Deseret Springs is a great place to live. The start are wonderful. There are lots of activities there every day. The food is pretty good. And they have a van that takes us to appointments. My appointment is very nice. It is quite small but it really nice.

The facility is attractive and very bright-- lots of natural light both in the common areas and in the rooms. We just went through a renovation of all the common areas with minimal disruption and good results. The staff is very friendly, accommodating, welcoming and supportive. Within a few days, they all knew my name. Housekeeping is weekly and is efficient. The managers referred me to a company for help with the move-in process. It was an amazingly smooth process. The meals are good quality, and there are multiple menu options for alternate and healthy choices. They also just installed a refrigerator where residents who may have missed a meal can pick up a sandwich, salad, fruit, yogurt, etc. any time. I would definitely recommend Desert Springs!

Desert Springs has been great in all aspects. The staff were great, food was good, and the self serve ice cream and popcorn went over very well. A lot of well planned activities and great facility. I felt the price for what was offered was good. They also had a care service on site if needed.

When it comes to the activities I wish they had yoga or Pilates. I haven't needed care. Management is great yet new. They need to pay attention to the upkeep of facilities. Was disappointed that the room hadn't been checked as the toilet wax dirty

Response from Desert Springs
July 18, 2023Thank you for your high star review and kind words!
Desert Springs – Oro Valley is a phenomenal living experience! My parents have been looking for the right place to move for several years and have visited many communities. While many had a lot to offer, when they found Desert Springs, they found their home! The community is so warm and welcoming. The people living there have made them feel right at home since the first time they went there. They have been able to discuss some of their questions with many of the residents and have found solutions to each thing they were concerned about. The staff is beyond fantastic! [Name removed], sales manager, is epitome of professionalism, kindness and knowledgeable. He will go out of his way to help find an answer for a resident or their families. He approached my parents gently and reached out when an opening for a beautiful apartment became available. With his guidance, they selected this apartment! The management team lives onsite and are also super nice and knowledgeable. It is a comfort to kn

Response from Desert Springs
July 7, 2022Thank you for your high star rating!
I had a bad experience with a staff member at Desert Springs. The director is trying to work on this with me to resolve. The apartment is nice and I have nice views out my window. There is a kitchenette in the apartment. There is housekeeping once a week provided. They will wash linens as well, and take the trash out for the residents.

Visited Desert Springs in Oro valley to inquire about a place for my mom. Met [name removed] who greeted me and showed me around. She was very caring, helpful, and informative. The place is very nice as was the staff. Signed a contract for an apartment for my mom but as time got close it was determined she would need 24/7 care. So I had to change plans and put my mom in a nursing home. [Name removed] was very understanding and only wished for the best outcome. I appreciate her caring. I recommend Desert Springs highly.

Desert Springs is a very nice place. We found it very easy to work with them as far as moving in and out. Even in independent living, they would always gladly check on my loved one. They were very helpful. After a hospital stay, they were bringing all his meals and checking in on him, which is above and beyond what an independent living does. It seems like they offered quite a few activities even with Covid going on. The grounds were always spotless.

We investigated, visited and toured several communities when deciding to move to a retirement community. Desert Springs had more to offer, by far, of what we were looking for, ie, separate and private living area (such as a casita), 3 tasty meals each day, attractive architecture, tastefully and artfully decorated interior, well maintained community and adequate staffing in all areas, the pricing for Desert Springs is very reasonable and competitive with only a month to month commitment. As essential "must"have" is skilled, capable, caring and professional management staff - this is a key element for any retirement community and it is a "shining star" area for Desert Springs as the management team is truly outstanding. We highly recommend Desert Springs as an outstanding, active and well maintained retirement community.

When my husband and I decided we needed to slow down and move into some kind of retirement home, we visited several in our community. This one seemed very good. We have great managers and lots of fun activities to keep us from just sitting in our room. I would say it is the best place to retire and start the next phase of your life!

The management staff is examplary! After several false starts we now have the best. The food has improved so much it is hard to believe. My only suggestion would be that the regional/local managers occasionally walk the property and note areas that need/will need repair before the problem becomes worse/more expensive. Windows need washing

A Place for Mom has scored Desert Springs 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
