The care has been OK for my father. There is a lot of staff turnover, which is a little alerting but overall, I think the quality has stayed the same. We picked them because of the cost and location.... Read more

New manager [name removed] has really improved this property significantly since the beginning of his tenure. This facility was like a ship without a rudder when the previous manager was split between this property and another. It went down hill quickly and many of the staff unmotivated. We are so pleased with his leadership and work ethic. Employees are working hard and things are improving. New flooring and AC long overdue but being implemented now...great!!

I toured with The Virginian and it was nice but it was not the right fit for my dad. I got a different vibe than I did at the facility that we ended up choosing. After they found out I chose another place, they wanted nothing to do with me.

September 13, 2021Hi, thank you for taking the time to rate and leave a review. Was there anything specific you saw on your tour that you think we could improve on? We're always working to offer the best possible experience for our residents and their family members, so any feedback you have is appreciated and taken seriously. If you have any further comments, you can reach out to feedback@holidayseniorliving.com. Thank you again.
Our family had an in person tour and it was much more welcoming then other we had toured, but it did not have all the same amenities.. However it was much more affordable. We decided against this one because our loved one was concerned with the size of the apartments and not having enough space for all of her belongings.

August 18, 2021Hi there, thank you for your review. While we may not have been the perfect fit for you at this time, we appreciate you taking the time to share this feedback!
We chose The Virginian because it was in my sisters neighborhood so she was used to the area, she knew some people who lived here and spoke highly of it, and she just liked it right off of the bat. The apartment sizes are on the smaller side, but we waited several weeks and we were able to get a little bit of a bigger one with a balcony and it seems to suit her needs. I would tell others that you really have to stay on the administrative staff to get answers from them so communication could use improvement, but everyone is very pleasant and happy. Overall I would recommend to others looking.

We appreciate you sharing this additional feedback, we will take this feedback and look for ways to improve. They are having issues with staffing, they seem to be very short staffed quite often and there are management changes going on. I would tell others to just look to make sure how long management has been in place when searching for other facilities.

We chose The Virginian because of the very friendly staff members. We are in one of the smaller apartments but they have a variety on different sizes depending on your needs. Communication is very good, they always keep us in the loop of what is happening or what is going to happen. I would recommend to others looking.

It was nice here. It was just more money than we could afford. We really liked that the apartments had patios, which gave you a little bit of individual outdoor space. But the rooms were smaller, and it was more expensive. Once you signed a contract, you were kind of locked in, with more money required upfront. I would rate quality at a 5, and expense at a 4.
Mom loves her apartment. The staff is wonderful. The extra services available include personal care, PT and OT. Even the food is good, plentiful and nutritional. Mom's mental and physical health has improved dramatically.

wasn't able to see the inside of a cottage, but the rest of the facility seemed pleasant. No washer/dryer in apartments. Residents seemed to be in their 80's and 90's.

We were given a very nice tour here and the staff did a great job with our tour showing us around and answering all our questions. In fact this would be a great community for anyone who is looking for independent livings.

I really like this community. This is a very elegant community, everything looked great. From what I saw everything was very nice and clean. The staff was kind and informative. My questions were answered, and it was a nice experience. Unfortunately this community was a bit expensive for our budget, but it is a very nice place.

A Place for Mom has scored Holiday Virginian 7.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
