Our mom moved in to King city Senior Village almost 5 months ago, and she loves it! The best (and in my opinion the most important) feature is the happy, upbeat vibe. The food is excellent, a fact every resident points out, and the staff are always eager to help There are so many activities and amenities that I have a hard time getting mom to make time for me. (I am not kidding here - not sure how I feel about that.) she even has an assigned raised garden plot she’s planted flowers in for winter. On a final note, when we went to tour the facilities, we interviewed residents (away from staff). Many had moved from nearby facilities. The first thing they mentioned was how good the food was, the second how nice everyone was, the third how much they loved all of the activities. Like my mother says, she just wished she’d moved in sooner.... Read more

The facility is mismanaged, maintenance issues are often ignored, cottages are old and appliances had problems, Emphasis seems to be on activities to impress the public. We left there almost a year ago and are living in the [removed]. 100 per cent better than King City.

What stood out for me was that, each time I visited, the residents all seemed to be really enjoying themselves. They have all sorts of activities, the food is (they all said) great, and my Mom especially enjoyed the gardens.

Residents report that they are often “stuck” in the elevator between floors, and are left waiting for staff response after pushing the Emergency button. While there are stairs available, very few residents are physically able to use them. The Emergency Alert System could be described as a joke, were it not for serious potential consequences. Though the system is antiquated and totally inoperable, nothing has been done to remove the “emergency” cords and signs in the apartments. As a result, a number of residents have had serious medical emergencies and desperately pulled the cords to no avail, only then realizing that they had been given a false sense of security by relying on the visible evidence of an “emergency alert system”. The new executive director, marketing director and maintenance man are all aware of these problems, but show no interest in the resident’s concerns or safety. Meanwhile, the above selling features are still proudly listed on their website.

Response from King City Senior Village
December 2, 2022We appreciate your concern on behalf of your loved one. Rest assured, the elevator repair was executed immediately, and the emergency call button in the elevator dispatches to a third-party monitoring system, in following local regulations. The emergency call system does have room for improvement, though it is not inoperable. All residents are counseled to call 911 in a true medical emergency, regardless of a call system, considering we are an independent living community with no medical staff as would exist in a community with licensed care. We are pleased to share that we will be updating the call system and continue to apprise residents of the project’s status. Please do not hesitate to call our office at 503.684.1008 to discuss your concerns; our residents’ safety and well-being remains our top priority.
When my wife passed, I found myself alone. Dr suggested I get a cat for company, then I found King City Senior Village. I moved in and the 1st day I was there I was very pleased with the friendliness of the staff and residents, they made me feel right at home. I don't have to do the cooking or the cleaning. I have heard some complaints, but I would say I am very happy with my choice.

While it is kept clean, they seem less attentive than originally presented. The meals that should be hot are often served cold; the meals are not always what was chosen from the menus. There have been concerns about theft which makes residents feel unsafe. During covid restrictions meals are suppose to be delivered to residents ‘ rooms, but some weren’t delivered at all. They have provided services such as covid vaccinations which makes it convenient. But they have limited their transportation services (for medical appointments) to one day a week.

I was looking for a place for my Mom and Aunt to retire, and came across the King City Senior living facilities, Called and made an appointment with [name removed] the Head administrator director, First of all he was awesome, very thoughtful, asking the right questions for my Moms and Aunts needs. You could tell his personal questions had a lot of thought put towards them to make sure he was covering all his bases to clearly make sure they would be happy upon moving out of their house into a new home fulfilling all of their needs and then some. The facilities have been newly remodeled and it looks awesome. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a place for the family to retire go to the King City Senior Living first and compare to other senior living out in the same area. It was very clear to me it doesn't get any better than this. And [name removed], the administrator director becomes a part of their lives to make sure everyone's needs are fulfilled over the top and then some. Thanks again [name removed]

Good location for us, but felt a little older. Not enough activities for my active mother! Plus the 'gym' was nothing but a few pieces of equipment in a small room. was light and bright inside, they had just done a huge remodel and it shows. Did not have full kitchens, but had potential, especially for someone on a budget.

We liked this community before the new owners came in. They wanted the community to be for independent living only. The have been remodeling the entire community. They lost most of their staff during the transition. We liked the staff prior to the change. With the changes this community would not work for mom.

My mom toured this community for her care. She liked the staff and that they could answer her questions. The community was clean and she liked the menu. She wanted a bigger community at the time of the tour but would recommend that families tour this community for the care and comfort.

A Place for Mom has scored King City Senior Village 8.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
