My mother is getting very good care from the aids in her villa. The aids are caring, helpful, friendly and a delight to deal with. Stay in touch with them for any info/care needs, and it is affordable for her. The middle/upper administration, however, is very poor at providing important information to the family. Middle management seems to turn over rather regularly at about 2 times each year during the time my mother has been there - making it difficult to keep track of who to contact for information. For example, my mother's villa got bed bugs, but I did not know about it for over 2 weeks. In that time, they threw away all the furniture in her room (thinking it was theirs instead of what we provided) including her grandmother's barrel-back chair. I contacted one manager, and after waiting weeks, found out they left the company and had to discover who was doing that job now. I finally had to contact the Ohio Ombudsman to get any type of settlement for our lost furniture.... Read more

The staff were not qualified and often rude. They spent most of their time on the phone. Room never cleaned, linens never changed. Made multiple medication errors with my mother and when brought to their attention they didn't care. My mom had Covid when she was there. They did not follow any protocol for Covid and staff were not informed of the situation. They also did not give my mom paxlovid as prescribed. It was a terrible experience.

Other comments: Any activities they have are directed at their fully functioning population. No one seems to be trained on dementia or Alzheimer's but most are kind. I have issues with one caretaker who I have heard raise her voice to my mom. The director and nurse are slow to respond if I call and I have called less than ten times. They have a table in the entry way made of glass and mirrors with sharp points all over. I have said something more than once but to no avail. It will be ugly when someone falls into it. Most of the people are great. No one is abused or even ignored. I used to be my mom's caretaker so I might be expecting too much.

There have been a lot of problems... many things going missing...medication not administered properly...not able to accommodate dietary needs...rooms not cleaned.......Now that there is new ownership / management, things are starting to improve... Hopefully it will continue to get better.

I feel that my 95 year mother with a past hx. of stroke, STEMII, guinne burre syndrome is very well taken care of at Heritage Villas allowing me to feel comfortable leaving her at this facility. Anytime I visit she is clean, her room is clean, she's well cared for & has no complaints. She seems in good spirits & The caregivers & other residents are all friendly & very accomodating. They have so many wonderful activities , trips & other fun things to keep them occupied - its quite impressive! They always make sure they include my mom as she tends to be shy at times & needs much encouragement to blend in & adapt to new games & activities. They are all patient with her & go the extra mile to make her happy & feel at ease. And Thanks to everyone for your smiles & kindness.

Staffing issues were a problem. I realize that's not an isolated issue, and a lot of businesses are also dealing with this. But it becomes a concern if you feel a relative's care could be compromised.

They are under new management and they are improving. The house does not have the smell facilities get. My loved one will sit at the kitchen table and read the newspaper like they did at home but only when the daily caretaker makes an effort to bring my loved one out of the room. That's is what they do poorly to have consistency in daily caretakers. Some ignore my loved one even to the point of them being in their depends too long while others make an effort to get my loved one out of the bedroom. For the price the private room and private bath is a great deal.

They need new management. The place is terribly managed. We liked the idea of the villas, and it sounded like a great place. After a few weeks, my loved ones linen on the bed was never changed, the food was often frozen, and was never a homecooked meal. The staff lacked training, and were unproffesional with how they dressed, and interacted. In addition, my loved one was not getting their medication. There was a staff member who was extremely rude, and lacked respect.

The concept of the villas is a great idea, providing a small home-like environment with no more than 12 residents per villa. We thought it would be perfect for our mother and moved her there in September. It was okay for the first two weeks but then we began to have concerns about her care. Linens on the bed were to be changed each week and that never happened. The room was rarely cleaned and the food was not good - mainly frozen food or cold sandwiches. However, these are minor issues compared to our main concern which was safety. The staff are aids with little to no training. While some are fairly good, many created an unsafe environment. They are to give medications to the residents but there were numerous medications errors for my mother. One aid played rap music while working and ignored the residents. Residents were left alone for at least an hour when the day shift aid was late but the night shift just left. These are only a few of the issues.

Heritage Villas is very affordable compared to all of the other nursing homes that I looked at in North East Ohio. We have had a great experience here and I feel lucky to have found them. The staff do a great job even with their hands full. I would highly, highly recommend this facility to other families.

We have had nothing but a pleasant experience so far with Heritage Villas, we love the ability of being able to visit anytime we want and overall we are very satisfied. The staff members are great and our loved one is very happy with the meals and dining service he says the food is excellent. Based on our experience so far with Heritage Villas we would most definitely recommend them to other families

We toured this facility and Immediately knew this was the place for my Mom and Dad. We moved them in the same week. We go and check on them daily and they are always happy and really enjoy the food.

When our family member was diagnosed with Dementia 2 years ago, Heritage Villas was all she could afford. At that time it was clean and seemed to be a good match for her. But over the past 2 years it’s deteriorated quite a bit. When she refused to change her clothes or bathe, they said it was her right. It was apparent to us that they didn’t know how to help her. Her room was no longer being cleaned. She didn’t change her clothes at night and slept on top of her bedspread. We eventually moved her to another facility where she’s doing much better.

Heritage Villas is a very safe and nice environment. They have handled the Covid virus very well. They are very good with communication and good follow up. Mom has complained about the food. Rooms sizes are large. Very nice, and kind people. Definitely would recommend it. We are lucky and happy she got in when she did.

Response from Heritage Villas
May 11, 2020Thank you so much for your kind review. It warms our hearts to hear that you are pleased with your choice of Heritage Villas for you mom.
Very friendly staff! The facility is much smaller (several stand alone units) than the others I toured. Not as luxurious either. But, for mom’s 1 week stay, adequate enough. It has a ‘home’ feel ipo an institution/facility.

I had a nice tour of this community. Everything went well, and they were very kind to us. Everything I saw was nice. The community was nice and clean. It was a pleasant tour, but it was not the place for my father and his needs.

My husband and I have been searching for an assisted living facility for his mother. We decided to stop and tour Heritage Villas on our way to take care of some other errands. We stopped by, unannounced and we were promptly met at the door by a sweet woman, Peggy. Peggy happened to be a caregiver. She immediately notified someone that we were in the building. We were then introduced to Lisa and Theresa. Lisa introduced herself and invited both of us to a conference room to discuss our needs. Peggy got us both a cup of hot coffee! We really felt at home! We spent some time with Lisa learning about the facility. She was then offered us a tour of the facility. We were so impressed by the professionalism of everyone we encountered. We really enjoyed speaking with each caregiver in the house. After touring, we returned to the conference room and went over a few additional questions that my husband had. Theresa, the social worker, also dropped in and ask what we thought of the place. We were so pleased! We felt really positive after leaving and look forward to bringing mom to tour!

We liked it here because the set up is different. Instead of having separate apartments, they have rooms, and a shared dining, and living room area. There are only about 13 residents here. It's very clean. My loved one doesn't complain about the food, and I have never tried it, but they did just get a new chef.

A Place for Mom has scored Heritage Villas 6.3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
