I believe you should take advantage of this community. We looked at several different communities, and feel this is the best decision we could have made for our loved one. The food was good. The staff would make accommodations for our loved one for the food he wanted. The staff wouldn't force our loved one to eat food they didn't like. The lady in charge of the food, would ask me when she saw me about the food options for our loved one. They would ask me what my loved one enjoyed to eat. The activity coordinator would take a group of men out once month to have just an activity for them to participate in. The would have both men and women activities only available for the residents. One thing would be manicures for the ladies, while the men watched football. The staff would call me with any updates on my loved one. They cared so much for our loved one like we would if they would be at home. They made sure our loved one wouldn't fall on the staff. The only issue we had was with the Nursing Director was in regards with the pain medication. Her opinion was different then mine and hospice's opinion as well. The Nursing Director didn't want this to happen. The hospice team and the Community Director took us out of the middle. In the end the Nursing Director allowed this to happen. Our needs for our loved one were meet.

The staff is very friendly and very nice. The room sizes are really good, she currently shares a room but has enough room for her stuff. she was eating better at Morningside and liked the food. The office staff worked with us transiting to Medicaid. I would recommend this facility to others.

I am concerned, my aunt has had some medical issues. The medication was not given correctly. It is hard not being able to visit. They have tried to do video call to help families stay connected. They are not the greatest with communicating to the families when they are open for visits. I feel there is some disconnect with the staff understanding the resident's needs.

My mother is doing very well since her move to this community. I know she is safe, and in great hands. The staff at this facility is great. They are very compassionate, and have been very friendly whenever I visit. They do a good job with the cleanliness around the community. Everything is always neat, and tidy. They provide good meals, and have plenty of activities available for the residents. All is well for my mother in this community, and I would recommend it to friends.

Moving my parents from Iowa to be closer to a family was a BIG challenge. Morningside Place made it easier for my sister and me. So impressed with the staff, especially [Removed], that I canceled appointments at other facilities.

I thought my dad was accepted and able to move into this community. A representative offered us place that was not confirmed with the administration and they did not approve the move. We did not move in but had to start the search again.

This community is nice. The staff are nice and they are always willing to make things better if there are issues. The community.is clean and maintained. The activities are good for her and she really likes music. I like being able to take my mom outdoors. I would recommend this community for a good value and care of a love one. Sometimes they seem alittle short staffed, but they are improving that.

I cannot say enough about the kindness and loving care of the administration and everyday staff of this "home" for my Dad. I've toured and looked at a number of places, and its not good out there! Morningside is 200% better, and they actually care for my Dad. Enough said.

The Morningside Place is holding a place for us, my mother will be back but right now she is in a nursing home. She has requested to go back to this community once she is better because she was pleased with the care she received here. The food at this place is good. The staff here really take very good care of everyone. We definitely recommend this place.

Although the community has new carpet, flooring, painting, being completed they somehow manage to keep everything running at the same beat, the community is clean and life is really running so smoothly it is easy to forget about all the work currently being completed.
