This has been my first experience living in a senior living community. I have been here almost 6 months. All the current staff is very friendly. There have been many changes and a very big turnover in staff, including management, sale including management, sale, activities, maintenances, chefs, wait staff and housekeeping. I am seeing improvements starting to take place and it does feel encouraging. My hope is that the future here, with new staff, will just continue to have more improvements which in turn would allow higher scores for survey.... Read more

My experience over the past year has been very positive. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and the residents are warm and welcoming. The facility has been recently updated and they did a good job. The food continues to exceed expectation.

[name removed] the GM is extremely rude to both employees and residents. My mother went to talk to her about the black mold in her apt. Her door was open as I stood off to the side, [name removed] didn't know I was listening. She started yelling at my mother. I stepped around the corner and said she would never yell like that to my mother again. We moved out the next month. Many other residents moved out as well. She's a mean, nasty women and has no business working with the senior population!

The staff truly cares about the residents. The residents are treated with respect and understanding. The place is a hone for the residents, not someplace their families stash them out of the way. The residents love it there.

The staff at Holiday Garden Village are super friendly and caring. The housekeeping is sometimes good, but sometimes inconsistent. It could be better. Communication with the family is minimal, unless initiated by the family. Communication with the residents is good, though. The move in process was great. The meals are good most of the time. I would recommend Holiday Garden Village to others.

I'm pleased to see that the renovation efforts are now expanding beyond public spaces to the individual apartments. There is great variety in activities and entertainment for those who wish to join. All staff are very respectful and cheerful. They do their best to make it a great place to live. There were some hiccups early on but, other than being short-staffed and meals lacking appeal (to my mother), I would recommend this facility to others.

Underwhamming is the best way to discuss the situation with us. The place is undergoing a renovation and some staff changes which have been frustrating or inconvenient. Meals need immediate improvement, pest/bugs must be sprayed for, and the pet smell is bad. Finally, the building smells of smoking and it is suppose to be smoke free inside. Cost is too high and rising... Too many wheelchair residents for elevators and dinning space; chairs are moved into walkway, interfering with meal delivery or freely moving...

I'd say it can be a great place & maybe they will turn it around with the remodel. Right now I have experienced seeing them struggle with staffing, meal quality is hit & miss, getting a maintenance requests filled are lengthy if they happen at all (done correctly). I would also let my friend know that they should pay close attention when it is time to sign a lease. For instance, they cut me a move-in deal and I was VERY clear on what it was. However, they tried to get an additional $[removed] out of me at time of payment.

[name removed] was there for only 1 night because when she arrived she was not given a life alert and consequently spent 11 hours in her recliner in her bodily waste (Per the brochure an alert button is included) Her phone had fallen under her recliner and she was unable to call for assistance. Upon this discovery the next morning, she was taken to my home until we found another placement. She never returned to that facility. We paid 1 month rent but not reimbursed any of the community fee. I get paying the month rent because she did move in but feel that the community fee should have been reimbursed for her 12 hour occupancy! I had also expressed participation with the medical program offered and never heard from anyone and feel that had they met with me prior to her arrival so I could set up a plan of care she may not have experienced the situation for so long.

Friendly staff. Always address any problems we've had promptly. Great activities! Areas for improvement: The outside around the back where the dumpsters are are absolutely overflowing. Almost always and the grounds as far as landscaping aren't kept like the front. The stairwells and general housekeeping in common areas on the second floor need addressed as well. They raised rent first of the year saying due to increased food prices. The food at that point got even worse.

Response from Holiday Garden Village
July 10, 2023At Holiday Garden Village, the feedback of our families and residents is important to us. Thank you for sharing your positive experience!
What stood out to me about this facility is affordability and it's a facility where I thought my mom would be comfortable (not too fancy). Staff is very friendly as are other residents. Before the move in they were very accommodating to making changes for her (changed the swing of the bathroom door to make accessing the shower and toilet easier.) It did take over a week for Mom to get her welcome materials as we moved her in on a weekend. They offer a variety of activities and special events. Housekeeping is provided as well as changing sheets. Mom has no complaints about the quality of cleaning. I would recommend this facility to friends and family.

I would highly recommend Garden Village to others for their loved ones. The overall community and the friendliness of the residents, plus the activities have made this a great place for my loved one. The staff are pretty helpful if we have questions or concerns. There are time maintenance is a little slow in fixing items around the community and my loved one's room; however, they will fix it eventually. The community provides all three meals for the residents. The residents do have a choice of entrees to choose from. The room, linen changes and laundry, housekeeping, maintenance, all the meals, and utilities are included in the monthly rate for my loved one. Some of the activities available are movie nights, ice cream socials, bingo, and more for the residents to choose from

Garden Village is an older facility but it looks very nice and well kept. We have the second biggest apartment for mom and she loves it and is happy. The staff that they do have are great but the issue is they do not have enough of them so sometimes that can cause an issue. There is plenty of parking and it is on a dead end so there is not a lot of traffic around. The setting is back in the trees and there is a pond with geese so the outside aesthetics are great. I would recommend to others.

I would recommend it.
I have told several people about it. I have told people If I needed a place, I would go here. They are close to us. The location is perfect between us and my adult children to visit and it's not too far for all of us to go visit her anytime we need.

A Place for Mom has scored Holiday Garden Village 8.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
