Overall our families experience has been great, when we come to visit all of the staff members have been great. The cleanliness of the community is amazing we are very very impressed. As far as we know the meals and dining service is very good, our loved one seems to really enjoy the food. The activities are still somewhat limited, but things are opening back up. We did have an issues in the beginning, somehow they had missed that our loved one needs insulin shots and it was missed for a couple of weeks. However that is now fixed and they are completely on top of everything.... Read more

We had a very good tour at Heritage Woods. We had to go with another facility because they did not offer memory care here and that is what we were needing.

We had some cleanliness issues in my loved ones' room. Housekeeping only showed up occasionally to clean, and things tended to pile up. The common spaces in the facility were fine, but my in-laws were kind of on their own in their living space. The people there were nice, in my limited experience. Most of my interaction with them was over the phone. But mostly the nurses were great. They were friendly and tried to get things done. There was one real stinker there, but the director addressed that for us. The director was very sweet and very nice, but we felt she was overworked. She just had a big job and not enough help. There was a high turnover, especially with the nurses. The director wanted to keep my loved ones there after they were hospitalized, and we agreed. But in the end, she could not provide everything they needed care-wise. I think it was just overwhelming for her. But she was very good. The lady at the front desk was very friendly. They did a lot to keep Covid out. There were some good things, and the people were great, but overall it was a disappointing experience. It was a very high cost out of pocket, and they couldn't provide the assistance that we wanted or needed. I think it would be a great place if you have plenty of money (although they do transition to Medicaid), and if you don't need a lot of care and are pretty self-sufficient. They brought meals to my 90-yr-old loved one in a styrofoam container and expected him to be able to serve it to his wife. They'll deliver your pills and make sure you have those on time, but its a lot to pay for that. They were very slow in responding to requests, including responding to the call buttons the residents wore around their necks. I think it's because they've overworked there. It's a hard job, I know. But still, we expected more. My loved ones were not really impressed with the food there, and there weren't really activities due to the pandemic. I hesitate to give them a bad rap if your loved one just needs a little help with medication and is otherwise active and able. I just don't think this was the right place for my loved ones from the beginning. At first Heritage Woods was hesitant to take them, and eventually they said okay we'll try. I just wish things had worked out better. It's not a bad place, so I'd recommend it for self-sufficient seniors. It's a beautiful place, inside and outside. It was very appealing to the eye. I just wish things had turned out differently.

We chose Heritage Woods of Manteno because it was a lot nicer than the others options we were looking into. The room sizes here are sufficient for her needs. She has had no complaints about the food that they serve. For most of her stay here she has lock down so we haven't gotten to experience everything but overall I would still recommend.

This facility has a very long waiting list and it took my brother 8 months to get in. I like that this place is close to me and that it is state run. I will be able to keep him here when his money runs out and they use your social security checks as payments. The facility is very well kept and the people who run it are good. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the nurses are nice. I do, however, occasionally run into one or two employees that aren't accustomed to working with older people. The food seems fine and they have a lot of activities to participate in. I would recommend this community to other families.

Everything is working out pretty well for my mother here at this community. They have a good staff here, they are caring for my mother very well. The community is very well maintained. There are activities offered for the residents. She is pleased with the meals. but she isn't crazy about the seating arrangements. I know she is in good hands and being cared for well. She is doing good here and I would recommend it.

Seem to be a very caring staff. Only have seen one that I felt should not be there. I live in California but my brother lives 2miles away so he is there quite often. Seem to be quick to try and help remedy concerns.

Nice place. Dining room very nice, eating schedules for Lunch and Dinner. Laundry facilities for residents, or can be done for residents. Rooms are nice. Reading room with book shelves, game area featuring Wii. Activities rooms for cards, puzzles, whatever. Resident must monitor own sugar levels. Injections are responsibility of resident. Medicines can be dispensed. After description of potential resident, advised that perhaps assisted living would not be appropriate. Maybe at another time. Didn't see much interaction between residents and employees. What I did see looked a little phony. Director led tour.
