My Dad is the one staying there the thing he voices the most is that he feels like the other residents aren't as active as he is. I guess that they have more mobility issues than he does so I don't know if there's a way to start like a thinking club or something like that

The community is great. The staff and residents are very welcoming, the transportation bus is extremely convenient for my dad's appointments, and the overall atmosphere is very nice when you walk in. I feel at peace knowing my dad is in a comfortable place.

Improving very day. But the community itself is wonderful!. People are smiling ,laughing and watching out for each other. I have been here 3 months and I call Haywood Estates HOME.

My Mom loves it there. Friendly people and [name removed] is great. So helpful. O’Neal does so much for the residents. The food is wonderful and Mom is gaining weight which she definitely needed after having a rough bout of pneumonia before moving in

Most all apartments have been renovated and I think are nice. Housekeeping is spotty and there's been a lot of turnover in administration. I think it's pretty steady now. My father was on 3rd floor at the end of the hall. He's moved to the first floor near lobby and loves it. They're improving activities, and the food isn't bad - just not really restaurant quality. They do have multiple choices. Haywood has an app that use to communicate events with residents and family members. I like that touch. It is is phenomenally better than [facility name removed] (where dad was).

We've had a lot of personnel issues but things seem to be settling down now. The residents are the biggest asset. Most people are very friendly. The food is good. The renovation has spruced things up, but it is still an older building. I do like my apartment layout. There are lots of different floor plans. We have on site therapy and home health.

Response from Holiday Haywood Estates
March 12, 2024Thank you for your kind compliments and feedback. Please email me at CustomerService@AtriaSeniorLiving.com with any further comments.
They tried to make things more friendly for residents, but all they did was make it worse. They want us to make friends, but replaced the furniture where residents could gather and chat with modern uncomfortable I've been here months and in that time experienced a complete turnover of staff with the caring ones replaced. The headstaff leaves early in the day and frequently absent on weekends. Food is mediocre. It would be nice if"corporate "would talk to residents instead of worrying about pictures on the walls and furniture and keeping staff

Response from Holiday Haywood Estates
November 22, 2023Your feedback is important us. I have shared your comments with the Regional Vice President, and she would be happy to discuss your concerns further. Please email your contact information to CustomerService@AtriaSeniorLiving.com and I will put you in touch.
Haywood Estates is lovely. They're in a transition right now. The manager is new, and there is a lot of turnover. The ones who have left seem to be the ones who paid the most attention to the residents. Some of the ones they have hired have been good, but it's getting much more rules based and rigid than it was when I first came here. Dining needs work but is improving. The dining room is not very clean - I don't believe they sweep the floors but once a week. The salt shakers are often empty. And they are out of many condiments (butter, jelly, cream, etc.) The activities are not challenging enough, and I'm not a fan of Bingo. The therapy department that has a clinic here is wonderful. The beauty shop is good. I like my apartment. It has worked out well, and I really like how quiet it is. Overall I do like it here.

I needed to move Mom to Greenville from another facility out of state, as she is 93 and I needed her closer to me. Haywood Estates in Greenville is not the facility that the previous one was, but I can indeed see that they are making great strides in improvement, as Haywood has a new administrator. Mom's apartment is really lovely and spacious, but the staffing has suffered since Covid, as with all facilities. Mom's biggest complaint is that the food is not up to the standard that she is accustomed to. Again, the new administrator is making wonderful changes, but the residents have no kitchens, so they have no option but to eat what is served to them in the dining room. I do know that the administrator is working on that. I have eaten there with her, and it is okay, but the menu is limited. That is the only real complaint the I've heard from her consistently. Also, the location of Haywood Estates is terrific. It is close to everything (mall, grocery, entertainment and senior action) and they do most things very well... just the food needs improvement. That is very fixable.

What stood out to me about this facility is the price, that was the biggest one for me. I think you get a good bit for your dollar but my loved one doesn't agree. I think overall, the staff is good. My loved one is not always happy with the food. There's been some confusion about his bill because they have new staff working, but overall I like them. I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

The interaction with the staff is really good. They do a lot of activities, such as; games, arts, crafts, social hour monthly, and pool. My loved one really enjoys the social hour. The value for the money is a lot better than the last facility. They offer three meals dailiy. The apartment is beautiful, and my loved one seems to be happier and more active.

I reached out to Haywood Estates looking for somewhere for my Dad. [name removed] was quick to respond with how Haywood could meet the needs and stepped right in to make him feel at home. My dad moved in [date removed] and the staff does care and makes and effort to address any concern that I have in a prompt manner. They offer many included and a-la carte amenities that you can pick and choose from with the care partners they have.

My loved one did not move in. They did not acknowledge when my loved one passed. They were misleading with the price. There was a huge turnover in staff. the residents seemed to be happy. It was clean. They are short staffed, and need new management. They were going through changes with the chef, so the food was not as good. They had a lot of activiites.

Response from Holiday Haywood Estates
February 14, 2023My sincere condolences to you and your family on the loss of your loved one. I appreciate you taking the time to tell us about your experience. I’ve shared your feedback with the General Manager and Regional Vice President and we’d like to learn more about how we could have better served you and your family. You can email us at CustomerService@AtriaSeniorLiving.com.
Holiday Haywood Estates was fine - it just wasn't a good fit for my loved one, who needed more care than they could offer. The apartment was great. And so were the staff, although they were short-staffed like everybody else, and things didn't always happen right when you thought they would. The food was good. Know that they have staff there during the day, but not during the night. We had an emergency occur in the night, and I just wish they could have had staffing at night.
My mothers transition into this community was rather strange. She moved in over a holiday weekend, and did not receive a welcome, any information regarding the community (meal times, who to call, etc) or a tour of the facility. We had to figure it all out on our own. Amenities which were listed in the lease contract as included were not received (weekly housekeeping, Wi-Fi, cable tv). Although the one meal I was present for was very good, my mother has voiced the food quality has decreased significantly. This includes running out of food, using paper plates and plastic utensils, sitting down to used napkins and dirty tables. The care she received from the physical therapist, and the nurse practitioner on site was very good. The interactions I've had with the staff have been very good as well. But it is very apparent they are severely understaffed and cannot meet the needs of the community. I can see how this would be a lovely, thriving community if fully and adequately staffed.

A Place for Mom has scored Holiday Haywood Estates 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
