Champlin Shores

Nice place but expensive although I don't have a comparison. We picked this community because of the location.

It felt like home - I knew my Mom would love it there. It was simply a "knowing" in my heart. God absolutely led us there. I would recommend to others. In fact my best friend's dad just moved in on our recommendation.

You have to keep an eye on things (e.g. escorts to meals, medication management and admin) but they do well over all. Champlin Shores was bought out about a year ago and its new name is [facility removed].

What we like the most about the community is the location and that it is close to our family. Based on the experience we have had, we would recommend Champlin Shores to other families.

My mother loves it there and we have been impressed with their all around customer service. For our mother, walking into Champlin Shores felt like home. It wasn't too big, it wasn't too small. The vibe in the lobby area was that people enjoyed visiting with each other, and if you were to stop in at any given time, they usually are a few people down there to socialize. The staff have always been very friendly. We have had a few meals with our mother, the food was well prepared and tasteful. By the end of the first week, all the staff knew my mother's name, and called her by name when speaking with her. For us, Champlin Shores has been the perfect fit for our mothers next home.

initial meetings and lease signing went well. Follow up since signing has been less efficient. I believe they are going through a transition with new staff. The welcome when Mom moved in exceeded expectations. She even got a literal red carpet welcome at her door with balloons. Cleanliness most areas look clean except for the elevator. Very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Mom is at an Independent level so we can't rate the care. Meals/Dining So far most items are tasty and cooked well, with good variety. Mom hasn't been there long enough to experience the activities. They lack church services, Bible study and Worship which are listed in the Resident Guide but not currently available. This would mean so much to Mom to have these. The price is comparable to other facilities in the area. It's just naturally high priced. I appreciate that the rent covers everything including food, and utilities.

Main issues include short staffed, and inconsistent med admin and escort to meals and activities when it is indicated in the level of care we pay for.

I’m a resident here at Champlin Shores. Champlin Shores has Very friendly staff and residents. Clean with wonderful housekeeping. It’s just like home with one big family.

They can improve on communication with families and residents. We have had issues since move in. No new resident orientation so my loved one doesn't know all the rules and stuff. They promised things that have not happened. Some staff members are not professional. Issues with management not returning calls.

It has been a very positive experience. I chose this community because of the location, friendliness of the staff, and it is a safe place for my loved one. My loved one would like to see healthier food options.

I'm not very pleased. Up front, they are all so friendly and they make it sound so wonderful. I know in these times and days they are short-staffed. Meals are always cold. They do try, the activities are okay. With the care - they're just not all on the same page and I could not recommend them to anyone right now. After 5pm I don't see any care whatsoever nor do I see any security. I don't know, I'm just really up in the air right now. When going and touring, they of course, made it all sound wonderful and like they care. But, right now I'm not sure, they may be working on it. I know it's hard to get employees, but for the care, there should be no exceptions. I know of numerous fallings of the elderly and they don't seem to be around. There are some exceptional people there, but when it comes to care and issues being handled - there always seems to be a dead end. It goes nowhere, nothing is taken care of and nothing seems to be addressed.

I think this is a very nice place and that it is well run and well organized. They are very responsive to me when there is an issue with my loved one. they alert me all of the time when there are any issues. Sometimes they don't return calls immediately and there are things that I may need to communicate this can be hard but for the most part this is a great place and I would recommend it.

I would start off with a tour and a meeting with the community director. She will help you through the community and it would be a wonderful experience for you and your loved one. They have activities like dancing, bingo, tea parties and more for the residents to do at this community to stay active. They also have birthday parties for everyone in the unit.

It was a struggle to in; however, it was well worth it. There was some concerns by the staff on what would and wouldn't work; however, we worked through them together for my loved one. There is medication management, toileting, dressing and hygiene care by the staff for my loved one. If there is a concern or question I have been able to get them resolved with the appropriate team members in the community. Arts and crafts, music, gardening, celebrations, and more are some of the activities for the residents to choose from. My loved one likes the food for the most part. I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones.

We chose Champlin Shores because of the close proximity to our house. The room sizes at the facility are adequate, my dad seems to be very happy here. The staff are always extremely friendly and he has settled in well. I would recommend them to others looking.
