The staff has been great! The level of care and concern and help the office manager with dealing with long-term care insurance has been great! I'd give 5 on all categories except a 4 on cleanliness (at times the odor is strong but not always). The staff are always helpful, friendly, and kind...and so patient!... Read more
HomePlace Special Care at Burlington was built in 1998 in the heart of Skagit County. With it's unique home-like setting, HomePlace provides compassionate and skilled Alzheimer's and Dementia care to not only the memory care residents, but also their families and the employees who work with them. Well known for it's award winning SPARK program inspired by Montessori Methods, HomePlace focuses on engagement, social lifestyle and inclusion for each and every resident as an individual. This is done by incorporating physical and occupational therapy into everyday life by providing social roles and a sense of purpose.
Set within a neighborhood, HomePlace has four different living areas Chuckanut, Fairhaven, Rainier, and the Bungalo. Each set up like an open concept home with a kitchen and dining area opening up to a large communal living room and the resident rooms surrounding that. Medically trained care staff are within hearing or eye sight distance at all times.
Chuckanut, Fairhaven and Rainier have between six and nine total rooms within each home and have patios leading out a large open courtyard. The courtyard is a large secured space where residents and their families can enjoy the big open sky and community gardens.
The Bungalo with eight rooms...

Very nice facility, had a close knit community feel. Was impressed with how many long time employees work for Home Place says a lot about the management of Home Place. Residents were all active in community during my visit.

Working in the home health community as a clinician I have been to many communities in various states. Home Place stands out as evidenced by excellent staff interactions on all levels with both clients, outside vendors, residents. A palpable positive attitude and caring interaction with residents.

October 10, 2019Thank you for your kind review!
Best care facility I have ever delt with. My dad has been here for two months with advanced lewy bodies dimentia. The pod/community layout works great and the staff is fantastic.

The care my mom got while she was there was great. Mom loved the fact that even though she could not each much she always had her favorite cookie everyday. The caregivers are angels!

My father has only been in residence for about a month but so far he has adjusted very well and seems to really like where he is. This is a great change from others places he has been. The more consistent type of care for him individually has been most beneficial for him. After he has been there awhile longer I am sure the caregivers will know him better, likes, dislikes and have more information about him.

They do a great job at Home Place Special Care! They took great care of my loved one. The facility itself is very nice looking, well kept, and clean, and the staff are all very caring. Everyone here is very friendly and easy to work with. It was a good experience overall, and I would recommend them to others looking into care options.

My father has only been a resident for a short time. Overall I feel it is a nice facility for managing his dementia. The main reasons I chose Home Place Burlington was it's comfortable size and the lay out of the communities. There is good visibility for staff to know of any needs or concerns and it is very friendly to those with mobility issues. The value is consistent with like facilities, but in my opinion, all are a bit expensive for the services provided. The outside grounds are well kept. Some minor maintenance issues exist including the door into the main community needing to be jiggled a bit to open and without attention does not consistently close all the way posing a potential safety issue. It is one of the first impressions and hopefully will be adjusted. The staff has been fantastic at engaging my father in activities. The food is good, but not exceptional. At times the smell of urine has been strong in the community and other times no issue at all. The amount of closet space is very limited for the size of the room and in a shared room there is not a great way to separate personal items. The area is not air conditioned and on our more extreme days, fairly uncomfortable due to heat. The most important point though is my father seems the happiest he has been in some time.
