Heathwood Assisted Living at Penfield

I would give Heathwood a 4. There have been some instances of poor communication. The facility is spotless! Staff are always friendly and approachable, from maintenance to administration I have had numerous discussions with administrators regarding mom's lack of hygiene. I know they can't force her to shower, but there are techniques to get residents to shower, and I don't believe they use them. Always lovely meals with many options. I can't comment on activities, as mom refuses to participate. I have noted, however, that the monthly calendars have quite a variety of offerings. It is affordable but still offers many amenities . I never smell urine, no trash is visible, no spills, the landscaping is lovely and well kept, and no trash in parking lots. Friendly staff...everyone meets your eye and says hello. They extend themselves. Mom misplaced her keys, and within 15 minutes a new set was made and tried to be sure they worked.

Overall we have been happy and so has my mom. Her experience has been very positive - she has a lot of friends there and the staff, for the most part have been great.

Generally speaking, the staff are fine. The rooms are very nice. The clientele are sweet. My only complaint is that the nursing and aide staff could be more attentive, but I believe that is true in most locations. Communication with all staff is sometimes lacking.

What our family likes the most about the Heathwood Assisted Living at Penfield is the friendly and helpful staff are great. There are loads of activities available every day, though my mom hasn't really taken advantage of many of them

You will not find a community more welcoming than Heatherwood. The staff are so helpful and friendly. The residents are also very nice, I never want to leave when I am visiting. I highly recommend Heatherwood to seniors looking for options.

I'm very comfortable having my parents there, it is the right place for them. Great staff and they have a family forum quarterly to provide updates and get feedback, and have unique activities for the residents as well. I think that the room sizes are fine, although my parents will never be satisfied. Sometimes there are issues with laundry and getting the room cleaned and they ask me to help with things I believe I'm paying them for, but overall it has been pretty good.

While Heathwood is not perfect and you do need to give it some time to learn the various processes etc., my mom has settled in well and is happy there. And it's great for us daughters too and gives us a lot of relief.

We have had a great experience at Heathwood - would recommend it to other families. Staff has been great and friendly, and above all, empathetic and willing to listen to family.

Heathwood Assisted Living is a good place, and my mother has done very well there. She likes the food, people and activities, and her apartment.

The staff members have been very communicative with us regarding anything that happens to our loved ones so we are very appreciative. Our loved ones have a very nice two bedroom apartment and we are very grateful for finding this community it has been the best place for them. Overall the meals are good, sometimes our father does not care for a few items but they do offer different options. They have a ton of different activities - grandparents day, football parties, inhouse activities and day trips. There is a movie theater where they can watch shows.

We went with Heathwoood because it was the closest to where my mother lived so she was familiar in the area and so others could visit her easily. It also had the necessities that she needed at the time as far as the care goes. They have a ton of things for the residents to do. They have a movie theatre, a library, exercise classes, creative writing classes, etc. The doctor who evaluated her here found out she did not need some medications that she was on which was great. The PT and OT have both been wonderful and have helped her so much. I would absolutely recommend the facility to others who are looking.

My loved one was there for a short time and then needed a higher level of care. I just wish I had known about Heathwood a little sooner so we could have benefited from them longer. They offered him more space and it was a nicer facility than he was in before. The staff were pretty good as well.

Very pleasant staff. Enjoyed my tour and would absolutely put my father here.
