I spent 8+ hrs. with her daily, so there were things I did that was usually done by them. i think that was more than usual, and I felt my presence was - hard to say- intrusive? by a couple of staff, but I think-they did not know how she had fared in rehab - breaking her elbow, etc., that I was a little overprotective of her. overall, it is an excellent place and very close to home.... The friendliness at La Sonora at Dove Mountain is good. Extroverts and introverts can be in their respective zones, in the same room. The caregivers are okay, some of them are great but it is usually when they can get to you. There are so many in need at the same time. There is turnover at all levels with little to zero communication with those who foot the bill or work there. In about 18 months, there were 3 different Executive Directors and 4 or 5 different chefs. There are lots of activities, if you can find out about them. The whiteboards scattered about often do not list all outings. Some remain hidden in the signup book in the Bistro, lousy communication.

My loved one was previously a resident at La Sonora at Dove Mountain and the overall experience was good. The friendliness was great. The staff and care services were good. Several of the employees there were very competent and compassionate. It's a tough job. I would recommend La Sonora at Dove Mountain to others.

They had a change in management and can't keep a cook - but overall, grateful she is there, she's very happy! That's what matters.

La Sonora, nestled within the picturesque Dove Mountain, is an absolute treasure. My friend recently relocated to this exceptional community, and I must say, the events and the staff are truly exceptional. The new chef has not only gone above and beyond but has also managed to craft exquisite, culinary masterpieces that I am fortunate enough to savor alongside my friend. Every moment at La Sonora is filled with excitement and a heartwarming ambiance. This experience has left me with no doubt about where I'll choose to stay in the future. La Sonora, you shine brilliantly and have left an indelible impression!

La Sonora has been a wonderful community for my dear friend. Before she moved in she was very lonely, since then in she has become a new person. The staff and residents are both very helpful and friendly. They have many activities to choose from and work very hard to make each day fun and exciting. The community itself is new and very clean, and the apartments are also very spacious. I am so glad to see my friend thriving in such an amazing place.

Based on the experience we have had so far, we can say that La Sonora is basically a good place. However, they need to provide the care they promised to give and the care that we are paying for.

We picked this community, because of the location, apartment location, price, and it was just a really nice place.I would say this is the most friendly community I've ever experienced. I, myself, now know a half dozen residents because they are so friendly. The facility is fairly new, clean and staff are very friendly and helpful. I 100% picked the right place for my mom thanks to the help of A Place for Mom.

As with most places like this, there is a lot of turnover which means frequent shortages in staffing and delays in servicing residents. My loved one has a degenerative and fatal condition and cannot pivot well. This means the easy way out is to require 2 caregivers on transfers and a higher care$$$ level. Training is available to teach caregivers how to transfer with one caregiver. So far $$$$ for two caregivers. Food is improving but has a long way to go to improve preparation, execution and selection of other facilities known for excellent food. Care is improving but has a way to go. The Director of Assisted Living is listening to residents. A change in ownership seems to have focused more and more on the bottom line and our perks seem to be whittled slowly away.

This is a new and great community. The staff are great to work with. The menu hasn't been able to be provided to the family yet. The food come down to the memory care unit at 4 and then served at 4:30. It would be nicer if it was served hot. We have brought this up to the staff for their awareness. The staff and community did a great job during the pandemic lockdown.

I really like it here. It's been perfect. I absolutely love my apartment. It's big and has plenty of storage. The bathroom is handicap accessible and is more than large enough to accommodate a wheelchair. We got a new activities director, and she's really trying hard and has a lot going on. I just wish the food wasn't quite so salty.

I chose La Sanora because it is very close to my daughter and the price is very reasonable for what you get. The apartment sizes here are fine, I am in a studio and it is more than enough space for me. We are getting a new activities director at the end of the month and I think that will improve the activities a lot. I would recommend this facility and already have.

We would like to thank [name removed] for helping us relocate our brother to an Alzheimer and Memory Care facility. Even though we did not utilize La Sonora, [name removed] continued to be a resource and walk us through our selection process. [name removed], personally called us at least three different times to make sure we were on the right path. Thank you [name removed] for all your assistance and guidance, James and John Romeo.

My Dad and I met with [name removed] for a tour of the new property, to see if it would be a good fit for my Step Mom who is in another Memory Care facility; and for my Dad who reluctantly agreed to consider a move himself, to be able to spend more time with her. [name removed] was empathetic to our needs, an outstanding listener, who showed us what we were looking for without wasting time on things that were less important. He introduced us to [name removed], the Memory Care Director, who gave us extra confidence my Step Mom would be well cared for, with a more personalized program. They plan to have a courtyard area with Desert Tortoises, that several rooms will look out at....a unique touch! There was no pressure, but just the feeling that they were interested in what was best for the individual. My Dad left very impressed, and with a bit of excitement about the future. We are looking forward to the opening!

I have been looking at various Independent living facilities for the past few months. Having decided on one that really didn't meet all of my needs thought I would settle for that facility. Then Paul gave me a tour of La Sonora and that felt just like home to me. Paul was very gracious and obviously was very proud of the facility. The building has everything that one would need and when completed will be spectacular. The apartments are spacious and very well designed. I just can't wait to move into my forever home and long to go for walks in the desert before breakfast. Thanks to [name removed] for such an inspiring tour.
