Review for Washington Commons by Barclay House

If you can afford it and elder needs little to no care (independent living) it may be worth looking at. They were the nicest for the least amount of money at the time and had the largest room (she wanted separate rooms I.e. 1bedroom)... Read more

A Nice Place to Live

My mom enjoys the meals, and I've enjoyed all the food I've tried as well. She enjoys the company of the people she gets along with. (You'll have people anywhere that you don't get along with.) The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They're very responsive to any issues. There are a lot of activities going on, and my mom is really enjoying herself.

A very nice place for people who can take full advantage of their services.

My loved one spent a limited time here due to her health issues. But I would certainly recommend them to someone who's well enough for the type of services that they provide. The staff seemed to be receptive to the needs of their residents. And the apartments were very nice. I liked the set-up and the fact that she had her own patio.

Friendly staff and happy residents

I had such a grand visit at Washington Commons about a month ago. [name removed] and the rest of the staff were very friendly and made sure I had everything that I needed. I was approached by several different residents of the community while visiting and each of them were super happy with big smiles on their faces. They told me how much they loved their community. Having happy staff and residents speaks volumes about what a Great Place Washington Commons really is.

Better than where I was

Every Tuesday they vacuum in my apartment and change the sheets and make the bed, clean the kitchen and bathrooms and replace toilet paper, towels, etc. They also have someone who comes to spray the apartments and the hallways for bugs frequently. The food is very good and they are chef prepared meals. They have a lot of activities provided here so there is always something to do such as a gardening club, pool table, library, exercises room, live music, etc. All of the staff members here are very friendly and helpful. Each floor has 2 washers and dryers for free to wash personal items. They also provide van rides Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, they take you to any appointments you may have and on Monday they take you to grocery stores and Fridays they take you to the bank. They provide residents with a fall alert button that you wear around your neck. I have a 1 bedroom apartment and I do have a patio as well. I have been really happy here and I would recommend to others looking.

Tour of Washington Commons

We toured Washing Commons and I think it is a great alternative to the facility that we chose. It was more affordable, very clean, and the people were all very friendly. It does not have quite the variety of care options than some others that we saw and it did not have the same homey feel, but I think it is a great place.

My review of Washington Commons

We chose Washington Commons because it was pretty convenient and from what I saw we thought it would be a good fit for her. It has been a great place and we have had a good experience so far. She does complain about the food and it could use improvement, they serve a lot of sandwiches and I think they need meals that are more nutritious. Overall, I would recommend them to others looking.

Great senior living!

We think this community has a great value for your money. What we really liked about this community was the location, it was very close to where we live. There is also a nice track around the community and even with COVID we are still able to take our loved ones out to walk around the track. When you walk the track on the backside of the building you walk through their garden, and the front is a normal sidewalk. The servers that bring the residents their meals are great, the house keeping lady is wonderful our loved ones love her. She is very quick and efficient. We really liked and appreciated the professionalism of the staff members. They are starting to bring back some of the activities they had before COVID.

My mother moved into Washington Commons. I really like it, and my mother really likes it. They serve three meals a day, and they're very timely with those meals because she's a diabetic and she has to eat her meals at certain times of the day. They have nice washers and dryers, they have a nice laundry room, it's clean, and there's no smell. The employees that work there are very friendly. The first day we moved her in the first thing they said to us was, "Make sure you wear your mask." They have a nice walk-in area too. They have a sidewalk that goes all the way around the building, and if you do one complete lap it's one mile. There's a lot of seniors that live there, the apartment she's in is not very big, but it's not very small. I like it.

Washington Commons is a fabulous place with a tremendous activities schedule. My daughter ate there, and she said it's fabulous how they take care of their guests. I would rate the staff a 5. A place is a place, but a home is a home, and the staff is what makes it not just a place but a home. They have all the facilities as well.

I would recommend this community to people who need less care and are more independent

We chose Washington Commons because of the convenience and the affordability. The apartment sizes are very nice and large. The food is pretty good, they had a 2 choice menu for each meal. Overall, I would recommend this community to people who need less care and are more independent.

The community is always clean and always presentable. The staff is always helpful and very friendly. We do think they could use more transportation for some of the off-community activities. The food is a bit mediocre. We do feel Washington Commons is a good value for the price.
