Unfortunately, I would not recommend Harmony to anyone unless the director/manager staff got better. The way they talk to the residents as if they don't know finances is horrible. It was nice on our first visit but went downhill once Mom moved in.

Can improve on several things: 1) hire more people especially wait type people and people for running activities; 2) Quit serving lukewarm meals and get some normal down to earth recipes; 3) interview people from time to time to see what they need or want; 4) really think the cost could be reduced for what we get.

It was a good experience. I picked them because of the cleanliness and cost.

The staff is lazy and rude. There is no plan for orienting new residents. Our father was ignored and allowed to wander all over the building half clothed. Eventually, he escaped and we found him hours later on a golf course. There was no real apology and most of the staff could not have possibly cared less. We moved our father out that day, and by that point most of his belongings had been lost. He was only there one week. I cannot recommend against this facility enough. Please do not ever place anyone there again. We heard many more stories after he moved to a different facility and other residents continued to do so after he moved.

The staff could stop taking away her TV remote. Letting her have her inhaler on her person. A couple of nurses could use an attitude adjustment.

He was very happy there. The only negative I have is the workers spend a lot of time on their phones rather than interacting with the residents. The facility was clean and the meals good. The activities coordinator kept the residents engaged.

As a family we did our research to find the right fit for my Mom. She is 95. Previously she was in an Assisted Living Facility in Virginia. We were never pleased with her care there but had no other options. I've lived in South Carolina for over 30 years. There are so many options here. We toured Harmony at Wescott and loved the Facility and staff. She has been there since June in their Memory care wing. The staff is so patient with her and try to keep her engaged as much as she is able to do. My home is only 15 minutes which makes it convenient.

She is pretty happy there. Mostly activities, friendly staff and residents. Even though she doesn't use it, there is transportation to appointments.

Based on the experience I have had so far, I think this community could work to improve on the food, the cleanliness, the meals and the activities.

Awful awful place that I would never recommend. They made my mother miserable. She wasn't given her meds even close to correctly. I know that she didn't receive her medication's because I provided many of them and they were unopened bottles. She used to tell me she wasn't getting her medication's but they would do a song and dance and act as if she was crazy because she was in memory care and she didn't know any better. when I got the remaining medication, I was floored. Four days into her new facility, she was snowed on the very medication that had almost no effect on her. They had no effect because she wasn't getting them. Additionally, they didn't give her her heart medication's as prescribed, and she had severe swelling in her legs and feet to where she couldn't even wear shoes. She developed stasis ulcers on her legs, which never healed and caused her a great deal of misery right up until the day that she died. the swelling resolved with four days of arrival at her new facility. It was just unexcused. The manager manager of the unit was not a nurse, and the caregivers had no knowledge of anything. There were usually only two or three people on the floor with 30 residents. One person would be giving off the medication. I would call it an alleged care facility. I cleaned her room and did her laundry, or it would not get done. She would not have gotten assistance to shower if I or hospice did not do it. Poop on the wall and floor. Toilet uncleared for three months. No assistance provided to dress morning or night. She was on her own. Even with visitors 5 days a week, they did not care. Almost no staff. They were prisoners, not allowed to go outside in a closed in area because the staff were either unavailable or too busy checking their phones to offer assistance. All of these issues were repeatedly addressed with management. I even sent this photos to the director. Do you think anyone cleaned it up? Nope, it was a stye until the day she left. She died 7 weeks after leaving there and I live daily with the guilt of making the last many months of her life a living hell because I doubted what she told me. I would nit wish that place on anyone. They are just in it for a quick buck. They then tried to keep two weeks of money paid in fees by saying that I didn't give proper. I gave exactly the notice that was in their handbook. It took months and they finally refunded part of that back to me. Iwent all the way to the CEO. Of course I heard nothing from the CEO and the upper level manager that I did hear from paid lip service, but I suspect just wanted to make me shut up and go away.

We chose Harmony at Wescott because we felt like we were getting more for our money than the other places. She was able to get a two-bedroom apartment for the same price as a studio apartment at the other places. They are short handed in the kitchen and dining room, But believe (food) that to be the case with most businesses right now. Overall the staff is very friendly and my mom loves them.

They operate as a team talking to residents and getting to know them. Most of them could tell you about their interaction your relative. I have not smelled any unpleasant scents associated with people staying unattended to. I'm happy with their response to questions. My aunt ended up going to memory care there a few days later and they are great!

Staff there seems like they do all they can. I do have concerns about the cost on care for assisted living but again staff has been great from what I have seen.

From the first step inside the door I felt I was greeted with loving care and respect. From the weekly cleaning lady to the chef to the Director they all personally welcomed me and showed concern about how I was adjusting and offered support to me, a stranger. Yes, I miss my friends in Indiana, but feel I’ve gained a new family and friends here at Harmony at Wescott in Summerville, SC.

It was a horrible experience and my mom is longer there. They were overcharging me. I had to constantly fight with them. There billing department had no idea what they were doing. The executive director was clueless. I did not find the staff helpful. I found out that sometimes at night there was not a staff person on my mom's floor. There would be 1 staff person covering both floors of assisted living.

April 25, 2024Hello, We are taking this situation very seriously and have escalated your review to the Harmony leadership team. Please contact us at info@harmonyseniorservices.com with your contact information, so we may reach out to you personally.
I feel that Harmony has a lot of potential. It's located near woods, goose ponds, and a golf course. The building is well laid out, and generally in good condition. There are many good staff members in Memory Care, but they are under staffed and over worked.

The staff caring for my mom in the memory care unit were wonderful. The facility offers many services that are part of the cost such as a health coach to help residents do activities, bus tours, and exercise classes geared towards the residents’ abilities. The reason I removed a star is because after your family member dies the 2 weeks you have to remove their belongings from their room isn’t honored. After my mom died I removed everything from her room except her bed as I needed to get a truck. I let the nurses assistants know I’d be back later in the week to pick the bed up. The day before I returned the maintenance staff threw the bed in a dumpster. I was still within my 2 week time period. The maintenance staff refused to help me get the bed out of the dumpster (he was very rude!), however several nurses assistants did help me. The higher ups didn’t return my call after I complained.

Harmony was an overall 5 star experience from the beginning to end! I would not hesitate to recommend the facility to friends and family. The facility has all the amenities that a person would need, it's clean and well managed. The staff are courteous and always available to provide for your needs. For the money, I would look no further.
