It was close to where my dad's house was and convenient. Also the price fit his buggy. They made a lot of promises they were not able to keep. Services were horrible and other residents complained too.

Response from Forest Hills Place
November 8, 2024While it is our goal and desire to provide the best care possible to our residents, we understand that we cannot always ensure that the family members are overwhelming satisfied. We will continue to provide the best in quality care and strive for better. We wish the best for our current and former residents. Thank you for taking the time to voice your concerns, it helps us become better.
My family has experienced the most unprofessional, lack of compassion and poor communication at Forest Hills Place over the last six months from the Administrator [name removed]. I am intentionally not providing her full name just for the sake of, but she and Forest Hills Place know exactly who they have dishing out such miss treatment. While I know my family member can sometimes be difficult, Ms. [name removed] is supposed to be the trained professional. Her only move was to evict/discharge my family member within 6 mos and said I quote "He can go to a Shelter" No intervention, No care plan meeting , No sit down with the family, nothing other than he is Out. I tried speaking with her, asking if we can meet three times and her reply was to ignore my request three times and finally I said to her can we meet and she angrily said NO!! I am taking this time to write this review in hopes that whomever Ms [name removed] direct report may be, will have a sit down with her on how to treat PEOPLE/FAMILIES.

Forest Hills Place was not at all what we expected. My dad's health deteriorated while there. They said they'd have activities, yet I found my dad stuck in his room alone most of the time. They also mentioned meals based on what my dad liked, yet it was never offered. My dad didn't like it there. His personal items continued to come up missing. As his dementia got worse, he was moved to a lock down unit where he felt really deserted. There was no one there on the weekends. Even other residents complained. They would always make excuses about being short of help, yet wanted their monthly payments. I would not recommend Forest Hills Place to anyone who has a family member they care about.
I would never recommend anyone going there. Unfortunately my sister was placed there because it was a mile from where her grandson lived. The staff was never anywhere to be seen. They would open up my sisters door and say " Do you want a shower?" Her answer was no so they gave her 0 showers and no sponge baths. We ended up taking her to the emergency room of University Hospital. She had fallen in the hall and was admitted with 4 broken ribs and a collapsed lung. They placed her in the second building which was memory care without having her tested. That consisted of a big room on the first floor with the tv blaring or the radio and one person watching all the patients. No one was allowed to stay in their rooms during the day. We never took her back there. We placed her in another facility. She was so weak that she got there on a Tuesday and we lost her that Friday night. No I wouldn't recommend Forest Hills for anyone. That was not a choice made by me. Her grandson chose it because it was close to his apartment. I will be happy knowing that a clear value is placed in that facility. I did talk to someone who worked there before Covid. It was a totally different place. I would not recommend anyone placing a loved one there now!

Our family had an in person tour and it was just a fine experience but overall it was just not very impressive.
My family member moved here a year ago, the staff changes often never the same staff, it seem like they only use temp service. The rates have increased twice in six months , each time 8% and yet the service is declining. Don’t know how much more we can take! if these does not get better we will be force to leave!

Our family had an in person tour and Forest Hills seemed really good at engaging residents in activities but wasn't as clean as would have liked it

They're not doing what they're supposed to be doing. They are short of staff, it's just not what I expected for my loved one(s). My loved one has dementia and they are basically on their own when no family member is there. On the weekends there is no nurse or aide on the floor. We've been told that they are short of staff and the nurse may be working all three floors. There was a time when a family member was there and they hadn't seen a nurse or anyone on the floor at all. Communication between the community and our family has been terrible. I have to email them or call several times before I hear anything back. When I call the nurses station, I never receive an answer at all. When I am able to voice my concern, they don't address it, they always put it back on the patient. If something isn't right they'll say, " Your loved one is dong such and such or they're being combative". They always make an excuse and never own up to their side.

It definitely could have been a better experience. They had a general lack of communication and professionalism. Some of the staff, as far as the nursing staff was concerned, were non-communicative. The facility did not let us know that they were discharging my mom from their location when she went to the hospital. We thought they would be bringing her back, but we had to find out on a note from the hospital that Forest Hills Place had discharged her. And we didn't have a place for her to go to. Then they continued to charge us for the room that she had only occupied for two weeks. We were very unhappy with their services.

I would encourage you not to come to Forest Hills Place. There is theft of the resident's items. You have a new staff member each day, and it seems they don't have enough staff to assist the residents here.

They were excellent. We experienced a very supportive and loving staff. The residents there seemed happy. And the staff were engaged in their care. My loved one loved the food, and that's coming from a picky eater. She also loved the activities. They were fabulous.

It's a really clean place, and really comfortable. I love that everyone pretty much has a private suite. My only concern is if your family needs medication at a certain time, that could be an issue. We were having problems with insulin that needed administering multiple times a day. Our loved one was missing the morning dose. I think that's because they contract out for their nursing staff, so nurse availability was dependent upon that. I would have liked to know that beforehand. But the staff were all really great when they were there.

This place has been very disappointing. They are lacking in their support to patients and communicating with their family. The night shift aides do not check on patients and change them for the most part. When the patients buzz for help, no response, if it does occur it's about 3 hours or more later. Aides staff change frequently & some are rude., the act as if they don't care and have concern for the patients. Medications are not dispensed at time, When complaints are made to Director, no response. Experience has been very dissatisfactory. Would not recommend.

We really liked Forest Hills, it was our second choice to go with. The only thing that drew us away was that it was multiple floors and we wanted a facility that was all one floor. They were very friendly and even called to check in on my mom and gave us advice after she had moved into another facility.
My mom got a very nice room and the intake person did an excellent. Overall it was an ok place better than the well-known places around town. The food was really good and the facilities were really nice. She made friends and that was nice. I would recommend this facility to others

Since my mom has been at Forest Hills Place she has remarkably began to thrive. She constantly tells me how much she loves it there. She enjoys the activities and the staff provide extraordinary care. It’s a very warm & homey place. I am absolutely grateful for their existence.

A Place for Mom has scored Forest Hills Place 5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
