The Discovery Village has been a good fit for my mother - she has been there 2 years in [date removed]. The only reason I gave a 3 rating is because there seems to be a lot of repairs ongoing in the building - from water leaks, to broken elevators...Overall it is a great place to live!

Something is always broken. We moved her there for the pool. It's always closed due to one thing or another. They also had to take the façade off of the entire building and replace it. Dust was everywhere. They never came back through the apartments to clean up the dust. It's in everything. My aunt has to ask 3 and 4 times to have something done in her apartment. The people are very friendly but the staff is not that friendly. Noah at the front desk is wonderful. The food is hit or miss. They have changed it to be more like a restaurant dining experience instead of standing in line My aunt uses the art room but we are having issues there as well as with the pool. I was a state certified guardian so I know what's out there and how much things cost. The independent living is very affordable. She will need assisted living in the next year or two. I'm not sure how that will compare. This place is so busy chasing their tails trying to keep up with repairs that they can't be proactive. They need a game plan. I tried for an entire day to get the A/C filter size for her apartment. I finally got the info, went to Lowe's to get it and I could tell it wasn't the right size. I went to the apartment, with a ladder. They had given me the wrong size. They just need to get their stuff together.

The biggest difference is the intellectual/worldly/experience level of the residents. Very fascinating people who share a lot of common interest with my mom! I would recommend highly!

Nice community overall. There were some issues with the apartment that took months to fix. Also, when asked about the avg monthly electricity cost we were told $50 a month. It's been closer to $150-$200 monthly.

The staff that I've dealt with has been very helpful - the concierge at the front desk, maintenance team and dining room employees. Quick turn around when she's needed light bulb changed, clogged toilet, etc. The apartments are very spacious with updated appliances and granite countertops. Moms is a two bedroom/two bath with a nice large deck overlooking the courtyard.

I ate breakfast there one time and ask for over easy eggs and they came out well done, bacon was burnt and toast was over toasted. We had cleaning services add and they never the first month so had to call and they did come following month and was supposed to get credit back for first month. I need to check and see if that happened. My dad is very happy there!

I am currently a resident at Discovery Village at Dominion IL and everything has been great for me here at this facility so far. The staff at Discovery Village personify empathy, professionalism, and respect. The meals are well-prepared and are delicious. I have had the best BLT in my life and that is not an exaggeration! There are also many amenities that are offered here. The one that I am particularly thankful for is the transportation that they provide to shopping areas and medical appointments. I enjoy myself here and earnestly recommend Discovery Village at Dominion IL to others.

I would say move in immediately! It's very lively, the people are clearly happy, it's very elegant, the food is absolutely exquisite, and the whole environment is uplifting and not sad at all. We walked into some places that felt like the therapy scene in one flew over the cuckoo's nest! Also, [name removed], in the Houston area helped me find the place. I felt like I was talking to a long lost friend. This entire thing has been such a great experience!

The community is lively, friendly, and likes to do lots of things, your choice. We picked this community, because of the location, and the beautiful lay out of the building. Careful consideration, as the fix and repair group has its own way of doing things. Something they can do, is easily and quickly done. If they do not know how to fix it, they have to contract it out, and it may take after you leave to get it done.

Lovely facility. Most of the residents have lived there four or five years, which is a really good sign. Follow through by the administrative staff needs improvement. All in all, the residents are happy, and social activities are well planned and the facility is clean. I would definitely recommend this community but keep your eyes on Administration and make sure they follow through.
The staff are very friendly. The concierge at front desk make you welcome when you check in. I feel like it's a safe environment for my mom. EVERY single person that I have met that lives there have been so nice and friendly. We've eaten there with my mom a couple times and the staff there make me feel like I'm part of a family. They know my mom by name which is very comforting.

They have been horrible about doing repairs. My mom moved in the beginning of January and they have not fixed a broken window, broken granite in her kitchen and her outlets in her primary bath don't work. The staff overall has been great. My mother loves it there and has made a lot of new friends.

My loved one is making friends, going to different activities, and enjoying her nice apartment. The rent is reasonable for everything she gets to participate in. Of the three I narrowed the list down to, Discovery Village which was the newest, least expensive, and they have an indoor/outdoor pool.

Discovery Village is a beautiful place that looks like luxury living, the value for the money is excellent compared to some other places we had checked out. Sometimes the dining service can be slow but the food always looks and smells great. There are tons of different activities for the residents to do. They have multiple happy hours a couple times a week, they bring in live entertainment. There are different weekly outings to some of the different shops and restaurant's in the area. The calendar is always packed and they have calendars in the elevators to remind everyone what is going on. We would love at Discovery Village and would recommend them to other families.

I've had a very good experience. It was relatively painless getting established here, and so far so good. I like the casual atmosphere (as opposed to more formal places that I toured). I appreciate the presence of the long-time residents, as well as a lot of new ones. And I like the general convenience of just about everything. For activities, they have about anything somebody would like - bible study, trivial pursuit, outside field activities. They have a wide variety, and there is more than enough to do. Yet they don't force you to do it.

Discovery Village is in a great location in San Antonio. They provide outstanding service, food, and space, especially for the price. I was really surprised how inexpensive it is. My loved one has had one maintenance request so far, and they were really quick to resolve it. They were really apologetic and great to work with. She's gotten to know the kitchen staff really well, and they accommodate any of her requests. It truly seems like they're there for her needs, which is a refreshing change.
