Staff was nice, but the 3 months she was there, there was a continual admin staff turnover. The food was NOT good. She lost weight while there and we had to bring her food. She understood about restrictive diets; however, there were NO options to season food for those who could do so. Food was served frozen in center also. A facility renovation was begun...carpets ripped up, paint, etc. But then abruptly stopped...found out the reno crew didn't have a permit! Floors were left bare...unsure for how long since she only stayed for her 3 month contract. Facility was still mid-reno when she left. 1 elevator in the entire facility. It went down for almost 48 hours. Folks on walkers and other mobility issues couldnt leave their floor. Those on the upper floors were served food in their rooms. Upon arrival, the a.c.in her room didnt work, nor did her room key. Took almost a week to get these fixed.

I rate all of them a 5. I love it here and have made many new friends including the office staff and the dining / Cleaning staff. They are all gracious, helpful, always there for anyone and never have a frown. My husband of nearly 50 years passed away in March and the condolences, hugs, and comments of their love for him made his death much more tolerable than it might have been. I'm blessed to be here and wouldn't think of going anywhere else, even though my 2 children offered their homes to me. Thankfully, they both live nearby so I can see them if/when I want. I would tell others to just ask all the questions you can think of. Quite often, folks move in and don't read all of the contract or aren't always updated on dining room details, housekeeping details, etc. I asked and felt well informed.

He knows it's a good place for him. He isn't always crazy about the food, but knows it is nutritious. He has a wonderful lady friend who lives there, and they are very happy. They met playing poker! Clean environment with nutritious meals. Friendly staff. I am glad my brother is pretty well satisfied there and knows it is a good fit for his needs.

My loved one is currently a resident at Holiday Washington Commons and everything has been great for her at this facility so far. The facility is very clean and they keep it that way. Housekeeping does a great job! The meals are very good and plentiful. The friendliness is great. The activities and value for cost are also great. I would recommend Holiday Washington Commons to others.

Overall, my mom's experience has been good. However, she is NOT happy with the meals at all. I and my brother have lunch with her there and I agree with her. The food is really bland and tasteless. It tastes like it was frozen and heated in a microwave. Lasagna was frozen in middle. Sandwiches are soggy. My mom. Has lost weight since she has been there. We bring her food to keep in her fridge.

My husband and I moved into Holiday Washington Commons two months ago and really love it. The staff has been very helpful. I made sure to ask a lot of questions before we moved here and that was helpful. Our "Cabin Steward" ( housekeeper) does a great job. His schedule for us is Tuesday around 10am and he is timely and does a thorough job of cleaning/vacuuming. The food is delicious, with four choices for each meal. The servers are very patient with us and it is clear that they love us. We are all like a large family. I would certainly recommend Holiday Washington Commons to others for consideration. It is for independent seniors, so it's important that the residents (and their families) understand that if help is needed it is available, but must be requested.

I toured Holiday Washington Commons. I highly recommend this facility and would have moved there, except for my family who were upset that I would not be in the midst of all of their homes. My grandchildren talked me into staying in my home and for now I am. However, when it gets to be too much, I will be moving to Holiday Washington Commons. Everything about this facility is great and this is where I would want to be!

Response from Holiday Washington Commons
July 11, 2023Thank you for sharing your positive experience! Please don't hesitate to reach back out for any more information!
I think Holiday Washington Commons is great. My loved one isn't crazy about it (no complaints about the facility itself - he would just prefer to live in a different location). But he's getting nourishing meals that he doesn't complain about, which is a big deal for him. His apartment is lovely. It's a 2-bedroom with all kinds of windows, and it's quiet. In my interactions with the staff, they couldn't be more friendly and helpful.
Read MoreThis facility is severely understaffed, so much so, that the same workers who are responsible for cleaning up trash and fecal material are the same workers serving food to residents moments later. They only have one maintenance worker; spread so thin he can’t possibly keep up with routine maintenance and repairs needed on outdated equipment simultaneously. They have a front desk but no front desk secretary; the phone just rings, nonstop. Washington Commons is suppose to be a residential retirement community but many of the residents obviously suffer from dementia and wander around soiled and clueless. They need assisted care by nurses and nursing assistants but those responsibilities are forced upon the housekeepers. This place should be investigated for this. The housekeepers are essentially restaurant workers/food handlers, nursing assistants, and janitors. This ship is sinking. I would personally recommend a state-run facility over Washington Commons in the state it is in now.

Response from Holiday Washington Commons
February 21, 2023Meredith, Thank you for raising these concerns and giving us a chance to respond. We take your concerns seriously. Each staff member is an essential part of our team, and we value their hard work in every area of our community to serve our residents. As an independent senior living community, our residents have the option of hiring third party caregivers should they need care services. If you know of a resident who needs additional help, please let us know so we can put them in touch with someone to provide that level of care. If you'd like to talk more, our General Manager is available to you, and I can also be reached at CustomerService@AtriaSeniorLiving.com.
My Mom really enjoys Holiday Washington Commons. She really loves the activities, bingo and the outings. Housekeeping arrives once a week and she is getting to know the staff that takes care of that portion. Speaking of staff, they are very helpful and friendly. I have talked to a number of staff members over the phone. There has only been one incident, during the Covid lock down. My Mom didn't receive community meals for 2-3 days, but she did have nourishment inside her apartment, so she was fine to eat her own food, but just loves the community meals! I made one phone call and spoke to a staff manager about that incident and they indicated that they would look into the matter and take care of it. My Mom and I think it is fully remedied and will not happen again. She often goes to dinner with friends on site for community meals and then once (or more) a month, they have a restaurant outing and she meets with her friends and joins the event. The community provide good meals for Mom, there was just that one incident with Covid. Mom seems to be happy with the value of the community for the cost. She doesn't complain about it and she is the one that pays the bills, but I can not speak first hand on that portion. Her voice is heard. Respected.

It's a good option. The place is a little bit dated and could use some work. But all in all, it's a good place and meets basic needs.

Brought my mom to tour and enjoyed ourselves so much. So impressed with the satff and facility that she will, now be a resident here.
The staff is very nice and do their best to be attentive. It's a pretty decent place. The meals I've had were tasty. My mom seems to enjoy it but has complained about a few things, some of which no one has any control over, mostly other occupants.
