The day to day staff at MorningStar of Hayward is great, the administrative staff is okay. They need to hire accountants that know accounting. As for the food, sometimes it is a 2 (cold food) and sometimes it is a 5 (outstanding steaks). The housekeeping is okay, they don't always clean well. Communication with the family is good. The move in process was okay. They need to clean up the basement and basement access. The 'extra help' charges are a disaster. Everything is points and levels. I have no idea what stuff costs. I thought it was incredible. This was not for a parent, just someone I was taking care of and I have to say the care was wonderful. They accommodated her needs and allowed her to say in a room that was better for her, in independent living when she was really closer to assisted living. They managed all of that so I have to give them a lot of credit for that. The activities were fine. She didn't take advantage of many of them but she take advantage of some. They lots of different options. I know they had movies and a few other things but I'm not sure of everything they had. I have no suggestions for improvement. Their ability to accommodate our needs was incredible and their willingness to adjust things was great. She's a very picky woman and they were able to manage that. I thought they were excellent. I was very impressed. I would recommend them.

The staff was lovely and caring, but the facility is quite dingy and dark. However, many of the apartments overlook the beautiful Japanese garden nearby.
