She was very well cared for at Heather Heights and I would highly recommend it to someone in the future. They were very good, not perfect always but no place is these days. They were very good to her even at the end. My only constructive criticism would be that they need to have more programs that give the residence a chance to get out. Hopefully things are better now that Covid restrictions are lifted. Highly recommend for person who needs more than assisted living without memory care. My mother ended up at Heather Heights because she had a catheter and the assisted-living place she was in before, wouldn't take her back with a catheter that she got while in the emergency room. It was extremely difficult making the move with my mother again to another assisted living facility for this reason alone. Thankfully my mother was very happy at Heather Heights. Also, I was there every day so I knew the facility and the people and what was going on daily very well.... Read more

It was excellent proximity to me and our family members, and it was worth the short stay. My experience there was warm and welcoming. I know that changes were in the process and if the same administration is there concerns were taken care of the facility had beautiful grounds caring care. There was church, and concerts. Otherwise, tv was the entertainment. I believe things changed since my family member was there. Meals (dinner) often served cool. If he didn't like something, he could ask for a sandwich. Not enough fresh fruit or salads were served.

My mother needed more care than what was made available. Their mental health was ignored and it was a very traumatic experience for them to leave their home and try to adapt to assisted living. It may be an ok placement for relatively capable people, but didn't provide the support or safety that my parents needed.

Communication with family is excellent, they try not to have any surprises. Staff is competent - but turnover seems to be higher with respect to the previous place my Mom was a resident. The move in process was excellent. The meal quality is okay - my Mom is in Memory Care, so this is a secondary concern. I would recommend this facility to others.

This has been a very big change in our lives especially my mom. Unfortunately she thinks all these places are the same. The staff are not held accountable to do their jobs properly or well. They are often rude and seem out out to help mom with her needs. They throw her clothes on the floor rather than putting them in the laundry bag provided. The food is advertised as delish and fresh- it's far from. It's often chewy, covered in gravy- hardly fresh. The upper management is mediocre- which may explain the aids attitudes. With the exception of a select few- the staff are not that nice and appear lazy at work. This place is very very expensive and it blows my mind at the quality of care. We are considering moving

It was an overall good experience! At the end when my dad transitioned to hospice care (staying in the same room) the staff was absolutely wonderful. I would highly recommend them for elderly care.I picked Heather heights because it was clean, friendly atmosphere had the nursing care that my dad needed.

I loved Heather Heights of Pittsford. I wish she could've stayed there longer, but unfortunately, she needed a higher level of care. I have nothing but the highest compliments for them! Based on the experience we have had so far, we would absolutely recommend this community to other families.

Heather Heights is a great place for people who are more independent with well established hobbies and interests. In our case it did not work out because of a greater medical needs that Heather Heights could not provide and support.

The Heather Heights community is very clean, the rooms are very clean and it is just a lovely place. Every time we come to visit, the residents are always kept clean. The workers who have been there for years are absolutely excellent. They just hired a new rep therapist on the memory care side so we expect the activities may change. Right now they take the residents on the bus once a week which they loved - there are balloon exercises, ice cream socials, so we do think they are trying their best. The main dining room on the assisted living side is right when you walk in - they are truly blessed to have that staff working there. So pleasant, polite, and amazing. The value at the end of the day is completely worth it.

I would tell them not to send a loved one here honestly. It wasn't a good experience from the start. Heather Heights can improve on hiring friendlier staff who actually want to help the elderly.

This was a nice community with nice staff. There was another community that responded to our request sooner, and we were on a timeline.
This is a lovely facility with many wonderful staff and activities. However, if your loved one needs enhanced physical support, take an extra look at the number, consistency and quality of the nurse's aides. As my mother declined physically, some of the aides expressed frustration with her and the inconsistent Staffing meant that aides were not familiar with her and her needs. A fall led to hospitalization and then to Skilled Nursing Care.

I would share with others what I enjoyed here. The food is halfway decent; the portions were small and could have been improved, but it wasn't all that bad. They had a variety deserts for lunch and supper which was nice. You could always asks for seconds if there wasn't enough. The dining staff worked very hard. I had a good relationship with one of the aides. As soon as she got to work, she would come in and help me take a shower. Which is unheard of. I liked the way she worked and that she'd get me out of the way. She would also help me take showers with the other aide wouldn't help me, but the one who wouldn't help me is no longer there. Everybody cared about each other. They had ice cream everyday at 2:30pm. The dining room was very bright and had big windows to look outside which was very nice. When the weather was nice, we could sit outside under the shade in the sunshine on the patio. They were good about giving medications, I'm a nurse so I pay particular attention to things. The staff were extremely helpful in taking me to and from meals when I couldn't use the wheelchair. They had a movie night, which hardly anyone went to. I personally went about twice. They would have someone come in to sing once every weekend, but there were probably about three occasions when they didn't show up. There was nothing for us to do, so we just sat around and waited until we felt like leaving, which is to no fault of the community. When you're looking forward to something, you don't understand why some people just cancel. They had some high-school kids that were apart of a service oriented group who came and shared with us. They sang with us and played instruments on Veterans Day. They also honored the Veterans that were there too. They have a shuttle service, there's a bus that I could take to my physical therapy appointments at no cost. There was no shuttle service on Wednesday, which is fine because there were four other days of the week. I would recommend Heather Heights of Pittsford to others.

Heather Heights is a great option for the money. the staff are very flexible with any request I have. my husband was not too thrilled with the food and portion sizes, but coming from home that's expected. I do think they do the best they can with their financial situation. all in all, I'm very happy with the care he's receiving. in regards to the atmosphere - they have a nice venue, a well kept landscape and the community has a cheerful feel to it.

I would definitely recommend Heather Heights. Everything is on one floor, so it makes it easy to get around. The residents don't have to get on an elevator to go eat, etc. And that's a huge asset. They also have memory care there, which also all on one floor. In assisted living, there are options for different living spaces. They offer apartments with a living room, bedroom, and bathroom. Or they also have a one room option that's less expensive. You can bring your own furniture if you like, or they can also furnish the rooms if you prefer. The staff have been excellent. In addition to the aides, they also have nurses on duty at all times. And they have a doctor (or sometimes his assistant) that comes in about once a week if needed. The food is excellent. My family member was saying before moving in that she just didn't like to eat. But here she says the food is wonderful, which is really something. They have a lot of activities if you choose to participate The last few weeks they've had musicians come in, which she loves. And she loves the ice cream bar. The cost is high but seems to be about the same as what other places in the area are charging. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Heather Heights.

I thought Heather Heights was very nice. The staff seemed good. And they had a therapist there who was well versed in Parkinson's, which would be great for my loved one.
When I walked out the door after the tour, I threw their brochure in the trashcan. I liked nothing about it. I would not send my loved one there, and I hope no one ever puts me in a place like that either.
