Having my Mom go into memory care was never going to be easy. Heritage Green and the people there have done so much to make it a good as it can be. I actually tried three other places before arriving at Heritage Green. It’s the only place I found where everyone knew my Mom’s name, exactly where she was at all times, and how she was doing. I really can’t say enough about the care and great business practices at Heritage Green. I wish we had started here.... Read more

The staff has been very accommodating and easy to work with both before and after admission. I know everyone is busy, but I sometimes wish I could get more feedback and confirmation on requests that I have made.

We moved my father into the memory care unit a little over a year ago. They took very good care of him until he passed the Saturday after Thanksgiving. In March/April it had become clear that my Mom was not going to be able to remain at home alone, and she moved into the Assisted Living wing. Mom liked the AL and settled there, but in the fall she caught COVID for the first time, which exacerbated her dementia. At the staff's recommendation, we moved her into Memory Care. She couldn't move in with Dad because by then he was mostly uncommunicative, so she went to a different wing. She's done very well there and has settled in. The place is quite clean and the staff friendly and caring. The food is excellent, and whenever we've visited the residents are all up and dressed, clean and groomed. I would highly recommend it.

Overall Heritage Green and Daybreak community has been overall good, however they need better communication with updates on patrons to family. Our mother has Alzheimer's, and we would like to have regular her condition. Heritage Green is Overall, a good community for your loved one if you find that you need a place to know they are safe if home is not an option.

Response from Heritage Green and Daybreak
January 9, 2024Thank you so much for your review and your kind words about the care your mom is receiving at Heritage Green. Please reach out to our Executive Director or Resident Care Director if you would like more frequent updates. Most of the time, no news is good news, but our goal is to ensure that we are communicating with you in a way that makes you feel confident in her care.
Very home like atmosphere. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The residents seemed genuinely happy. There was a party and live entertainment when I visited. I love the location of the facility as well.

Heritage Green Memory Care was a wonderful place for my dad. My dad was a high fall risk. He had a rare disease that brought on dementia and the loss of mobility within a week of each other. He would forget that he could not walk, try to stand up from his wheelchair or bed, and then fall. The staff at Heritage Green worked tirelessly to keep an eye on my dad to help prevent falls. His care staff were always on their feet, assisting the residents. The med tech would even take my dad around with her as she passed out medicine so that she could make sure he was safe. I have even witnessed the cleaning staff, therapy staff and marketing staff, sitting with and taking care of patients. The facility is set up much like a daycare center. The residents spend their day together in a common room with the staff. The activities director provides group and individual activities for the residents, which they all seem to enjoy. The staff are friendly and helpful. The residents seem happy when interacting with the staff, which is a testament to how they are treated. The staff also was incredibly supportive to me and they were very accessible at all times. They would call me often with updates. I highly recommend Heritage Green!

I've visited the facility several times and each time I was impressed with how nice the staff was and very customer-focused. Great first impressions! A needed option in the Lynchburg area. Easy access location.

The staff members that work at Heritage Green are very caring and the community itself is very clean as well as the surrounding grounds. It has a smaller community feeling to it, there are daily activities and good communications. Having Memory Care available if needed is a real plus

The food is lacking in my opinion. Menu for dinner some days is a cold sandwich without a hot side or soup. I have asked to meet with FSD to discuss menu. Also service for meals is not up to par for the rate paid. Expected servers in uniform and meals served on China ( not paper products). No linen tablecloths or linen napkins. Staff- [name removed] and [name removed] are both great. Very attentive to my Moms care. They keep me informed and listen when my mom has needed something. [name removed] is very friendly and has addressed any concerns I've had Doctor [name removed] is the physician and he has done a great job managing Moms fluid retention and hypertension. Overall I am very pleased. Mom is in Assisted Living. Not in memory care-not needed.

This facility goes out of its way to make each person feel at home. The grounds and buildings are beautiful and the team there is top notch. I would definitely have peace of mind knowing my loved one was living here being so well cared for and loved.

The staff are all very professional, but also very kind and patient. The residents in the Memory Care unit are always dressed and groomed and clean. In the Assisted Living unit, the rooms are large enough to feel quite homey. There's a certain amount of institutional feel in the Memory Care unit that is unavoidable given the needs of the residents, but it never feels overly clinical or cold. I would definitely recommend the facility to others. It's smaller, but the staff are very good and the whole place feels very clean and inviting.

We did not like Heritage Green for a coupe of reasons. It was not as clean as the other places, including a wheelchair sitting outside in the rain. Were were told that we could take pictures of the residents and "they wouldn't mind", this seems very rude and dismissive of client rights to me. There was a plate of food sitting on a table in the dining room (after lunch), we asked about it and was told the person probably had an appointment and would eat it later.
Response from Heritage Green and Daybreak
March 10, 2023We are sorry that you didn't have a great first impression. That is always our goal. Please know that we do take residents rights seriously and know which residents have asked to not be photographed. Please reach out to us with any further comments or questions. We would love a second chance to demonstrate our commitment to our residents if you'd consider another visit!
I wouldn't recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The community could improve activities, food, and staffing. The staff communication was proactively done by the family and it would have been nice to have the staff do this more.

Response from Heritage Green and Daybreak
February 13, 2023Our team understands the great responsibility of caring for the residents who choose to make Heritage Green ‘home.’ Both the Executive Director and Regional Director of Operations are available to talk with families. We appreciate you reaching out proactively and want to understand what communication you want and/or need from our team. We are always open to making improvements and want residents and families to be satisfied - if not raving fans - about our events and dining experience.
The Sales Manager was great! There was an odor and more than we wanted to spend.
Response from Heritage Green and Daybreak
December 7, 2022Thank you so much for visiting Heritage Green. I am sorry that you caught us at an “inopportune” time. There are situations where an odor is almost unavoidable, but I promise you it is not the norm. We hope you’ll revisit and give us another chance to demonstrate how our team, care and programming make Heritage Green a value!
