The staff (CNA) that I have met are extremely nice, friendly and caring. [name removed] has been very unhappy with the food. When I ask [name removed] about the food, she always says it's not good. She won't give me explicit details. I've given her salt, pepper, mustard etc. She has stated that when they have hotdogs it's plain with small amount of chips and nothing else.... Read more

This community is very clean and the staff have been very friendly and helpful! They do offer a variety of really nice activities. We really like the layout of our loved ones room, there is a small area for a living room, a kitchen, and a bedroom.

We chose Hitchcock Place because of the level of care that they provided, it was higher than some others we looked into. The room sizes are very good. The meals are chef prepared and residents get a menu, but there is not a large selection. Overall everything is going good and we would recommend to others looking.

The community has an RN on staff. The way the community is laid out makes it easy for the residents to find their rooms and dining room. I don't feel there is enough stimulating activates for residents. My loved one says the food is horrendous.

We were very satisfied with our experience at Hitchcock place. We chose the facility because of the fact that they have an RN on staff there full time and they had availability when we we needed it. The room sizes here were good for what he needed. Their RN went above and beyond trying to assist with our father and I would recommend them to other families.

We chose Hitchcock Place because at the time, they had availability, they were very accommodating, and it was a clean and nice facility. My mothers room was reasonable, she was in a studio and she was comfortable. My favorite part about community was the level of nursing care they have here, they have an RN on staff which was helpful. I would want others to know that they will also take residents with a lower cognitive level as well. I would recommend.

Hitchcock is NOT a place I would want for anyone I cared for. I put my father there at the end of March because of Covid, I made a hasty decision. In the beginning they were very inviting and informative. My father was there 6 months. And in that time he was sent to ER twice for “dementia behaviors” . So he sat in a flex unit in the ER for 10-12 hours, for an accessor to tell us he was fine to go back. It was situational, and his behavior was just not addressed by competent people that knew anything about dementia or Alzheimer’s. He was sent to a psychiatric ward by the parent company, Enlivant, even after the psychiatrist sent my father back to facility. He endures 10 days of new medications that shut his body down. He ended up on the medical side of the psychiatric facility because he was “not getting better”. Meanwhile I’m still not allowed to see him, or talk to him to assure him that I’m trying to get him home. Or even let him know what is going on!!! Finally after finding a tumor on his kidney, I get hospice involved to get my dad back to Hitchcock. He now is wearing a diaper, wheelchair and being fed by an assistant. When he returns he makes a full recovery (after the meds the psychiatric ward gave him are out of system) and starts walking, eating, and using bathroom. I’m still on allowed visits at a window in front of the Hitchcock facility between 9-5pm. Now our monthly bill has gone from $4000 to $4900. Even with hospice coming twice a week to help shower and take vitals. They quit cutting his hair and shaving his face. My dad would plead at the window to get him out of there. And I did. When I moved him out, they never once helped me nor even spoke to me. The room was disgusting, smelled like urine. And there was a cart with close to 5 loads of his clothes in the middle of his room. It looks like once they knew he was leaving, they washed everything that was piled in his room. Because I could see in his window anymore, they shut the blinds 3 months ago. My dad went through two pair of hearing aids, and 4 pairs of prescription glasses. I’m scared to think of how he was treated there because they knew we couldn’t come in to see how he was doing. And how they’re doing with their promises that they say to get you to come to them. I pray that they get the help to educate their med techs to properly communicate with their residents. I pray that the director learns how to communicate with the family that trusts them to put their loved one there. I reached out to the director via email, texts, phone calls, and in person. He would state he wasn’t there , or to talk to [name removed], the nurse. [name removed] is the only reason I tolerated some of this behavior. But, it takes a TEAM to work a assisted living. And that’s what they sold me on day one of brining him there. Now I know, at the expense of my fathers health and well being, that is was a lie.

[Name removed] was very attentive and informative. Everyone at the facility was very friendly. This was our first experience and didn’t really know what we were looking for yet. My Mom believe she is not ready to give up cooking yet, so we need to research independent living. This might be an option for her later.

My sister is a resident here and we have been to several facilities in aiken. This is the most well managed we’ve encountered. The staff is by far the most caring group of people.

I actually really enjoyed my tour of this community and this place would have been our first choice if it was not for how expensive everything was, I was a little surprised at there pricing considering there sister property offered everything the same and was cheaper.

Our tour of the Hitchcock Place went lovely. It was the newest building we toured, very clean and well maintained. The tour guide gave us cookies and a beverage during our visit which was very nice. The staff was amazing.

Overall I think they do a good job at Hitchcock Place. I think they could have been a little more straightforward about the up front move-in fee, it came as somewhat of an unpleasant surprise. However now that that is in the past it has been a very pleasant experience. The facility is clean and well kept, and the staff are friendly.

I don't get the chance to visit often myself, but from what I have heard things are going well for my loved ones at Hitchcock Place, I haven't heard any big complaints. When I visited it seemed like a very nice, clean community, and the people were all very friendly.

A Place for Mom has scored Hitchcock Square 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
