Our state-of-the-art retirement community at Lake Park is ready to welcome you or your loved ones with open arms! We opened our doors in 1965 to the heart of Oakland, California, where residents have enjoyed convenient access to downtown Oakland, the bay area, and plenty of parks over the years.
Residents can enjoy both independent and supported living in our community. Those who elect a more supported community can choose from assisted living and skilled nursing care plans depending on their care needs and goals. We are proud to provide diabetic, ambulatory, incontinence, and memory care as well as medication management. With a highly-trained staff of registered nurses and other healthcare professionals, we are ready to assist residents with their needs.
In addition to providing care, we are also passionate about providing food! Residents enjoy three chef-inspired meals a day from nostalgic favorites to trendy new recipes. We are happy to accommodate dietary restrictions and work with your care team to provide meals that fit your needs.
We also believe community is everything here at Lake Park. With a variety of activities to choose from, residents bond with one another over shared interests and new experiences alike!

Response from Lake Park Senior Living
June 27, 2024Anonymous, thank you for sharing these kind words with us about our community. It means the world to our team at Lake Park Senior Living!
The facility is beautiful. [name removed] lives in a studio apartment with a beautiful view. Staff is excellent, food is more than acceptable. Many activities to choose from. Maintenance requests take a little while for response but not a problem yet. The overall feel of Lake park was outstanding. Also, residents seemed very friendly and engaged in the community.

Response from Lake Park Senior Living
April 17, 2024Hi David, thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a positive review
I wish I could rate this higher as Lake Park used to be a fuller service facility and is now just feels like a Room & Board facility. I get that it needed some updating under the new mgmt, but it feels rather cheap. We picked it because it was affordable and could improve the social interaction over the isolation of living alone.

Response from Lake Park Senior Living
March 28, 2024We appreciate your concern about the community and realize that the choices which we made to renovate and upgrade our community did not make it a good fit for everyone. We still have one floor dedicated for Assisted Living residents, but this is not the entire focus of the community. We encourage all residents to use the entire community, from the main dining room, to happy hours on the rooftop, to participating in an art class or fitness class. We hope that you will see the benefits of these changes.
The facility itself is beautiful and recently went through a renovation. The staff was helpful and friendly, as were the other residents. I would recommend the facility to others.

Response from Lake Park Senior Living
December 12, 2023Hi Ashley S, we are so glad our team could exceed all of your expectations. Thank you for taking the time to leave this positive review for our community! We look forward to seeing you again at Lake Park Senior Living.
My mother-in-law enjoyed Lake Park for many years until the recent purchase of it by Pacifica. After the purchase, the internal communication and quality of services declined rapidly, including decreased security (random people entering the building and apartments), and regularly running out of food, which is so awful! My MIL decided to leave, as have other long-term residents. Now, Pacifica refuses to return these residents' deposits in a flagrant breach of contract and won't respond to any inquiries. Out of necessity, we now have to explore legal avenues to get back the money my 85-year old MIL is owed and needs for living expenses. It's unclear what the new owners do care about, but it's obviously not the seniors they are supposed to be serving. It is a tragic and deplorable situation.

Response from Lake Park Senior Living
February 2, 2024Changes in living accommodation are never easy for seniors and their families. And, some of the policies and procedures may be confusing. To clarify, not all entrance fees are automatically refunded when a resident leaves a community. You will have to look at the terms specified in your individual contract. For those who are eligible for a refund, it will take at least 90 days for the refund to be issued. If you have any additional questions, we suggest that you make an appointment to discuss this with the executive director of the community.
I am a resident here and moved in [date removed]. Today I really love the broccoli salad for lunch and the jello for dessert! [name removed] in marketing is always so helpful with with my work orders, and maintenance is fantastic on getting right on it. I have made some friends here like my friend [name removed] we get along great. I am most great full!

Response from Lake Park Senior Living
October 20, 2023Thank you Winnie W for your positive recommendation of Lake Park Senior Living! Our team is passionate about providing the best possible experience for all of our residents and their family members, and we are so glad to have achieved that today.
Some of the food my mother may feel is be too spicy for her. I think they need a more neutral variety on the menu. I spoke to another resident, and she said that it was better before the acquisition. I'm sure this is an isolated incident. But once the property was acquired by Pacifica, the sales and marketing person was unresponsive. Because of her incompetence, my mother's move was delayed by 1 month and we had to pay rent anyway. She is no longer with the company. she did not know what she was doing. She did not send the proper paperwork and the lease until the last minute Which delayed my mother's move. Other than that it is a nice place to live. I would recommend Lake Park with one caveat: be prepared to take at least 4-6 weeks to get paperwork completed and signed off by the resident's physician. Make sure there is someone there who knows how to read the lease. State Form 602 is one of many sets of documents required before a resident can move in. The property management is clueless on the difficulty in getting it completed.

Response from Lake Park Senior Living
July 24, 2023We appreciate the compliments in this review. As you said the person who caused you delays with your mom is no longer working here. We strive to provide the best possible service while helping families make this big move. Please feel free to contact the executive director with your comments.
That the place is under new management and has a big upside potential for resuming services and activities that once made it a great place to live. The Community Fee isn't huge, which makes the barrier to entry relatively low and the loss, if one decides to move in a year, minor.
