It's really sad that has gone down hills so quickly since we moved in 19 months ago They didn't have an activity director until 2 months ago. The management staff does not properly train the caregiver as. They need more trained CNA's.

I am currently a resident at Liberty Heights and everything about my experience here has been great! I moved here from a different facility that I was not happy with, this place has been much better for me! I would recommend this facility to others.

April 16, 2024Making you smile makes us smile too. We’re so glad you’re here. Thanks for all your positive comments.
We toured with Liberty Heights and had a great experience. Liberty Heights is an older facility with lots of beautiful wood. My sister didn't feel it was casual enough for her.

August 9, 2023Our community is a vibrant place, and your kind words go a long way to brighten our day. We’ll be sure to share your kind review with our residents and team members. Thanks so much.
Our family loved Liberty Heights and they had several more amenities and features than what we ended up choosing. But had chosen the other based off individual care needs we felt fit our loved ones special needs better. Definitely a top contender though!

We toured Liberty Heights and the guide gave us a good tour. The community we chose was the right size, but Liberty Heights felt a little spread out. So, for socialization and community cohesiveness, the other community was better. At Liberty Heights, the people felt more segregated in terms of the different groups of people and how it was spread out. I didn't feel that it would have lend itself to a lot, socially. We chose another community because Liberty Heights was also a little dated. It was clean and nice, but it was definitely built in the 80s. So it was a little dated in terms of décor and its condition.

August 23, 2022Thank you for considering our community. Along with personal care, giving our residents an active, uplifting lifestyle is at the heart of what we do. We’re grateful for your review.
I would recommend this community for you or your loved one. They have activities at this community like games, happy hour, mixers and more for the residents to do to stay busy. They also have outings to restaurants and places around town, work out classes and more for the residents to do. The staff are friendly and helpful with my loved one.

March 22, 2022Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. Our residents are our top priority, and we are so pleased you've had a great experience. Thanks again!
I would tell people not to go to Liberty Heights. Overall they did good, but we left because the food was so bad. The food wasn't edible, and residents still complain about it. There were exercise classes, different support groups, book club, jeopardy and more for the residents to choose from. The administration team wasn't willing to assist with fixing the issues with the food. I felt they just smiled and didn't hear our complaints. At the beginning the community was good, and I feel it was starting to go downhill after we moved in.

They are like a used car salesperson. Whatever it takes to get you in the door and your loved one a resident. It has been a hassle from day one with empty promises and unreturned phone calls. The staff has been kind, management has been unwilling to budge -that is when I have heard from them. Promises a plenty upon signing the paperwork but my loved one still does not have what was guaranteed to her. They have not handled the COVID crisis well At All and frankly I am disappointed that my family has chosen Liberty Heights. I have been looking at other locations and plan to move my loved one as soon as this health crisis allows for such a move. With many options in the Springs, I would encourage others to do the same. There are 3 new facilities opening by the end of the year that look promising as well as others up North with more reasonable prices than Liberty Heights.

My mother loves Liberty Heights and she says won't move anywhere else. The independent living staff are amazing. They have helped with anything we have needed or asked of them to do. We were aware prior to moving in that there were dining issues. The food and dining service is terrible, however, someone from corporate has stepped in to resolve the food issues. Before COVID, they welcomed family to join in activities , meals, pool, and happy hour. They have done an amazing job keeping the residents safe during COVID.

August 5, 2020Thank you Suzan! We so appreciate you taking the time to write. We use all feedback - both positive and constructive - to improve and thank you for pointing out the steps we are taking in the right direction. We will pass your kudos to our staff!
My parents moved here in 2018 - they moved from Florida into the Independent Living portion of Liberty Heights. They liked the attached garage and the view. At first the food was mediocre, but palatable. Then the "chef/cook" left, then things started going downhill. I spent an entire evening in the ER with my dad after he choked on a piece of beef that was so tough he could even chew it. I couldn't even cut mine, so I was shocked that he even took a bite. Then the kitchen manager changed and things got so bad that residents started taking complaints to corporate - to no avail. Unfortunately, the management had also changed since they first moved there, and he was less than receptive; in fact he moved his office to make himself less available. I have to buy groceries for my mom just so that she can get some nutritious, let alone edible food. The facility is dirty and worn, yet they raise the rent every January - but just got a notice that rents would go up in October this year (probably again in January.) This is NOT the place for anyone looking to enjoy their senior years. In two years my parents have paid enough to have bought a condo, or for me to have built an ancillary dwelling for them. At 88 years old, the thought of another move is too much for them - so they will continue to flush hard earned money down the toilet and still have to buy groceries and cook. In essence, they are paying $6,000 a month for a condo with an attached garage and nothing else - oh, wait, they push a button every morning so staff knows they are still upright. As far as "gated community," in the winter, the gates never close. I have left there at all hours of the night, only to have the gates wide opened. Go Elsewhere if you value your retirement and your portfolio.

August 7, 2020Ann- Thank you for your feedback. At Liberty Heights, we are proud of our community and lifestyle we provide to our residents, but always seek to listen and improve. I will address some of your concerns here, and welcome the opportunity to speak in-person to better understand your point of view. -We have listened to our residents and continue to make improvements to our dining services. Let's discuss any ongoing issues soon. -COVID-19 has presented a number of challenges, among them, increasing the space needed to welcome visitors and families into our community. While the location of my office has changed, my open-door policy for residents, families, and guests has not. -COVID-19 also presented us with an opportunity to review our gate and security policies. I would be happy to detail those during our conversation. Finally, I just want to say that your mother is an integral member of our community - and your and her happiness and satisfaction is the highest priority. Please reach out to me at your earliest convenience and I would be happy to schedule a meeting to discuss all of this in greater detail. Sincerely, Roger Call, Executive Director, Liberty Heights
My parents moved to Liberty Heights 18 months ago. We were sold by the attached garages, the availability of 3 bedrooms units and the view of Pikes Peak. The staff really is the best thing about Liberty Heights, although there is frequent turnover. Over the last 18 months there has been a change in management, most of the office personnel has changed, the dining room cannot keep staff, in fact I have witnessed security or maintenance staff serving meals, and times where the wait for food was over 40 minutes because there was not enough staff. Keeping bus drivers has been a challenge, too. I believe that only one bus is in service at this time. Although the units are generally spruced up upon move-in, windows don't open and plumbing is sensitive because of the age of the facility. It is supposed to be a gated property, however either one or both of the gates are generally open at all hours of the day or night. Still, it is the kindness of the staff that lets us overlook those deficiencies, as well as the poor management. HOWEVER, nothing can make up for the inedible food that they have consistently put out the entire time my parents have been there. My mom is 88 and needs a walker for balance. It is difficult for her to lift pots and pans because of the weight, and because she needs to keep her balance - nonetheless, she had lost so much weight from not being able to eat the dining room food, we have had to find short cuts and simple frozen food meals, etc. that she is able to make for herself. So why is she paying over $6000.00 a month? Going to the dining room is an important part of the socialization that you get at these facilities. The food is not locally sourced or fresh by any stretch as advertised on their website. Vegetables are consistently rubbery, meat is dry, bread is not fresh and food is served lukewarm. I once saw a promotional video boast this property as a cruise ship on land, and I understand that the dining experience was lovely before Liberty Heights was sold to the current corporate entity - now, the only cruise ship it resembles is the sinking Titanic.

September 17, 2019Thank you! We think our community is a five-star experience too!
It was my mom's idea to move to Colorado Springs from Arizona to be near to us. We researched several of the options available here in town. She had some criteria that she wanted: a separate garage, a patio (not a balcony) and her own laundry. When we brought her to visit and choose a place, within 5 minutes of walking into Liberty Heights she told us to "Write the check, this is where I want to live!". She loved the layout of the overall complex, having a ground level home with garage and patio. She loved that she could walk anywhere and not have to go outside if she didn't want to. Most of all, she loved that she was told that her family could come and go as much as she wanted, whether eating with her or participating in activities or using the facilities (pool etc.). In the four years since my dad has been gone, my mom has not been this happy. She is making friends and doing activities I never dreamed she would do! As a daughter, I am impressed with Liberty Heights as well. They are extremely friendly and inclusive. We always feel welcome and informed. Any question or concern is directly addressed and resolved. The units are older, but the fact that each new resident has control over how their unit will look and that the unit is completely renewed with flooring, paint etc is impressive. The cost of living there is at the higher end of my mom's budget, however, the value of what she is getting for that cost far outweighs the dollar amount. The location for our family is perfect. We love the gated community and feel like it is extremely safe. No place is perfect, but we are very happy we chose Liberty Heights!

I took a tour of this facility and thought the units were nice. They were a decent size and there were a variety of unit types available that had garages. However, the price was a bit expensive. I’ve heard from other people I know that it’s a nice place to live as long as you’re self-sufficient. The cleanliness was good and I didn’t see anything that looked out of place. I haven’t heard anything good about the assisted living part of the community, so I would say do your research before moving your loved one in.

January 12, 2018Thank you for taking the time to share your review of Liberty Heights. Our goal is to provide a 5-star experience for our residents and families and we appreciate your feedback!
How on earth Liberty Heights in Colorado Springs could possibly have earned any kind of rating (at least in the past two years) above a "1" is beyond me. My parents will be paying close to $6,000 beginning in January and have leaks in their roof and plaster hanging from the ceiling that have not been fixed for over 6 months. They are not the only ones. The company can't keep housekeepers, and can't seem to put a decent meal on the table. Even the servers shake their heads at the [Removed] they have to put on a table in front of the residents. Fewer and fewer people will even go to the dining room. Requests for help getting things fixed get a nod and a "we'll get that taken care of right away" and nary a word is heard for months because the staff have to "clear it with headquarters." Nothing seems to get cleared with headquarters. What a shame that a place that started out as wonderful to live in, where the owners cared about what happens there, has come to this. I'm sure the "corporate" is happy to rake in the money they do each month and their bank accounts are bulging. I can guarantee they would never live in a place like this. No wonder so many people are looking for other places to live.

I have been really impressed with Liberty Heights, they have really embraced my mom and dad, and they have been so accommodating. They’ve allowed my dad to display his weather vane and his flag outside their apartment. The manager didn’t miss a beat. The people that work there seem to deal with everything in a thoughtful and systematic way. The food is good there, and I like that they have a credit based system. If my parents don’t use one of their meals, they get credits that they or anyone in their family can use to get meals for free. My mother has surprised us all with her improvements. She eats better here, and is more social as well. We’re all very pleased. Every time I turn around, Liberty Heights is coming up with another way to help us. I would definitely recommend it.
