The Fort Armstrong was not our 1st choice for our mother. We had other options for her, but the timing didn't work out. It's not the kind of the facility that I would have wished for her to be. It's in desperate need of renovation. It's dark and dreary.

If I have to be in assisted living the Fort Armstrong is a good place to be. While The Fort has flaws the entire staff work hard to keep things running smooth. The administrative staff have been committed to the residents. The nursing staff deserve a commendation. It is a great comfort to me; now more then ever.

My mom has been there for 3 years and the rent goes up and they don’t get what is promised to her and her friends, the food is no good and the cleaning staff don’t do their job.now they r taking away internet and the price is still the same. She exsprest her words and the owner says if you don’t like it move. The nurses are wonderful but there is no nurse for 3rd shift. I can keep going on about bad things there but hopefully this is enough.

Facility is beautiful. Staff are awesome! We met with [name removed] and financial advisor [name removed]. Love the fact that they take care of the Medicaid application. If we stay in the quad cities area this is where we will go!

My mother lived at Fort Armstrong for over 2 years. The women in the office are great sales people. Great company employees to ensure their jobs are safe. There are wonderful people who work here--the gentleman who works at the front desk on the weekends, and the ladies in the dining room. This is NOT an assisted living place--this is barely a motel. Elevators are frequently broken. Staff who are supposed to be caregivers move at the speed of sloths on Valium. If you love your Senior...pick another place.

I toured this community for care and was happy with the staff. The community is very nice and they have a lot of different care options. They offer a healthy menu and a good list of activities. We would recommend this community for families to tour for the care of a loved one.

We are happy with the care for my father. I like knowing that the staff are caring and attentive. The menu is appealing and he likes the variety. They keep the community very clean and maintained. The activities are offered to him. We would recommend this community for great care and value.

Any sort of move for a person that has dementia can be overwhelming and traumatic well that was my mom. The overall move was a little overwhelming for her but with some medication adjustments things are starting to settle down and she is starting to relax and adjust to her new surroundings. She loves going downstairs or go outside the landscaping is lovely and talks and interact with the other residents and the staff. The food seems to be the ok mom is eating but she can be picky at times so she may not eat everything she is given. The location of the community is great it is only 5 minutes from my house so that I feel comfortable

Our experience with Ft. Armstrong was not satisfactory. My family member was misjudged by their staff and really did not qualify for Assisted Living. They wanted him there as a paying resident only. When he had an accident with diarrhea the staff refused to clean it up, and a friend had to do it. After one month he was pretty much asked to leave. No real reason given. The residents must navigate an elevator up as much as 9 floors, and it is quite difficult to manage this. The staff suggested we default on a credit card bill so he would have more money to pay them. They were helpful in some areas, but we were left with a really bad feeling. The staff even told him he was not wanted there.

A Place for Mom has scored Fort Armstrong 6.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
