We had a terrible experience with the MorningStar at Arrowhead community and have since moved both of our parents. I would NOT recommend them for anyone dealing with a male dementia/Alzheimer’s patient

My loved one was previously a resident at MorningStar at Arrowhead. I would never recommend this place to anybody. Everything that they tell you upfront is not what happens there and they don't really care about their residents. Only the ones that managed to take care of themselves. My grandma's bed and linens in her closet were covered in feces and so was she. Dried feces on a regular basis. I paid for shower services, which were never done. She was left her in her room every single day, they didn't even try to get her out. They brought her food to the room in Styrofoam. Her silverware went missing, even after I replaced it. Her clothes were never changed. They consistently yelled at her while she laid in bed, for pushing her call button too many times, even though she was in pain. All of this was caught on camera. My grandma lost so much weight and none of her clothes fit. They never had an activities director and didn't really have activities.

The staff is always in contact me. They are so kind to me and my father. He stays very busy there and I love that. The activities there have helped him create friendships which is good because he is very social. He seems so happy. I would absolutely recommend Morningstar to others!

Note that the 3 on #8 is related to the memory care services. This is a much smaller section of Morning Star and I believe l the costs related to running a top notch assisted living center impact memory care. I recently moved my father to another facility which is 100% memory care and a smaller facility. It saves me thousands annually for similar if not better care.

I would say it's a good pick because they are really helpful with explaining the process. They were also very quick at getting us scheduled a tour and then moving in.

My husband was only there 5 days and he passed away . However, in our short time I was amazed with the service and attention we received - such a wonderful loving atmosphere - I wish we had found it sooner. From the initial tour of property, answering all my questions. The staff could not have been more caring and concerned. Everyone went out of their way to learn our names and talk to us to learn a little something about us making me know I made the right choice. Our facility had an activities director and she had 2 other people assisting her. There was also entertainment few times a week. I have told everyone I meet that find themselves in the of this type of facility about Morningstar. Told my friend in Billings MT and she told someone - that person actually became a resident. My only complaint - I did not find Morningstar sooner - truly believe my husband would have had a little more time- at least better quality - rather than sitting in a hospital where they made it clear he was not a priority due to his declining condition

Great sales staff. Still trying to determine if what they say is what they provide. Memory Care is more specific and staff should have proper training. We picked this community because of the availability/ Special price/ specific memory care training for their staff. Mostly the memory care training advertised.

As it relates to the tender world of memory care to which we are deeply committed, Lavender Sky training (on our philosophy and programming in dementia care) is mandatory for the entire team. These precepts are culled from the best thought leaders and care practices in dementia care, guiding the team in how to support those with memory impairment. Please reach out to Executive Director Dawn Romayo, who is eager to address specific concerns and explain our Lavender Sky brand standards. We also regularly host a Reflections Family Council as an opportunity to bring questions and ideas to us. To life!
Staff members are very kind and engaging with residents and family at MorningStar Assisted Living and Memory Care at Arrowhead. However, the turnover of employees is concerning. Family and residents get very happy and comfortable with a staff member, then she leaves. The move in process was smooth and good. The cleanliness of the main family room area is very good. Housekeeping of my parents' room is not very good. There is a different cleaning staff every time and they just do basic surface cleaning. I always bring a bag of supplies and clean the toilet, bathroom and floors. Their laundry basket is always full. They often only have one bath towel available. Responsiveness of responsible staff has been poor. Initially, the food was not good quality and my parents were not eating. A few weeks later, the food improved and my parents were very happy. The staff said that a new chef began. I'm happy to see improvement in the food quality. It would be incredible if family can receive a weekly menu and document recommended changes. I've tried a couple times with the menu printed at the front desk and making notations, X's on foods my parents will not eat and then ask staff to provide the document with notations to the cooking staff. It worked twice with requested changes, but that was it. I'm guessing it was confusing for the cooking staff to see the handwritten notations all over their weekly menu. An emailed menu, with change recommendations, might be cleaner and easier for the cooking staff to understand. Activities in Memory Care are very sparse. The residents need to be physically engaged and invited to participate in different activities. Back to routines, musician on Thursdays at certain time, movie Wednesday with old Elvis movies, etc. Routine exercise and fitness is a big favorite, but also very sparse. If someone does not personally go and tell my parents they are invited to join, they will not, due to lack of understanding. The gentleman that did physical therapy with group chair exercises came in and gathered some residents to begin. My mom got very excited and the gentleman said he was sorry, but they did not take my parent's health insurance so he could not work with them. Unbelievable. We pay a high monthly rate for my parents' care. I understand that we moved in during a change of executive staff. I am still hopeful for improvements with structure and consistency.

They were responsive and eager to help my mom. I would recommend them, but only if their parent was able to take advantage of the activities. It's awfully expensive if the person is going to be in bed or in their room all day.

My loved one seems to enjoy the food. We picked this community because my loved one liked it the best. With the activities, they bring in comfort animals and musicians. They have been amazing, and really good at dealing with my loved one. They are doing a very good job. I would recommend to other families.

The community itself is very clean and the administrative staff team are very friendly, whenever we do have questions or concerns and we bring it to their attention they are very responsive. However the care team (nurses, aids, med techs) the friendliness can be a hit or miss and at times it seems like they do not communicate with one another. Also the meals could be improved, our loved one says they are not that good and dry.

We had a great tour experience at MorningStair at Arrowhead. We had previously toured the MorningStar closer to me and we got the same great lively vibe from this facility. When we toured they had live entertainment preforming and the residents were really enjoying it. The reason we went with the other MorningStar was because of the locaiton, but this also seems like a great place!

It is a new community. It is a great smaller community. My loved ones have access to anything they want, and have independence if needed. Due to the pandemic the food has been delivered to the resident's rooms. There can be a lack of variety. A great assisted living community that is flexible with us allowing us to help the transition of our loved ones.
